No hot water? Again or still? And why am I even able to ask that question of a fellow resident of a first-world country? (Praise that lack of a shower curtain. Cold-water showers on long hair are nothing but skull-splitting pain. Moral fiber is another lie for pain.)

Re: Il'deav Ilah'naie's Indiscreet Intimacies on Indigo Iceboats Random Banter #135
No hot water again. It should come back on the morrow though, or the day after. We think the water company's stuffed up again, that or it could be our pipes. It's not that we've run out of hot water as we have a boiler now that's that to do it - maybe the boiler shtoofed up - but it's a temporary problem. We hope.
And I too have known the upsetting agony of cold water on long hair. I never wish to know that pain ever again.

Razerunner, you realize that those are old posts, right? And your questions are answered below all of them?
Also, that my post is like five below Zero's, what the hell.

Our hot water is off too...
How very odd. We return home from University for Christmas only to discover the student life integrating itself with us eternally.

If he's your brother, just tell him in real life. I don't think he's actually paying attention to the thread.

That's slightly better. I never had to go. I hung out with friends instead (christmas shopping is done)

Hiya, Razerunner. Good. . .um (counts the time zone difference) afternoon. Welcome to this thread. The conversation moves so fast that you usually only reply to posts that were posted today. If you just woke up and want to catch up on what people talked about while you were asleep, then yesterday's posts are OK to reply to.
Christmas shopping online is a wonderful thing but it does lack ambiance. Have you got live caroling going where you went shopping or anything else more fun than the mall Santa trying to answer the questions of teenaged girls who thought it would be 'cute' to talk to Santa?

'Tis a shame isn't it?
I was quite enjoying the state of 'Not Having Hot Water Run Out On Me And Being Able To Take Strangely Houred Showers Without Hearing Drunken People Struggling Home' thing, but now our hot water's dead.
Merry Christmas Koorilithulu!
*Indeed, now I shall journey through the shadows in between books and rip the souls from your infants, flay your spouse alive and decorate your Christmas tree in her soddden skin.
Merry Christmas . . . *
Sorry about Her, she gets cranky sometimes.
It'd better come back before Christmas Eve. Actually, it'd better be back by tomorrow afternoon.

Student habits, they sink into you and horrify your family.
[X] years ago, 11pm local time, a dim kitchen, paraphrased:
". . .you're still awake."
I shut the fridge. "I was hungry."
"(yawn) I smell pizza but I didn't hear the microwave. . ."
"Didn't use it." With my tongue I worried a cornmeal grit from the pizza crust that'd gotten stuck between my front teeth.
"You ate leftover pizza? Cold?!"
"Mm-hm?"

I actually think leftover pizza is best served cold. It's just disappointing to reheat it, because it never tastes as good as it did when it was originally hot.

Re: Il'deav Ilah'naie's Indiscreet Intimacies on Indigo Iceboats Random Banter #135
If you toast it in the oven it is much more palatable than microwaved. Then again, leftover cold pizza might be something like leftover cold chicken, which I remember being quite unprecedentedly good.
My brother's wife, bless her, deliberately leaves her pizza out overnight on the counter because she likes it better that way.

Re: Il'deav Ilah'naie's Indiscreet Intimacies on Indigo Iceboats Random Banter #135
While you make a worthy case for cold leftover pizza, it's just something I never would have heeded before being stranded* in a dorm at gods-only-know-what-o'clock with nothing but refrigerated food.
Yes, cold leftover meats are delightful. Something about the cold, and occasional ice crystals, just brings out the flavor.
*Most colleges, I know, have 24-hour food shops within easy walking distance of their dorms for just this situation, but ours did not. The local Denny's had been ordered to close at midnight in order to cut down on drug deals in the vicinity.

I don't have eggs either. I'm woefully underprepared for a cake emergency such as that. I guess I'd just have to cry in a corner. Or buy a pre-made cake.
Also, cold pizza is infinitely better than re-heated pizza. Re-heated pizza tastes odd and tends to go all soggy. No one wants soggy pizza. No one.

I'd recommend crying in the corner, its much more productive.

Is there any food that tastes as good or even better when re-heated ?
