I don't know if the police department will tolerate a bunch of stoners.

Cockatrice, you're a loose cannon, but dammit you get results!

Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
The president has been kidnapped by bad dudes, are you a rad enough ninja to go rescue the president?

I'm glad I'm not the only one noticing that the president is seemingly being captured by secret agents and will need to be rescued by a ninja.

That is the entire basis of this story's title. It's not exactly an obscure reference.

I don't mean simply recognizing the game reference, but how it's entirely reversing the idea, which up until the latest comic, it hadn't done yet since we hadn't seen the attempted kidnappers. Yeah, people were guessing that the president was going to need to be saved, but the previous discussion didn't go beyond the idea of other ninjas still being the bad guys.

Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
The ninja has been presidented by enough ,are you a kidnapped bad dudes to go rescue the ninja?
-
Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
Yeah, Franz Rayner's plan was dead in the water at Step 1. This Prez can take care of herself...
Also, it's good to have Page 3 confirmation that Doc is still an idiot.

Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
What's interesting to me is that the black-suit-and-sunglasses combo usually means "Secret Service" when associated with the President. Did the bad guys infiltrate the Presidential bodyguard?
-
Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
Those do appear to have been Secret Service agents. Given that there are over 100 staff in the White House at a given time, the President could be in real trouble if they've all turned against her.

The president has kidnapped bad dudes. Are you ninja enough to rescue them?

Not quite. Yours has the president being kidnapped and needing a rescue. Flickerdart's has the president doing the kidnapping and having you rescue the bad dudes.

Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
Right. Well thats egg on my face.

Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
...So is McNinja ninja enough to kidnap the President?
-
Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?

You nailed it!

Looks like the cockatrice theory was correct.

I wouldn't know. I refuse to load the page, just in case it shows it directly looking at me through the monitor. :smalleek:
....
Though that does make me wonder.... Does a monitor count as a reflective surface? Or would only a CRT one count and a LCD one fail?
Hmmm. Maybe if I looked at the monitor via a pair of mirrors (a pair to correct the flip)? Or is it the shifting of the mirroring which stops the petrification effect? And does that stop the petrification gaze always, or only medusas?
Sounds like a job for DOCTOR McNINJA to scientifically study! :smallamused:

Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
I'm pretty sure that monitors count as a projection or reflective surface.
See, I'm looking at it right now and nothing is hap

Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
No no no.
That is clearly a crushatrice. Not a cockatrice. Trust me, I know my 'trices.
(That's some seriously FF inspired art there, Hastings. :P)

It's a good thing I'm a weasel/human hybrid, or else I'd be in real trouble reading this comic.

You do have another defense, don't forget. :smalltongue:
-
Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
I...don't know what a cockatrice is. That last panel is pretty insane. :smallconfused:
-
Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
A cockatrice is a mythological monster born from a chicken egg incubated by a toad/snake. Or possibly the other way around.
It's a chicken-like monster that turns people to stone.

See, I thought cockatrices only petrified by bite, not gaze. And even then, once I load up the page, it's only an image of a cockatrice, which shouldn

Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
The thing with medieval folklore is that there's never "one true way" that a particular monster works.
-
Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
NOOOOO! All the delicious meats! Wasted!

Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
This should make mirrors and pools of water the greatest environmental hazards to cockatrices. Maybe that's why they're so expensive?

Not necessarily. Chickens have pretty poor eyesight - unless the thing is right in its face, it straight up doesn't see it's there.
