Arte manages to catch all the Skorupi, sending the shorted out corpses flying across the battlefield. The Zebstrika sighs in relief at the healing, head lulling contentedly. Romeo’s ball fails once again, not quite managing to contain the rampaging Skorupi.
The Drapion looks down towards where it struck Willy last time. Both claws shoot down and in a shower of dirt the Sandshrew is pulled above the earth. A Skorupi takes aim and, now that the Sandshrew doesn’t have a dirt shield, the armored claw of the Drapion goes straight through her leg. If not for the massive amounts of adrenaline coursing through Willy’s system, she likely would have fallen unconcious.

Diluvium, more fire. Diluvium nods before seeing that the Drapion mysteriously teleported away from him. He shakes his head and floats to M47, spitting more flames from the air at the Drapion.

Willy the Sandshrew will be missed.
The Rapion takes the shot from Dilumvium, looking up at it with rage filled eyes. Konoha burns the Skorupi into oblivion while the Litwick handles the other Skorupi on the cart. The carts continue to roll forward, handling the Drapion. A cry sounds from the Drapion, causing most of the Skorupi to actually reverse direction. The ones nearest the Drapion though rush Willy, aiming to make sure this creature cannot hurt their leader. A barrage of steel claws, poison barbs and other various assaults attack the Sandshrew. Only Paul’s training keeps the Sandslash standing, sheer rage at the Drapion causing her to below before preparing for a powerful blast of earth.

Spoiler98 to Willy.
And Poisoned.
SpoilerJUST WILLY.
Nobody else goes.
ONLY WILLY.
Rage fuels her. Rage is her. She can kill, she can maim, she can SLAUGHTER! She prepares to burst...
"Willy, NO!"
...And looks back at the human. She could slaughter...but they could slaughter her, too. She knows that to die here is fruitless. She digs down, and away to L45 (2 meters below, to make it not so easy on them). Poison eats at her, though. (-9, need help badly)
I guess Willy the Sandshrew is sticking around.
Willy manages to burrow away, the Skorupi all being too slow to catch the Sandshrew as she flees.

SpoilerOther guys.
Mjolnir, charge! And he does just that, making a beeline towards the metal monstrosities (M32).
Sparky screeches at 38, because it's still nearby.
[roll0]-Screech, drops def by 2 stages.
As you watch the horde of Skorupi continues to fall back, gathering around the Drapion. It just stands there, watching, as you roll into the distance. You continue to watch and see the other Skorupi beginning to pile up the corpses, gathering them from all around.
All around the carts people begin to nurse their wounds. Merchants try to wrap bleeding wounds, one shoots an Antidote into Willy. The one cart left behind slowly fades into the distance.
There is a collective air of relief as they fade into the distance. People begin patching up friends and allies, looking to the road ahead.
SpoilerSo, 16,000 Experience for this fight. Since this would be a lot for one Pokemon, here's how it will work. As a Trainer you may spend 10k of it to gain a Trainer Level. The remaining EXP would be distributed among any Pokemon that fought. So if Arte were to choose the level she'd subtract 10k from the total then apply the 1.2 to the EXP drop. Make sense?
Ethan sighs. Not from relief, but more from exhaustion. And some frustration. Now that the danger had passed (or at least it seemed), he could focus on the other issues that had come to his mind. Mainly, how these Skorupi came to be part machine. Had someone stolen his idea or just came up with it simultaneously. Someone had to have stolen his idea, there was no other way. Gather the Skorupi corpses on the cart. Let Sparky and Fairy zap them till their dead. I want to study them. He wanted to study the Drapion too, above any number of Skorupi. But it wasn't in the cards. It wasn't a smart move. Choke another thing to do in this Arceus Judged route later.
Ethan takes a thourough look at the Skorupi still on the lead cart, trying to find what he could without any tools on a fresh corpse.
Spoiler[roll0]
Also, taking the Trainer Level option, so that gives Ollie and Mjolnir 3,000 and Ethan Dual Wield!
Meanwhile, Sparky has managed to make her way back onto Gerald's head, which she bound up and now gently pats his head and coos as the fresh water courses through him. He cracks open an eye, and wipes some blood from one of them before looking around. He pets Sparky with his non bloody hand, which causes more of the light cooing noise.
"You guys brought me with you again? Huh..."
He honestly seems astounded at the very concept of not leaving an unconscious person to die in a ditch.
Romeo asks for a stop when they get to safety, so he can treat the injured on the other carts.
Spoiler2 Treat Minor Wounds, 4 Fresh Waters, and 2 Pain Killers for poison.
Artemis scrambles onto the cart as it slowly rolls away, breathing heavily and looking about ready to faint. *gasp* "Anyone... got... water?" *gasp* "Wait..." She pulls out a Fresh Water and downs it in seconds and crinkles the container trying to get the last out of it, still gasping. "Heh, think Gerald will be mad about me making a mess of his armor?" She looks at the armor with several dents and holes punched in it by claws and the large needle protruding from it, probably just below something important. She then almost passes out. Body needed to repair; strengthen torn flesh and sore muscles, fix a cracked bone or two probably, and recharge energy. Not yet. Sleep soon.
Diluvium floats back to the carts, remaining as stoic as always. "Cast." A bit more sun peaks out from the clouds, and Diluvium transforms into a small sun and seems to almost smile for the sake of it, for once. Aquilla ruffles his feathers and flies back out to keep an eye out for any more danger, chirping happily at the sudden change in weather. Sun! Feels great! Amazing! Could just fly off into it! Have to keep up with the Castform. She likes him too much... Aquilla thinks other bird thoughts as he watches from the back cart. Diluvium just sits like a lamp, warming the cart. "Good, Diluvium... Keep doing that. Feels good." Hey... how's everyone holding up? Jess, how's Taylor?
SpoilerArte downs another Fresh Water
Diluvium lights things up with Sunny Day
Ethan places a gentle hand on Gerald's shoulder. I'm sorry Gerald. I... commanded Wagner while you were unconscious. I tried to keep him out of danger. I'm sorry. I didn't want us to lose two Growlithe on this trip. I hope you can forgive me. He walks away before Gerald can respond. It was his fault Audwulf was gone and he risked Wagner. And for what? A few mangled corpses to study? Was it worth it? The risk? For once, Ethan didn't know.
"Didn't want to...Wagner? Wagner?!"
Gerald looks around in a panic for his growlithe. Please, not another one! The gentlemanly growlithe bounds forward, licking his owner's face. The cut from the rupi before crossing his face, the eye obviously having trouble, but otherwise doing well. Gerald hugs Wagner in relief, running his hand through the fur. Wagner definitely is a survivor, then...
"Good Wagner. Good boy."
After a short while, he notices the injuries on Sparky. Small scratches, but still, THAT WOULD NOT STAND. And he is shown the still living steelupi that hurt her.
"...You don't get to die yet."
He separates it from the others, and Sparky electrocutes the rest of the rupi until they burn out.
Mark stops halfway through tossing a Skorupi overboard, tossing the others on the front cart towards you.
Sparky's webbing didn't do much to make these things very usable and despite being unconscious, most of your advances are stopped by shifting plates. After way to many residual shocks from the webbing, you manage to find some strange device under some plates (barely held apart with part of a broken Pokeball) although you have no guesses as to its function.
The cart doesn't stop until much later; until then, you'll have to deal with helping those near you.
A few people curse at the harsh sunlight, shouting to make it go away. It only lasts for about thirty seconds, but the brief respite is all you needed.
"She doesn't seem too bad," Jessica says, cradling her head in her lap. "She took a nasty whack on the head when she got shot. If I'd been faster I could've made the shot miss. Or I could have healed her. I was too busy with the stuff in front. Taylor got hurt because I wasn't good enough," Jessica says downtroddenly.
Artemis tries to steady herself as she moves from one cart to the other. Still a bit woozy. She climbs unsteadily up onto Jessica's cart and sits next to the Psychic. Don't Muk it up this time, don't Muk it up this time... "It happens. She's okay is what's important. You did fine. You still kept her safe, even when the Skorupi attacked you guys and she went down. That's good enough in my opinion." Would a hug be proper now? She goes to give Jess a reassuring hug, but winces at the needle that was still imbedded in her armor. "Ack..." She grunts and pulls the pin out. I swear, when I find the person that made those things... She tears off a bit of her pant leg (jeans for Irn over there :P) under the armor and covers the wound to stop the bleeding. "Things looked like they were going well on your cart, circumstances accounted for. Don't beat yourself up over it. Learn from the mistakes, see where you could do better in a similar situation in the future."
Aquilla gives a disheartened chirp as the sun quickly fades, and Diluvium scowls at the reforming clouds. One of these days the weather will go on as long as I say so!
Ethan tries to retrieve the vaguely described thing.
Spoiler[roll0]
You manage to agilely get a hold of the object and pull it out slightly, stopping as some cords pull tight. Looking in, you see both wires and quite possibly veins and arteries feeding into the orb. It pulsates in your hand, glowing a sickly green. One wire sparks, almost making you pull back but you manage to keep yourself from pulling too hard. The Skorupi's eyes turn on at that moment and a claw shoots towards your arm, only to stop as the wire sparks again.
Since Romeo wasn't in a fit state to hop about carts while they were moving, he heals up anyone in his cart who needed it. Then he pulls out his Pokegear and phones his sister. 'Hey, how's things? We should be in Lavanderin a few days tops. The trip? Nah, nothing exciting. Seen a rare pokemon you may want to take a look at, but that's about it. Listen, can you do something for me? Can you find out anything you can about type-shifted breeding? If you created enough type shifted pokemon for a viable gene pool, could you create a sub-species? Why? Let's just say a passing interest.' He scratches Konoha behind the ear while he waits. She was proving a powerful new member to the team, already close in level to Elly.
Gerald takes the time to make a couple ground boosters (rhyhorn corpses), and takes a look at them, slightly stained with his blood. He then thinks at Jess.
We had to jettison most of our skorupi corpses from the first attack. Buy about $4500 of the para amarid from Mark and I can start the next set.
Jessica nods at you speech, a grateful look in her eyes. "Thanks-" she starts to say, before Taylor stirs.
"What, the muk, happened?"
You hear the chattering of keys as you talk. "What, no "Hi, how are you, Oh, I'm doing great?", just "Searches now!" she says sarcastically. "Type-shifted breeding," she mutters. "Looks like some specific shifts with certain Pokemon will stick but other than that it looks like you're out of luck. Any specific Pokemon in mind?"
You get no answer.
SpoilerEsh, you don't have telepathy. They aren't omniscient, reading everybody's minds all the time.
"Metal Skorupi and Drapions. Jess kept you safe when you were knocked out. Romeo and Sparky helped. We lost two more carts. Seems we eventually proved too much trouble to be worth attacking."
Ah judge it, can't ever be simple like that... Gerald gets up, still a bit shaky from the blood loss for a couple steps, and heads back towards their cart. They're the main line of defense, after all. Sparky has curled up on his shoulder by now, having not had a chance to sleep yet today, and Wagner follows. He has his dex in hand, just in case another attack follows.
SpoilerJust checking, you never know.
'Hehe, sorry. We encountered a horde of Steel-shifted Skorupi, easily over 100 so they must have bred. Caught some, so if we can get them under control we could think about breeding them. Look, to make up for my rudeness, I'll buy you dinner so we can catch up, and I'll get you a super rare egg. I promise.' Romeo would need to ask Ethan to breed Mjolnir again. While they needed the money from selling the egg they had, another Beldum egg could help Alana and her breeding business.
Taylor mouths "Thanks" when she hears what Jessica says, looking at her friend.
"Where the muk did those things come from? There's no way those things were natural."
"Steel-Skorupi isn't on the list," Alana mutters. "We'll see how it goes for breeding, but I'm not sure if it is. Now if you had an Ice-Type Houndour or something, then we'd be talking. It also says the original has to be a natural shift or something, not something a Trainer did. I'm only seeing one natural Steel Shift on here an that's for Geodude."
"Well boss said that they had a shipment of Skorupi that got sent and that something went wrong and they got away. Seems she failed to mention them being steel synced."
'There were over a hundred of them. Either they are a natural breed that hasn't been seen before, or someone found a way to type shift en masse. We have male and female, so we can at least give it a try. Though I hope if someone did type shift these themselves, they at least sterilized them.'
'Actually, does the Steel Geodude listing have a contact number? If we could talk to someone who knows about these things, that may be a good idea.'
