It's not funny.

Are the boards wood from the haunted forest? or do we not know yet?

Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
We do not know, and yes, they totally are. :smalleek:

Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
I think it's interesting that Super McNinja obeys Radical's instructions without any hesitation. I doubt that actual McNinja would have absolutely no qualms about sabotaging something Chuck Goodrich built.

I haven't read D.A.R.E in ages, is there a precedent set for people becoming more evil while on the drug?
Also, we actually have no idea if he obeyed Radical, as he might have hidden some kind of fail-safe in to prevent whatever Radical's doing from working.

Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
I find it... odd that King Radical just assumes that Old is working for him. Maybe he really is. McNinja clone confusion.
-
Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
I think at this point it's obvious that everyone knows Doc is McLuchador. King Radical's said a couple times that he feels the Doc is the closest thing to radical Cumberland naturally had to offer, if he found out that the doc was infiltrating his organization and was, on that basis, willing to work for him for awhile, I imagine he'd find it amusing.

I don't think it's quite that simple. Someone who's a natural ninja and hepped up on ninja steroids is probably going to have to do the most ninjalike things he possibly can. Since a ninjalike operation was all set up and ready to go, when he went on his ninja bender, he did the most ninjalike thing possible (that mission) in the most ninjalike way possible.
This was the point where it became obvious to me that His Majesty at least suspects that Looch is Doc

Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
The problem is, with this comic it's just so hard to tell. Either the characters are comically clueless or they are incredibly devious. Never anything in between. :smalltongue:

There is another possibility: he might have secretly sabotaged the wooden planks somehow, so it only seems that he did the assignment.

That would be a good explanation. But I have to wonder … is this perhaps the result of the Ninja drug?
Perhaps McNinja's was so hopped up on ninja sauce that he snuck into an alternate dimension where Old was also working for King Radical?
Or perhaps his ascended consciousness recognized he was in danger of being found out and was able to somehow change reality itself, making everyone believe that Old McNinja was working for Radical all along?

The more I think about it, the more likely it is. I mean, do any of you remember, how oblivious Doc can be, when it comes to his disguises?

Mitzi more or less stated earlier (last arc, right?) that a "real" ninja doesn't have ethical qualms about who he or she works for, and that Doc was an anomaly because his combination of medical ethics and Batman-worship caused him to be a judgmental vigilante. Getting hopped up on ninja drug might have overrode Doc's whole superego and turned him into a perfect mercenary.

Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
The thing that confuses me right now is that Old was in on the ruse to convince King Radical that that McLuchador wasn't Dr. McNinja (the fake fight scene between them at the hospital), so if he's now working for KR and loyal enough to point out the Dr. why didn't he just tell KR about everything before this?
-

That wasn't old doing the fake fight, it was chuck.
We hadn't seen old since his first appearance. Until now.

Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
OLD, YOU TRAITOR! :smallmad:
I guess that answers that quandary.
-
Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
It feels awfully contrived, even for Dr. McNinja... is it possible that this is just a hallucination sequence as a result of the double-dose ninja drug?

Which is funny...because in reality Mcninja is a pretty terrible person.
-
Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
I'm hoping this is part of some wild plan of Old's to avenge Doc's death by completing his mission.
-
Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
Next comic "You caught me. I am indeed Dr. Mcluchador...cleverly disguised as Dr Mcninja!"
I think the fact that Old is working for Rad and willing to betray Doc shows that Rad isn't a complete villain though.
Also, why did no one question why he was dressed like a Dr instead of wearing overhauls?
-
Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
Oh wait are people on Radical's side here?
-
Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
frick! I was just going to say that the real old mcninja really works for king radical, but I was too late.

Well yes, that's part of the joke. In the same strip, as I recall, Mitzi makes the very good point that Doc's "morals" are completely arbitrary and just him setting himself up as a superhero. His heart's in the right place, but his ego gets in the way of even basic common sense, let alone actively being a good person.
Which isn't to say he doesn't try, he's just got his priorities messed up to the point of insanity.
-
Re: Dr McNinja III: You Rad Bro?
Having one side life saver and the other side brutal killer with both instincts whispering in your ear every day will mess a person up.
