They're not bad but the pixely-quality kinda confuses me.

Paint.NET. On a laptop touchpad.
More out of convenience than anything.

You should try OpenCanvas.
It has a waterpaint tool and everything :smalltongue:
Nah, you use what you want and I what I want :smallwink:

Re: Prime's Art Thread III
I have Photoshop and a Bamboo. They just aren't in a convenient place. :smalltongue:

That's what I get for not noticing a second page. I meant the newest image you posted looks like her.

Re: Prime's Art Thread III
Hmmm... I currently have access to Photoshop and my Bamboo. I wonder if there'll be any improvement...
Wait, I did it again, didn't I?

Re: Prime's Art Thread III
The waist and upper thighs need slimming in my opinion.
And yes, you did draw another Touhou character.
-
Re: Prime's Art Thread III
I think he refers to "drawing ultra thick characters"
Do you sketch first, prime?

The positioning of the arms makes it worse.

The arms look quite fine though. :smallconfused:

Not much in this case. I drew guidelines for the arms, and another to keep things vertical.

I mean they cover the upper part of her stomach, making it look wider.

They are a little short, making it look like she is broader than she is.
But it looks good enough, Prime. Everybody have something they can improve

Re: Prime's Art Thread III
Disclaimer: i can't draw worth anything, have some salt at hand :smallwink:.
The ankles. I think the perceived fatness can be blamed on those. If the ankles were slimmer, the legs would look more muscled than fat. The ankle might be as slim as 50% the calves*. Your's are at 75% or so for Meling here and closer to 85% on the older pics.
Maybe extend the upper line of the arm to define the elbow more. Would make the arms look longer too.
But otherwise it's quite nice .
Except you 'forgot' her pants :smalltongue:.
*english as second language, terminology a bit lost V Thanks .

Those would be the calves (calf, singular, calves, plural).

Re: Prime's Art Thread III
Is this an improvement?
Comparison:
EDIT: Coloured version
Still have to fix those rakshasa hands.
-
Re: Prime's Art Thread III
The thing with the ankles certainly helped.

Definitely.

Re: Prime's Art Thread III
A lot better, nice work, Primey
Now to nitpick on irrelevant details (:smalltongue:)
Just from my point of view the feet look a bit too short, the shoe doesn't seem to have enough space for the toes. Might just be me, though
Oh! And her hand look reversed to me, is her thumb facing the viewer?
-
Re: Prime's Art Thread III
Much better .
I think the 'rakshasa hands' come from the 'bump' in the hand following the line from the elbow, makes it look like a thumb. Making it a smooth curve and maybe elongating the finger a bit could help? Also, wouldn't the thumb be hidden behind the fist, showing only four fingers to the viewer in that pose and angle?

Started a thread for getting avs to have transparent backgrounds in programs that don't support them.

And while most of her looks nice... well, I can't stop staring the potato head.

Re: Prime's Art Thread III
For me it's the straight-as-ruler legs :smalltongue:.

Re: Prime's Art Thread III
Look at the filename. Please. :smalltongue: And take it easy.
Though it turned out better than I expected. Drawn with a mouse.

Still taking suggestions here.

Well, on one note, I just realized you don't have any art of male characters up here yet. What gives? :smalltongue:

I've drawn a guy or two. But my problems lie in making things too chunky, so I've been practicing with feminine forms.
Oh, the China pic has an improved version on DA. And it has more comments than all my other deviations combined. >_<
