"Why eliminate them at all? Just walk in, kill DeFoe, steal the rock, and walk out like nothing happened at all. My bet is that our target hasn't even told them about the stone for fear that they might steal it. "

"Why eliminate them at all? Just walk in, kill DeFoe, steal the rock, and walk out like nothing happened at all. My bet is that our target hasn't even told them about the stone for fear that they might steal it. "
"I signed up for this job so that I could kill someone. If the only person we kill is DeFoe, we've at least got to make it slow. C'mon, please?"
Amana
Amana frowns slightly at that. "A slow kill? Too dangerous. To kill him, we should make it a quick, easy asassination." after a quick pause, she adds: "If we make it slow, we need to get him somewhere where he won't be heard. Then we can burn him. But for subtltey, poison could be good. But I do agree he should be eliminated."
I heard a poem a while back... It went something like this... 'Some say the world will end in fire, / Some say in ice. / From what I've tasted of desire / I hold with those who favor fire...'"
A grin spreads across Horace's face.
"Yes. Get him somewhere he won't be heard. Then watch him burn..."
"I have a plan. Horace and Ugruk will kill DeFoe and take the stone, while Amana and sneak up on the roof and dispose of the rattakin. Then if things go bad with the gate guards, they'll have no support
Horace gave a little sideways grin.
"The gnome might be worth something after all. Good plan. I'm in favor of it."
After a few moments of silence and rolling his eyes at the gnome, Ugruk nods his head in agreement.
As long as I get to kill something I'm fine with it.
((Is everyone ready to fast-forward to the DeFoe mansion approach?))
((Yuppers))
Amana
"I'd prefur to deal with Defoe myself...however, your plan does have it's own merits. I'll follow it."
[Fast-forward]
You arrive at the DeFoe residence at the pre-arranged hour, and have your first good look at the place. Most of Beachhead is a mismatch of architecture, with Dwarves building next to Elves building next to Halflings building next to Humans, and this area is no different. On one side is an elegant wood mansion of obviously elvish principals, and on the other is an elaborate and ornate construction reminiscent of the more decadent portions of Human culture. As for the Defoe residence, it is rather unremarkable in comparison. A trained eye might see some Dwarven tendancies in the plain stone facade, but if the craftsman was a Dwarf then he was a Dwarf building for humans, with an eye towards Human sensibilities of proportion and æsthetics. On the whole, the place is attractive in a way that would not draw the eye. Even the Wolfkin out front look generally civilized and dutiful, unlike many of their kin you have known. They nod to you in passing, but otherwise ignore you until you approach them. They seem used to gawkers...
((I've been waiting for someone else to do the talking. Horace's only social skill is Intimidate.))
Amana
Amana gazes at the structure they were to infiltrate. Then she turns and starts walking on. "So, Gnome. Any specific ideas on how to get there and eliminate the guards? Or how to get our friends inside?"
OOC: Also been waiting for someone else!
"We just say we have a business meeting with DeFoe and walk right in."
((who has the highest bluff skill?))
(((is Dr. Maru named after Dr. Mareau?)))
((None of you that are here have Bluff trained. As for Dr Maru, that's in the OOC thread.))
"You tell them, gnome," Horace suggests, "it was your idea."
The gnome casually walks up to the guards and says Hello. I am Herr Doktor Von Scheiffenburg, and this," pointing at Amana "Eez my lovely assistant Celine Cromvell. Vee are 'ere to see Herr Mister DeFoe, on an urgent beesiness matter."

((must of screwed up my typing]
[roll0]
Aww crap
SpoilerWell, as they say, no plan survives contact with the enemy.
Horace steps forward out of the shadows, his hand at his belt.
"And if you don't believe we're doctors, we can demonstrate our surgical prowess... by removing a few of your organs. Let's start with the heart... I'm sure you can live without that..."
SpoilerIntimidate: [roll0]
In the words of my bazooka-wielding shark friend...
Aw crap...
Amana
"Please forgive our hasty friend with his jokes. He likes to think he's funny. The only reason we brought him was to show us Mr. DeFoe's residence, so we wouldn't get lost. It's our first time to this city. Rest assured, he won't be coming in with myself and the Doctor."
Spoiler[roll0]
And, I guess, [roll1]
"Please excuse zees blabbering idiot. For insulting you noble volfkin, I shall have my bodyguard" motioning to Ugruk, "beat him for hees insolence." he smacks Horace on the back of the head
((Diplomacy [roll0]))
The two wolfkin seem rather overwhelmed by the sudden activity. One turns to the other...
"Hey Ed, any appointments set for today?"
"No, I'm sure I'd remember. It's been weeks since the last one, and he always lets up know in advance."
"Right, then."
They both level their suddenly-not-so-decorative-looking Halberds, but do not advance.
((Basically, they're "hostile" and no longer flatfooted, but not attacking.))
SpoilerInitiative: [roll0]
Amana
Amana's eye twitches slightly, as she prepares to summon her magic, if need be.
SpoilerReady an action to cast burning hands if combat starts, catching as many combatants as possible.
[roll0], ref 13 for half.
[roll1]
"Come friends, we obviously aren't in the right place." Amana doesn't back down, however, waiting to see if her companions leave.
The gnome walks slowly backwards inserting a bolt into his crossbow behind his back. "As I said before, eet is an urgent beesiness matter. I didn't have time to make an appointment"
((Initiative [roll0]))
They keep eyeing you warily, not ready to make the first move.
((They're taking Ready Actions of their own; initiatives [roll0] and [roll1]))
((I'm going to a Seahawks game today so I won't be here for a while))
SpoilerUgruk can't beat an initiative of 24, so I'm going to go ahead.
"Okay, that's it, forget the plan, let's just kill them all!"
Horace's belt comes alive in his hands as he moves to a spot about a chain's length in front of the guard to the left. He quickly drops into a fighting stance and lashes out with his chain, attempting to channel the darkness sealed within him as he does.
SpoilerMove action to get to a spot 10 ft away from the left guard, swift action to assume Island of Blades stance, standard action to attack, attempting to use the partially sealed Drain Vitality maneuver. Drain Vitality DC is 14 if it works.
Attack: [roll0]
Damage: [roll1]
The wolfkin are caught off guard by your sudden reach, but the rattakin on the roof are not; two quarrels strike down at you (([roll0] and [roll1])). However, your attack strikes true, and the wolfkin is now bleeding profusely from his side. At the same time, Amana's Burning Hands explodes, catching both Wolfkin ((ref saves: [roll2] and [roll3]))!
The one Wolfkin is heavilly injured (though seemingly unaffected by the shadow technique Horace attempted), but advances and swings for Amana (([roll0])). The other advances to engage Horace himself (([roll1])).
