[IC] All quiet at Bakura
The city of Daris, Bakura.
For the edge of Wild Space, this surely is a dull place. Grown around one of Bakur RepulsorCorp's plants, there's nothing that distinguishes it from millions of other such settlements on other planets.
Yes, environmental laws are somewhat stricter, so there's not soot underfoot and the rain doesn't sting on the skin (when it's raining at all), but the houses are still all of the same duracrete structures, several stories high, painted white, yellow or green. Some people nurse flowers in the windows, and there are public parks. It isn't dreary. Shops are well stocked, and the cafés and eateries see a steady stream of business.
Population is diverse, mostly humans in all colors, but also the native Kurtzen, smaller than humans, pale and hairless, and a dozen offworld species. Galactic unrest, the Separatist movement and all the rumors of assassination attempts in Coruscant, seems quite far away here. People discuss the scandals in the Ruling Synode, embezzlement at RepulsorCorp or the shortage of Namana fruit because of droughts in the south. Only one thing seperates this city from others: There are no droids around. No drones controlling traffic, no automated cleaners, no serving droids in the taverns. All the work is done by sentients.
It's about 4 in the afternoon, so the streets are still quiet, safe for the occasional children playing, or elderly taking advantage of the quiet to do their shopping.
@Murr, Alvaro, Jelvar, Gorrump:
Finally... Your little ship closes in on the small Landing Pad - the city doesn't have a real spaceport. You are already about 24 hours late, due to the clever little sabotage your prisoner performed on the Navicomputer when he managed to hotwire the door of his makeshift cell.
Sakan Vandar, a Bakuran native, wanted for industrial espionage and smuggling, has been a handful on this trip, and all you can look forward to is to finally drop him off at the local Court Hall... And to get out of this little ship, where you have been falling over each others feet for the last week.
"Republic Shuttle Nadir, this is Daris Control. Please come in on vector 23-5-17..."
@Axtel:
It's quiet in the little tapcafé where he's sitting, a rapidly cooling cup of caf in front of him. Somehow, he imagined the life in the city to be more interesting, but so far he has failed to find anything, either in the way of a criminal underground, a spacer to take him offworld or anything smelling of an adventure.
The waitress, an elderly human woman with graying hair and a low cut blouse that might have been alluring on someone twenty years younger and 15 pounds heavier, once again tries to catch his eye and smiles at him.
@Gled:
A hotelroom is a hotelroom everywhere. And they probably buy the furniture all in the same place. The Jedi she was supposed to meet are late, and will only arrive in a few hours, and so she has some more time to kill. By staring at her hands, wondering about the contents of the little bar in the room and what other sentients might do with it, or study a bit...
@Jiro:
This place doesn't have many disreputable taverns or cantinas, so the transfer of his package happened in a boring little tapcafé run by an old human woman. His contact, unobtrusive in the grey jumpsuit of a mechanic, came and went, and now he is on his own. At least until it is time to board the speeder bus to Salis D'ar, the Capital, and get a ship off planet there. He's the only customer here, except for the human boy sitting at the bar and nursing a cup of caf like a baby...
@Daken, Blake, Tito:
Nestled into the pillars of the aqueduct piping water into the factory sits the only cantina that isn't safe to visit without a blaster or looking strong. A Gammorrean bartender is like a calling card for a certain clientele... Not that the five people in here, a Zabrak, two humans, a Rodian and a cold eyed female Twilek really make up a crowd...

Re: [IC] All quiet at Bakura
Jelvar leans towrad the comm unit as he adjusts a few controls and says, "Roger, Shuttle Nadir heading in on vector 23-5-17." He then leans back into the seat as he adjusts a few more of the controls. "Finally we can get rid of that fugetive. He's been really annoying lately. Speaking of or fugetive, hey Gorrump How's he holding up?" He smiles to himself as he looks out the cockpit.

Blake
Blake
"What a lovely place you dug up Tito, remind me to let Daken pick next time." Blake looks disgustedly at the contents of the dirty glass in front of him and glances at the bartender. "I don't think that's detergent he's using to wipe these glasses with."
Blake, a human in his early twenties, is clean shaven with dark hair in an unkempt spike that defies the armoured helmet placed on the table beside him. He wears a long duster-like coat over some fairly robust looking armour plates. His carbine sits propped against his seat, easily to hand if needed. "So we're here, I think our mark has a place close by, I wonder if he frequents this dive too."

Re: [IC] All quiet at Bakura
Alvaro
Just near the doors to the outside of the cockpit. Since the initial breakout of the prisoner he had fallen into a trance. Using this, he reached out throughout the ship watching each little nuance of movement that he could within the force. Silently he kept an extra careful eye on their prisoner, and noted within a smirk that he was forever trapped beneath his watchful gaze as long as he could not disconnect himself from the Force, or whilst he was under their care.

Force Trance - DC 10 of Use the Force. I have a +10 mod. Do I need to roll for that?
Question: Can one use telepathy within a trance?

Murr Centura, Twi'lek Jedi
Murr Centura sits in the co-pilot's seat, examing the landing pad passively as Jelvar lands the ship.
"Heh. He's probably found yet another way to escape, turned his stun cuffs into a weapon and hidden in the fuel cells this time." The Twi'lek begins to perform a routine systems check, when a thought comes to him. "Maybe someone should check the fuel cells..."

No, you don't have to roll.
For now, your prisoner sits in his cell, feeling sullen and bored.
@Alvaro, Murr, Jelvar:
"Copy, Shuttle Nadir. And welcome to Bakura. Need..."
Suddenly, a burst of static disrupts the transmission, just before the shuttle touches down. After you have landed, an official in the green uniform of the RepulsorCorp Security who seem to run the town, can be seen running towards you over the landing field.
-
Re: [IC] All quiet at Bakura
"Something's wrong. Come on; we better check it out."
Murr rises from his seat and jogs to the access ramp, cautiously drawing a lightsaber as he does so. He steps off the ship and looks around for danger before addressing the security officer. "Is something the matter?"
-
Re: [IC] All quiet at Bakura
There is nothing in the vicinity that looks like it could be cause for alarm. In fact, the officer waves off Murr's concern.
"Communications failure. Don't worry, we'll have it fixed soon. Welcome to Bakura, Sir, do you need help to find your way around the place? It's not very often Jedi come here, you know."
The young man - bronze skinned, his dark hair cropped short - looks at you with unabashed curiosity, especially at the lightsaber at your belt.
-
Re: [IC] All quiet at Bakura
If he wasn't already red, Murr would likely be blushing with embarrassment. He hurriedly hangs the lightsaber in his hand next to the one on his belt and glances back at the ship.
"Do you know where the court hall is? We're here with a prisoner. Nothing exciting, I'm afraid, unless he tries to escape again..."

"Didn't know you were actually teaming up with me, as we weren't supposed to be a party yet.. I have no problem adjusting though.."
Tito (Sheet)
Tito looks like the average Rodian, although he's a bit on the heavy side.
He still wasn't happy that his ship was confiscated. Luckily, he found some people here with which he got quickly acquinted, and talked into helping them out with their contract. He wasn't sure bounty hunting was his thing, but he was a natural tracker, and he needed the chance to get off this planet.
He took a look at his glass and knew he was used to worse.
"You ever heard of a place called Anchorhead chum-o? They add free dust to your drinks, and they don't allow droids there either.. What's with these people anyway?" He takes another sip.
With drinks like these, who needs detergent. You could clean lavatories with it.
"Perhaps we ask the fellow behind the counter, no?"

Edit: What's with my perception lately? The bartender is Gamorrean, not human.

Re: [IC] All quiet at Bakura
Geld decides to indulge in something from the minibar and then see if there is anything interesting in the hotel. Perhaps looking for a game of sabaac.

Re: [IC] All quiet at Bakura
Alvaro
Appearances didn't matter to this Jedi. He couldn't see them even if the solid, brown band wasn't around his eyes. "The prisoner is still around and within his cell." He noted removing himself from the trance, and once more to the being who greeted them at the landing dock. It was strange, but he wasn't technically savvy thus he let it slide for now.
But just as he was cautious around this man, he would remain cognizant about he whom they kept captive. "If you wish, Sir." He continued within a bow of greeting. "I can bring you to where he is located."

Re: [IC] All quiet at Bakura
Daken Far
Daken chuckled grimly, and knocked back his shot. The alcohol burnt his throat well, and the zabrak gave a whoop after swallowing. The man was in his late twenties, with swarthy, tanned skin and an air of quiet confidence, even danger. The ritual tattoos on his face arced and broke in sharp corners, the overall effect unsettling and mysterious, although another zabrak might be able to decipher their meaning. The tattoos ended in two places on his forehead where his six short horns ran in two parallel lines along his bald scalp. He was dressed in a simple gray tunic and pants, with a rather large pistol in the holster at his belt. A wrist launcher, large and imposing, was attached to his left forearm. Daken looked at Tito.
"These people? I think the three of us are "These people"...more of us than them.." He muttered as he looked at Blake's helmet oddly, as though far away. He turned to Blake, "So, what's the plan?"

Re: [IC] All quiet at Bakura
Blake
"Well, let's see if I can find out whether he comes here at all, or if someone can tell us where he works, or lives."
Blake gets up from the table and attempts to coax the information from the bartender and clientele.

Re: [IC] All quiet at Bakura
Tito shrugged. "With these people, I actually meant within this city. I don't know about where you came from, but I'm used to having at least some droids around.. Don't you find it strange?" He gave a nod as Blake stood up, and continued his attention on Daken. "What precisely do we know about our mark anyway?"
-
Re: [IC] All quiet at Bakura
@Alvaro, Murr:
The officer nods. "Do you require transportation for the prisoner? The Court Hall is not far, but it might take about half an hour if you were to walk. I can com the station and ask them to send you a speeder."
@Geld:
In the lobby of the hotel she finds only the rather bored looking receptionist, a Kurtzen, but he can point her to several points of interest in the city - a holotheatre, a casino and a sportsbar, where it is also possible to gamble.
@Tito, Blake, Daken:
Blake's attempts at the Barkeeper are quite successful - crunching up his greentinged face, he carefully elaborates about pretty much every customer who came here in the last few days, what they consumed, and when they left again. This might take a while, but if your mark was here, he'll certainly tell you.
-
Re: [IC] All quiet at Bakura
"A speeder would be nice. Just... nothing that he can jump out of."
When the officer goes to call for transport, Murr glances at Alvaro and asks "should we bring him out here now?"
-
Re: [IC] All quiet at Bakura
"A speeder without a way to hop out of would be optimal... But retrieving the captive before the escort comes may turn out to be a hazard for this planet." He returned within a nod. "Thus I do believe it may be most optimal to wait."
-
Re: [IC] All quiet at Bakura
@Murr, Alvaro:
The speeder the officer requested arrives about 10 minutes later, a closed vehicle clearly intended to ferry prisoners. The driver, a stocky human woman with close cropped dark hair, in the same green uniform, leans out of the door.
"Hello, Jedi. Lets load up your troublemaker, shall we?"
She opens the rear of the vehicle...
-
Re: [IC] All quiet at Bakura
Geld wonders how long it's gonna take these jedi. "I'm terrible at waiting. I gotta find something to do. Excuse me?" Geld says to the bored receptionist, at least at the end. "Is there anything that needs fixed in the vicinity? I like to tinker with things."

Jiro orders something to eat feeling pleased the dropoff has gone smooth.
After finishing off the meal he takes a walk around the nearby area to stretch his legs after yet another space journey.

Re: [IC] All quiet at Bakura
Daken scratched a horn as he listened to Blake grill the barkeep, perfectly willing to wait until the human had gotten enough info.

Blake
"He's certainly helpful. Our guy does indeed come in here, a couple of times a week. He's not been in for a few days, so today might be the day, he'll give us the nod when he walks in."

Jelvar
Jelvar who had been fetching the criminal appeared with criminal in tow. "I see the transport is here. So, who wants to ride up front?" he asks the Alvaro and Murr,

Re: [IC] All quiet at Bakura
Alvaro
When the cruiser had arrived, Alvaro went in to retrieve the captive. He'd allow anyone to follow him in straight into the cabin where they stored him, but requested that he would see the prisoner out. As he was not restricted by mere human sight, but rather sight within the Force, he couldn't disappear as easily as most would think.
"I shall pass on being on the front."
-
Re: [IC] All quiet at Bakura
"I'll take the front then."
Climbing into the vehicle, Murr takes a glance at Sakan Vandar, feeling relieved that he'll soon be the court's problem.
-
Re: [IC] All quiet at Bakura
Tito
"And then what? Do we capture him, or do we blast him on sight? That'd be helpful to know before I attempt the first while I should do the other.."
-
Re: [IC] All quiet at Bakura
@Alvaro, Murr, Jelvar:
The man looks around furtively, but with all of you watching he doesn't have a chance to make a run for it. Two of you climb with him into the back, while Murr climbs in beside the driver.
The ride through the city is short, there's not much traffic. The Court Hall is an old fashioned building with a facade of steel and glass, looking almost Coruscanti in style, and therefore rather displaced. You drive in through guarded entrance at the back and stop in an underground chamber clearly intended for this purpose. Several more guards crowd around a terminal, all of them somewhat heavier armed than what you have seen so far.
@Geld:
The receptionist looks her up and down, then nods. "Sure, why not? We're having trouble with com system - no connection. I've called a technician, but that will take hours..." He steps aside to let her into the office area and to the com unit.
@Jiro:
The city might not be as beautiful as some you have seen, but it has a pleasant normalcy to it. People walk about, doing their business, none of them even looking at a stranger. Children are playing in a park, dodging through the trees and trying to catch each other... And old woman is watching them with a benevolent smile.

Re: [IC] All quiet at Bakura
Tito
As Tito listens to the answer to his question, his attention drifts. Concentration was never one of his best qualities. He examines the Twi'lek woman with some casual interest. Having no need to move his head nor roll his eyes, it wouldn't be easy to notice his scrutiny. He tries to see more clearly what she looks like and what she's doing at the moment.
-
Re: [IC] All quiet at Bakura
Murr steps out of the vehicle and stretches, still tense from the journey to Bakura. He begins to crack his knuckles as he walks around to the back of the vehicle, where he waits patiently for his comrades to step out with their prisoner.
