Alignment Handbook Super-Thread
Here's a (hopefully growing) collection of people's general guides to roleplaying a particular alignment.
Guides are posted by alignment in terms of alphabetical order.

It's under construction, but it looks like a Lawful Neutral handbook just popped up.

Re: Alignment Handbook Super-Thread
Thanks for the convenient single thread to bookmark!
Since it sounds like we might see a full 9 threads does it make more sense to use a 3x3 grid(or are the thread titles too long?)?

The thread titles are pretty long; even if I could fit them onto a convenient 3 by 3 square, it would make everything much more cramped (especially if I still tried to link both the Author and their Handbook). As it stands, I think by alphabetical alignment isn't that hard to follow; we all know our ABCs around here, right?

Re: Alignment Handbook Super-Thread
I doubt we'll be getting a True Neutral handbook in any case.

Actually, I think someone said they were working on one.

That's bound to be... interesting. I mean, there's so many ways to be TN. You can be too stupid to be responsible (animal-level INT), uncaring of the surrounding environment (general populace), just happen to be perfectly balanced in your actions (difficult but possible), or, and this may be the weirdest, be devoted to neutrality as a cause. There's more options, too, but those are the ones that immediately spring to mind.

Especially with all the archetypes that a character capable of mixed good-or-bad reactions can fit. Sounds like it might have to be either very nuanced or very basic.

Re: Alignment Handbook Super-Thread
Speaking as a RL True Neutral person (who is apparently weird for being evangelical about neutrality as a concept), I wish that person luck in not ticking people off, stepping on archetypal toes, or generally screwing up one of the easiest and most often misunderstood alignments there is.

Maybe if it were done by committee. One Archetype per writer, something like that.
Concordant Opposition, indeed.

Re: Alignment Handbook Super-Thread
Aww, I was making one of those. NE, that is.

Re: Alignment Handbook Super-Thread
I still think LoyalPaladin should have done the Lawful Good one.
-
Re: Alignment Handbook Super-Thread
You know, we can have multiple alignment handbooks for each alignment. There's no rules about handbook creation...
In any case, I'll go add the Neutral Evil handbook.

Re: Alignment Handbook Super-Thread
True. Mine will be up tomorrow.

Re: Alignment Handbook Super-Thread
If anyone has a good Camus quote for NE, I would appreciate it.
Also, if you want to collaborate, PM me and maybe we can figure something out

Re: Alignment Handbook Super-Thread
TN would have some of the most varied info to work with, I think.

No problem. Progress is slow so far; I've found three quotes that could be construed to involved NE in the right context...but they aren't exactly glowing endorsements.

Re: Alignment Handbook Super-Thread
I went with 'Truth, like light, blinds. Falsehood, on the contrary, is a beautiful twilight that enhances every object.' Not perfect, but the best I could find.

These are okay, but not quite what I'm looking for.

No worries, I saw you putting it up and linked it in preemtively. Check the OP. :smallwink::smallcool:

How about Nietzsche? Hope is the greatest evil? Eh?
-
Re: Alignment Handbook Super-Thread
Sweet. Thanks. Also, what are everyone's thoughts on it so far?

So far it looks pretty good, although that isn't much. As somebody who's already tried to cover a non-double-extreme alignment, here's my warning to you about archetypes: make sure that whatever you use, it's a decidedly NE archetype, rather than an LE or CE one. Leaning is okay, but the archetype should be balanced on that particular axis, whether by using none of either side, or equal amounts of either side.
