This was actually pretty fun to write. I forgot how writing 1 on 1 conversations were. The emotions and the thoughts of two different people? Its absolutely fascinating when you sit down and analyze them. Anyways, enjoy everyone.

Mordokai won't kill Nil. Not if I have anything to say about it.
Finally remembering to subscribe to this thread.
Whoo, it continues! I am still reading this, as is likely readily apparent by now. :smalltongue:
Ánd where did Lix's crazy go? I was kinda looking forward to some kind of resurrection scheme. :smallamused:
Yeah, but you aren't sane enough to judge. :smalltongue:
Paladin Academy: Chapter 2: Part 24
-Cast-
Viola
Lix
Recaiden
SpoilerViola was staring at the ceiling. She couldn't believe she was stuck in this bed again. It seemed that fate was quite determined to keep her confined to it. That or she had secretly developed a love for this particular bed.
Even though the sun had set a couple hours ago, she wasn't tired at all. Rabbit had come for a moment, but that was mainly to check to see if Kurama was still there before she left. Viola's eyes continued to wander until the came to rest on Lix a couple beds away. She quickly looked away, unsure of what to do. Lix hadn't moved at all since Viola and regained consciousness. She just laid there, her back to Viola. Knowing how much Lix disliked her currently, Viola didn't know if she dared speak to her.
Her boredom got the best of her and she whispered over to Lix.
"Hey Lix. You awake?"
There was nothing but silence for a few minutes. Just when Viola assumed Lix had to be asleep, she suddenly spoke.
"What do you want?"
Viola looked over at her, suddenly feeling awkward.
"Um... well, I'm not particularly tired and I was hoping to have someone to talk to currently and..."
Lix didn't move.
"So?"
"So, uh, do you want to talk for a few minutes?"
Lix was silent for a moment.
"You're probably going to talk anyways, so go ahead and talk."
Viola paused for a moment before changing the subject.
"Uh, what I meant to say was, how did you get hurt?"
Lix responded bluntly.
"I got stabbed in the back by Recaiden. Thought it was obvious."
"Ah, yes it is. Sorry."
She looked away, not knowing what to say next, or whether she should continue to. She then half-heard, half-sensed a sudden sound from Lix. She looked over to her in alarm for it almost sounded like Lix had started crying.
"What's wrong? Are you alright?"
"He got away!"
Lix seemed to contract into herself as she said this.
"He was right there, yet he got away from me. How could I let him get away?!"
Viola continued to look at her.
"Well, you still did your best. I mean, he has evaded everyone else before. Don't blame yourself."
"No, I was going to capture him! I was going to catch him in his name!"
Viola blinked.
"Who's name?"
"Grim! He was the first sent out to capture him in the first place, and he failed! But I would've undone all of that, but I failed as well...!"
Viola was silent for a minute. Finally, she spoke.
"Lix? Why are you so loyal and care so much about Grim? What is it about him that makes you want to do everything for him?"
Lix finally rolled over to look at Viola. Her eyes were red with tears leaking out of it. However, with a stern and defensive look, she answered Viola.
"Because... Grim was my partner!"
*************
Recaiden continued to walk done the dirt road. He was still cheerful at a job successfully done against all odds. He had killed a high priority target that was sure to reap him a huge reward as well as that target being the same person who had stopped him in his earlier assassination attempt. He was so wrapped up in this happy thought that he wasn't paying particular attention to where he was stepping.
Suddenly he stopped, his foot hovering in mid-air. A weird feeling came over him as he looked down. Just below his feet was a small flower that he could see in the faint moonlight. It was interesting that he had stopped suddenly to avoid stepping on this insignificant plant before him. Although, he hadn't been paying much attention, something he almost never does. Perhaps it had become habit to analyze things he didn't see properly.
After a moment of deliberation, he stepped over the flower. He then turned to look down at it.
"You're lucky. I'm in such a good mood right now that I see no need to go out of my way to step on anything else today. Enjoy yourself now."
He then turned and started walking down the road again, humming pleasantly to himself.
You are all equaly complelty off your rocker, So Say The Dancing Walruss King In The Sky !
"Lix you're a good paladin but you're getting too involved in this. We do things by the book here, we can't have loose canons running around.Quote:
"Because... Grim was my partner!"
Give me your cristal and your sword, you're off the case !"
(Lix's and Viola's color are a bit hard to tell apart, I have to say)
Turning out excellently, I say.
Wondering if the Recaiden scene is foreshadowing something...
Something makes me want to start using the Good Grim avatar again... :smalltongue:
Redeeming Grim of this story might be one hellish task, though (pun intended)... Expecially so now that even contacting him is bound to be rather difficult.
Also, wouldn't taking paladin's crystal render them comatose? In this case, I don't think it would be a Good act to demand it. :smalltongue:
Oh, no! The big reveal.
I'll hate to see how the assassin reacts when he finds out that he fails. He'll probably go out to a meadow of flowers, just to step on every last one of them, or something like that.
Or, he'll punch a wall out of anger.

Viola
Rabbit
Blue
SpoilerViola awoke when Rabbit had entered the next morning. She checked on Lix and discharged her to her own room upon seeing Lix's wound mostly healed. Rabbit then made her way over to Viola while Lix left without looking at Viola at all.
"Here."
She put a folded up slip of parchment on the nightstand, next to Viola's crystal.
Viola looked up at her.
"What's this?"
"I was told to give that to you from Nil. I don't know what for."
She turned and walked out, closing the door behind her.
Viola unfolded the parchment and read familiar elegant curved writing.
Young Viola. Please grace me with your presence today up in my tower. I wish to hear the wondrous sound of your voice again after it nearly being silenced from us forever.
-Blue
Viola looked up at the crutch propped up on the wall nearby. After a quick glance at the bed she hated being in, she quickly leapt out of the bed, grabbed the crutch and her crystal, and began making her way down the winding passages. However, she would pause once in while when the pain in her side started to protest and to look over her shoulder. It was unnerving that Recaiden had followed her silently for who knows how long.
She emerged out onto the training grounds where she could see the devastation of the attack. The ground was ripped and pulled up all over as well as sections of the fortress had been broken off. She slowly walked out, taking great care to not trip or stumble over the uneven ground. She saw Kurama in the distance as he also spotted her. He waved at her and started hurrying over. Halfway there, Rabbit seemed to materialize out of nowhere and grabbed hold of him. After yelling at him with exaggerated hand movements and pointing, Kurama dejectedly looked back at Viola, gave a short wave goodbye, and turned to walk off with Rabbit following him closely.
Viola waved apologetically back, thankful she didn't have Rabbit's wrath on her as well. She then turned and made her way over to Blue's tower. As tradition, she looked up at how high the tower was before she began her long descent up. After some time she finally arrived at the door before Blue's room. She readjusted her grip on the crutch and knocked on the door.
"Enter."
She reached out and opened the door, stepping in awkwardly as she closed the door behind her. As usual, Blue was sitting in the armchair with his back to the door. He spoke before she could.
"It is wonderful to see you again, Viola."
Viola smiled.
"Well, not yet. You still have your back to me."
"And so I do. Excellent observation."
He got up and turned around.
"Come. Sit."
He gestured over at a table with 2 seats as well as some tea set out.
Viola set her crutch aside and sat down. She reached out for the cup of tea.
"So, what is this about?"
"Can wanting to see you not be a reason?"
Viola took a sip of tea.
"Well yes, but Rabbit said Nil told her to give me the note. If you'd just wanted to see me the note would've appeared their magically."
She smiled up at him with an all knowing smile.
Blue's eyes slanted slightly.
"A gift you have surely received to have intelligence as well as beauty."
He then sat down opposite her.
"You are quite right. I'm suppose to keep an eye on you for the time being."
Viola nearly dropped the cup.
"What?!"
She stood up, leaning slightly on the table.
"I'm fine Blue! I'm sure Nil has good intentions, but I can watch over myself here. So please tell Nil I'm fine."
She turned to leave.
"Nil knew you'd deny this. However, even he cannot betray a direct order from Mordokai."
Viola stopped. Slowly she turned to look back at Blue.
"Mordokai?"
Blue took a sip of tea himself. Or it looked like he did. She couldn't see his mouth under the shadow covering his face from his hood.
"I relayed the events that transpired yesterday to him and he chose some rather... direct words towards Nil. He ordered him to have you watched by no less than 4 other paladins at all times. Nil managed to convince him that I would suffice."
Viola sat heavily back into the chair, almost swearing.
"Damn Mordokai."
She stared off into space for a moment.
"You know I'm still injured. I don't think it would be best for me to keep walking up and down all those stairs on your tower and then up the stairs back to the infirmary."
"Mordokai said at all times."
He flicked his staff and a section of the wall melted away, revealing another room that held a spare bed.
"I've always wanted a sleepover."
Viola turned slightly red, though this was from irritation rather than embarrassment.
"You don't really expect me to agree to this?!"
Blue's eyes shifted to what she guessed was an amused expression.
"Fine! On one condition."
"You're not really in that position, but go ahead."
He took another sip of tea.
"You answer every question I have while I'm up here. And that will include why you can't cast offensive magical spells."
Blue coughed over his sip of tea. He looked up at her, eyes wide. Viola returned the look with a fierce determination. As the silence passed for a couple minutes, she began to feel nervous and out of place, but she held her gaze. Finally Blue spoke.
"You can't know Kujos, can you? You'd be excellent at poker."
She blinked, not knowing what 'poker' was.
"Very well, agreed. However, if you could hold off on those type of questions for the time being."
Viola smiled and nodded. She then began to resume sipping her tea.
...
(starts snickering quietly to herself)
Cue shipfics. :smalltongue:
Not exactly the kind of responses I was expecting, but they'll do.:smalltongue:
Wow, even here I'm not immune to that.
But yes, Blue X Viola OTP. I vouch for it. :smalltongue:
(Though story!Blue is much more, um, forceful than I expected. No abusing your position, Blue!)
I still prefer my shipfic.

Tin tea pot
Spoiler
Oh teapot, how our love is forbidden, yet we continue...
Hush love, we will show the world that a paladin and a teapot can live together in a stable relationship...
Hey guys, thought I'd give you an update. Long story short, Finals, Christmas Holiday, and new college has thrown me completely out of routine. I've been spending recent days trying to get back into a routine and settle down in my new classes.
As an example of how hectic its been, last weekend I went and competed in the event of "Global Game Jam" that my new school was hosting. In short, we were given a theme world wide and had 48 hours to create, design, and develop a game. Average amount of sleep my team got was 4 hours that entire time. Good news is, my team won 2nd place in the school! Worldwide? No idea, they are still judging those.
For anyone who wants to see the game my team developed in that time and also play it yourself, here's a link to the game. Any feedback you want to give is fine, andhope you all have fun.
I'll keep trying to adapt to the new schedule of my life and try to get back to this soon.
Good work on your game and college. Hope things calm down for you soon.
Wow, hectic school and new schedules. That's always hard. I know how that is. It seems I hardly have a single hour to rest anymore.
The game seems pretty good, from what I've played. (Is it better to play it full-screen or with a very small screen? I can't decide yet.)
I haven't commented on the most recent section of this story yet, so I'll do that now. It is pretty good. Continues the story. I like how the sentence structure and paragraph structure varies. (Many writers write the same-sized and same-structured sentences over and over, making all the sentences seem like they were written by a robot. I know I've fallen into that bad habit several times.)
Oh, and adverbs. I love adverbs. They're amazingly useful, as long as there's not too many. It seems that, right now, there's just the right amount.
Need to read awesomeness, I cant wait no more... tell mommy I love her... X_X
All that said, I totally understand what youre going through, hope you can come back soon
