If you live by the sword, you die by the sword! ...sometimes. :smalltongue:

Looks like we've got a fight scene incoming. Toma is a tough customer, but he's outnumbered. He'd probably wipe the floor with those goons by themselves, but they can keep him distracted for Anadyne and Knock-me-down to mess him up. Anadyne isn't a good enough wright to be a match for a skilled swordsman with a First Material weapon, but she can still cast spells around him.

People just keep getting their arms chopped off left and right around here. It's an epidemic.

Yeah, it must be something in the air.
...this is the first time i see Ana so scared... :smallamused:

Well, this certainly hasn't gone well for Stockyard's crew. Toma fled, but he's still alive and bound to make trouble. I wonder if he escaped because he was outmatched, or because he didn't want to have to kill any more of the Ethemilkians.

Judging by the way the old man was presented in the one panel, I'm guessing he didn't want to kill any more of them.

Re: Unsounded, quite possibly the (2nd) best webcomic I have seen.
Wonder if Toma is the closest thing we get to a hero in this slightly sad tale..?
Any other bids for the position..?

Well, Duane's kind of a jerk, but he seems pretty heroic. Am I forgetting anything full-on capital E, change-your-alignment Evil that he's done?
Jivi is pretty damn Good, too. He could totally end up having some kinda "peasant hero" thing going on.

Spoiler

Ana's arm! Ewwww. I mean, sure, you stopped the bleeding, good on you. But your arm meat is pretty much hamburger. I don't think that pymary can fix that, exactly.
Also, Ana is stupid. "Oh there's a door I can't get through it." Yessss... but are the hinges also magic-resistant? How about the floor under it, or the walls to either side? She's doing the equivalent of standing on front of a tree and saying there's an impassible barrier. I know, I know, the plot demands it, but graaaah! I could have totally killed Toma by now.

Re: Unsounded, quite possibly the (2nd) best webcomic I have seen.
Yeeesh, those bite marks looks nasty. :smalleek: I guess that's what you get when you take a canine, make it big enough for a man to ride and have it bite someone. Anadyne seems pretty close to snapping, and it's only going to get worse when she finds out what Toma did to the passage.
As far as the door goes, I really wouldn't expect any part of it, or the walls around it, not to be pymary-proofed either. That would be a big oversight, wouldn't it?
Regarding heroism, I'd say Duane certainly qualifies. He tends to strive to do the right thing - it's just that his idea of the right thing is coloured by the culture he was raised in and is still fiercely loyal to. He's not dissimilar to Toma this way.

What would be the point of pymary-proofing a door and leaving the surrounding surfaces and connections unworked?

I tend to give her some benefit. With an arm half-chomped away, probably it's harder to reason in a proper way...

Re: Unsounded, quite possibly the (2nd) best webcomic I have seen.
And we finally get to meet Quigley's late wife.
-
Re: Unsounded, quite possibly the (2nd) best webcomic I have seen.
Dang, she was awesome.
I never knew her, but now I miss her.

Re: Unsounded, quite possibly the (2nd) best webcomic I have seen.
What Kislath said
So the khert cannot take control of those materials? That might turn very dangerous later on. The khert has the job of keeping unwanted things out of reality, like evil spirits or undead. But if Murkoph gets his hands on this spells and a bit of first materials, he would be immune to that and could stay forever in the world of the living.
-
Re: Unsounded, quite possibly the (2nd) best webcomic I have seen.
I believe her primary purpose was to provide protection from the Dammakhert's sting to her colleagues from the March. At least that's what I remember from some comments by the author. It would certainly revolutionize pymary-proofing measures if it spread.

Quoted for the truth. She's just ridiculously adorable.

Re: Unsounded, quite possibly the (2nd) best webcomic I have seen.
Indeed the last few pages have been very cute, guess that means we're in for more horribleness soon but for now it's nice. I've been liking the faces especially I have to say.

Re: Unsounded best webcomic I have seen.
Best webcomic out there. Great story, great visuals, constant updates.
And top of that great characters, great plot, it's pretty ****ing unbelivably good. Ashley must be some kind of wizard or sorceress.
I'm not apologizing for the title. Unsounded beats OotS in visuals and constant updates while the story and characters are on same level.
I also enjoy Erfworld but it had an Artist Shift and the story got funky with Fate and other **** messing it for me.
God, I kinda miss poor Sette, she is one the most spunkiest characters out there. Can't wait for plot to get back to her.
Also Vienne is so cute and loveable, it makes Quigley's story all the more tragic.

Re: Unsounded, quite possibly the (2nd) best webcomic I have seen.
At least Quiggs is honest with himself.

Just about the most sympathetic Chaotic Evil character I've ever seen.

And so the plotlines seem to converge. Or move in that direction, anyway.

Duane wished to kill a Crescian soldier purely for being from Cresce. He restrained himself once he heard the man had a family (and Sette got mad), but I'd say he's way too trigger-happy when it comes to Cresce, war or not. He's also got that whole hunger thing going on, but that is outside of his control.
Apart from the clashes with Cresce, Duane is certainly a noble man. He did not hesitate when it came to rescuing innocents from slavers, for example, and what we've seen of him so far has made him appear to be a thoughtful, reasonable guy. I hope he survives the comic, though I can see him eventually deteriorating due to his undead status.

Re: Unsounded, quite possibly the (2nd) best webcomic I have seen.
The mere idea of such a team-up, gives me shiver (in the good sense)

Re: Unsounded, quite possibly the (2nd) best webcomic I have seen.
I was confused as to what's going on in this panel, but apparently the lizards brought Stockyard the news about Ana and Toby's plans.

Possibly.
All I can say, is that Stockyard is slightly disturbing.
