Sakura grins. "I guess we'll find out soon." She puts her arm around him again and rests her head against him. She laughs a little. "Those books I've been reading don't making it sound too easy, though."

[Mithar Keep - Bedroom]
"Maybe I'm not the one you should be talking to about it then. If this dream was about Ilpholin, then it would probably be best if you spoke to her." Harnel shrugs. He has no ability to interpret dreams at all.
[Mithar Keep - Kashi]
Harnel just translates whatever needs to be translated, so he can be skipped here.
[Mithar Keep - Kitchen]
Stunningly, Harnel doesn't have much to say here either, but he does indeed look grateful for the apology.[Fettina's Suite]
Evan puts on a good face, "Nah, I'll be fine. Come on, let's go meet your sisters. Being surrounded by hot women is always a good thing."
Mithar Keep - Kashi
Cessie will be able to feel rather strong earth magic coming from Kashi, not just a spell on him, but as part of his very being. It should be similar to the earth elementals Cessie can summon, if not stronger.
This may clue her in to a very important fact. Whatever Kashi is, he's not exactly a real dragon.
Mithar Keep - Kashi
"Interesting, it would seem he's some sort of magical construct. A golem of some sort. I can't really explain the growth however. Must be aether energy involved somehow. Very curious..." She looks at Kashi with new-found interest.
"I think a closer inspection is required. Are you going to deliver the gifts now Harnel? It's thankmas tomorrow and I did have a gift for you once you return."
[Mithar Keep - Bedroom]
"Yes, I suppose you're right Harnel. As soon as I'm feeling better I'll go and talk with her." Cessie replies while trying to relax in her bed.
This scene can probably end here.
[Mithar Keep - Kashi]
Harnel looks at Cessie rather flatly, "I was leaving to go deliver the gifts when you said, 'Watch him while I do research,' dear." The amusement is clear is his voice though.
Mithar Keep - Kashi
Kashi stares at Cessie, puzzled by the foreign words coming out of her mouth.
"Snnyuuui~? <What do you mean? I'm a dragon... right?>"
Well, clearly he thinks otherwise. Silly Cessie, you can't even tell what's a dragon anymore.
Mithar Keep - Kitchen
Kirin will finish her food and wait patiently wait for her hosts to finish. It's only polite, you know. She doesn't start any more conversations for now.
[Sparrow's Fall, World of Eight Moons]
Eventually, there shall possibly be a rematch! Mark my words! Spec isn't one to admit defeat so easily! Trium may have won the first battle but the war is far from over! :smallwink::smalltongue:
Next time, she might even be ready for Trium's sensory overload attacks!
"I have a younger sister...or had one, at least. I don't know whether or not she's well or alive anymore. We sorta lost contact with each other when I chose to join the gladiatorial games out of necessity. She was a brilliant girl, much smarter than myself, I'm afraid."
There's a moment of silence and hesitation before Spec continues. Her eyes are alive with fondness. She really did care for her sister. She still does, even though her sister is dead, but Spec isn't aware of that yet.
"Have you ever kept any pets? If so, which was your favorite one and why?"
You're cheating, Spec! You asked Trium two questions!
Oh! And happy belated birthday C'nor! I would've written that earlier (and I might have, come to think of it...) but my mind hasn't been around as of late.
And merry Thanksmas to all of you folks reading this post!

[Clarissa's Sanctuary]
...
Dave doesn't sound very concerned about his wife's current dearth of good health/hit points. But never mind that. I'm certain that Clarissa can't be slain so easily. There is another separate issue to heed here, however, namely the state of Dave's offspring that were developing within Clarissa. Fortunately, they are only blobs of cellular gunk at this stage! If they weren't, then I'm sure that the event which shall ensue after I complete this sentence would haunt Dave for the rest of his mortal life.
Clarissa's body is rife with metal, is it not? Metal is a fine conductor of electricity. The tips of the fingers attached to Clarissa's right hand shine with that violet light which frequently accompanies her spell weaving. It must be iconic by now. Then there comes a crunch as an invisible spiked boot stomps on her hand, silencing her spell and inflicting some damage, but not enough to be more than a minor inconvenience to Clarissa. Of course, when raw energy leaps out of the invisible man's left and right palms and surges through Clarissa's body, springing from metal shard to metal shard, causing her to literally light up like a light bulb, she doesn't feel so great. Heck, she can't even breathe. And now it looks like she's beginning to lose consciousness.
An odious assault, is it not? It did claim ten budding mortal lives in one blast.
At this point, Dave might find the ground beneath his feet slowly dissolving into nothingness. If he remains in his position much longer, he will likely plummet down to hell which lies miles below. The fall and landing probably wouldn't kill him, but the trip probably wouldn't exactly be harmless either.
[Sparrow's Fall, World of Eight Moons]
Thanks!
Trium grins, and laughs.
"That's two, you know. But I'll answer both anyway. Yes, I've had pets. Quite a few, in fact... Of the ones that I remember, my favorite was probably a female star-raven, named Rima.
Why did you have such a hard time believing in magic at first? And do you now?"
[Talnissa's]
If I'm reading everything right, which, likely, I'm not, because it's three in the morning, Kara should be able to hit the target fairly well, once she starts doing so.
And Talnissa makes a mental note to teach her girlfriend how to shoot better. Though, to be fair, she's almost certainly not had a chance to practice with something like the shield-gun before.
Clarissa's Sanctuary
Dave isn't worried because he doesn't think that the Clarissa with him is his Clarissa, because she doesn't eat babies and such.
He never knew he'd miss that part of her!
And when the ground starts disappearing it doesn't particularly freak him out.
"what."0_0
However he turns to run from the disappearing floor.
[Sparrow's Fall, World of Eight Moons]
"The concepts behind it are still hard to grasp."
Spec sighs. Oh darn! Why did the magic question have to come up in this discussion?
"My main gripe about magic is that it is largely nonsensical. I mean, where's the power being harnessed coming from anyway? Following up that question, how is the magic so precise? Even if it could rightly be said to exist, it would be finicky and impossible to effectively direct! Period! People have serious trouble routing even electricity properly! Can I accept that there is magic? Barely. Could I ever comprehend it? Negative. No chance."
"What brought you to the structure I ruined the day we first met? Were you out on ordinary, dull errands or was something more substantial afoot?" :smallconfused:
-------
[Clarissa's Sanctuary]
The evaporating floor continues to vaporize as Clarissa's power dramatically decreases! The floor in Clarissa's immediate vicinity remains solid, but an enormous crack that has voided the structural integrity of the platform, threatening to snap it in half at a moment's notice!
A single Phoenix slices through the cloud cover underneath the crumbling landscape. It might be convinced to soften Dave's landing! The only other option available to Dave appears to be free falling.
Clarissa is really going to be miffed at Dave when she recovers...if she ever recovers.
Clarissa's Sanctuary
Dave figures she'll be okay since this is her sanctuary after all.
Which now he decides to jump off the disappearing floor to land onto the phoenix's back.
[Clarissa's Sanctuary]
Yeah! That's the spirit! Abandon part of your wife in her time of dire need, David! That is the correct procedure in this case, especially on Thanksmas. :smalltongue:
The Phoenix is leapt onto! It flaps its wings frantically toiling to stabilize itself before rapidly diving down toward hell!
Hell...
This layer of it at least...
It looks like a modern city with old, worn cement buildings, hovercars, air pollution, and rivers of magma and lava dividing the city into quadrants. From above, it is eerily similar in design to the Aztec city of Tenochtitlan with a gorge overflowing with lava as its centerpiece!
I wonder where Dave will attempt to land? There are many different run-down sections of the city and upscale sections of the city to choose one. Let's label them with integers ranging from 1 to 13 for convenience sake.
[Sparrow's Fall, World of Eight Moons]
"I was on my way back from storing memories in a lake. So that depends. For me, a fairly normal thing. For others, who knows? As for your questions about magic, the power I use is generally drawn from the Bás-gréasáin. And the reason it's so precise is that it doesn't require a physical conductor; the problems with routing electricity are usually due to the fact that you have to make a material thing to transfer it.
How far has the technology level, especially of human alterations, progressed on your world? For example, is that thing in your arm the most sophisticated one of its type available?"
[Sparrow's Fall, World of Eight Moons]
Spec stares at the machinery wired into her arm and rotates the forearm that it is hooked into, scanning it visually for any signs of damage.
"Human alterations technology? Let's see here... We had innovations that would allow for people to pick an choose their offspring's physical attributes and other such things associated with DNA. We had cyborgs and robots since before I was born. We had some that could think on their own, but those robots belonged to the corporations exclusively and were restricted in what they could or could not do. We had neural implants too."
"The instrument in my arm is not a prototype. It's native to the corporations' elite and standard security forces, after all. It updates and repairs itself and me periodically. It's not shabby tech, but it's not that advanced either."
"Why did you choose to severely modify yourself using machinery?" :smallconfused:
Tentochitan? Nah, it's just hell.
Dave jumps off of the phoenix once it gets within 10 feet of a tall building and then leaps to go onto the tall building!
He doesn't really care where he is, as he's more concerned about LANDING.
[Hell - City of Demons]
Dave lands on the rooftop of a luxurious casino! There is a door leading downstairs up here! Dave could also probably climb down the side of the building if he wanted to do things the hard way!
The Phoenix takes off into the sky again and attempts to fly away, only to be shot down with a giant bone harpoon a few blocks away from the area where Dave jumped off of it!
[Sparrow's Fall, World of Eight Moons]
"You remember that crash I told you about? I lost an arm in it, and chose to have it replaced, rather than regrown. I liked the way it worked, so... I got the rest of my limbs, and quite a few other things, replaced. And it works quite well with my magic, too.
What choice would you make, in the same situation?"
Hell - City of Demons
Dave spares a look upwards to see if he can see the remains of Clarissa's sanctuary before walking through the door leading downstairs.
He figures he has nothing to fear here, after all it isn't like he hasn't seen horrific demons before.
[Sparrow's Fall, World of Eight Moons]
"If I had a choice between regrowing an arm or getting a prosthetic one, I'd have to go with regrowing the arm hands down, no pun intended. I couldn't imagine not feeling the rain, sun, warmth, or frost on my skin. I honestly don't think I could stand it. I'm a wimp like that, occasionally."
Spec definitely doesn't sound like a wimp at current. She's practically giddy!
She's also starting to want to run off and do things...like get a job...
"You have or had parents too, right? What were they like?"
Spec can't really remember her parents all too well. She had to focus on wording that question properly. She almost said "What was it like?" That would have been pitiful!
-------
[Hell - City of Demons]
Nope! The remains of Clarissa's Sanctuary aren't at all visible from Dave's current location.
There is a door at the bottom of the stairwell. It leads into the luxurious casino packed with rich demons on vacation! Upon entering it, he may discover that the air is jam-packed with cigar and cigarette smoke! Cough! Cough! The bright blinking lights and "fun" noises of slot machines are everywhere! Scantily-clad very human-looking servers walk around carrying platters of alcoholic beverages, complimentary, of course. The cacophony dies down as soon as Dave strolls into the room, however. It is peculiar. How could a hush fall over a crowd of demons on vacation?
Oh. Right. Dave's still alive, isn't he? That explains everything!
Hell - City of Demons
Dave doesn't seem too put off by it as he continues to walk through the room.
He seems to be...waving hello to some people?
Weird...you don't think...
DAVE THINKS HE'S FAMOUS.:smalleek:
Well, he has sent lots of evil guys down here...
[Sparrow's Fall, World of Eight Moons]
"I can still feel, though," Trium says, reaching out to stroke Spec's wrist-implant. "Do you mean you can't feel it when I do that?"
As for your question, yes, I did have parents. They were interesting - My mother was a nightmare-hunter, named Orakiil, and my father, Endreth, did research into those like me. Orakiil was very focused, though usually kind, except to enemies. But she died around a hundred years after I was born, so I didn't get to know her very well. Endreth tended to absentmindedness, but he was also very good, at what he did. He's one of the reasons I know so much about myself, actually."
[Hell - City of Demons]
That post made me laugh!
Dave might notice that the demons aren't exactly staring at him in the same way that one would stare at a glorified, pretentious star! They look more like starving people eyeing steak than anything else. It is a little worrying that they have the chutzpah to treat him this way in a public place, but nothing will come of this, I am sure.
Namely because, whether Dave knows it or not, he has been marked by Clarissa. He has recently come into physical contact with her. The scent she left on him is proof enough that he is not to be trifled with down here. Not by the demons, anyway.
[Sparrow's Fall, World of Eight Moons]
"I cannot feel it when you touch that machine, no."
Spec dryly states. She obviously is more interested in how Trium can feel with her mechanical parts than how she cannot.
"Your parents sound like they were great people."
Spec fidgets with her hands, unsure of how to continue.
"So..."
"How did I get here? I can't remember a single blasted thing about last night."
>.<
[Talnissa's]
The magazines pop up for easy removal once she empties them.
Talnissa smiles, and goes to put an arm around her.
"Not bad, love, at least for a wonky gun you're not familiar with..."
[Sparrow's Fall, World of Eight Moons]
"You got very drunk, and said you wanted to visit somewhere, so I teleported us here. After that, you broke a tree, which you got surprisingly upset about, and then, a little after that, we slept together."
[Talnissa's]
"Well, I shoot better than Uncle Rodney, at least. His friends always joked that when he was shooting the target was the safest thing in the room." Kara grins.
[Talnissa's]
Talnissa nods, smiling.
"Like I said, you weren't bad. And I'm sure you'll get better with more practice."
[Talnissa's]
"True, but I prefer this."
Kara reaches down to her belt, and from an extradimensional pocket produces one of these, which she extends and fires at the troll target!
As the electrical energy courses over it, she snaps the weapon closed.
"It stuns, and it's easier to find out why you had to defend yourself from a live person instead of a corpse..."
[Sparrow's Fall, World of Eight Moons]
"..."
Spec really doesn't know how to respond to that. The whole broken tree deal throws her off the trail of an acceptable or half-adequate answer entirely. Time to tactically cover up the foul stench of ineptitude/speechlessness with the deployment of a precision topic switch! 1...2...3...Initiate!
"Are you currently seeking gainful employment? I'm pretty sure that someone around here is in need of a dashing duo of master brawlers!"
Spec snaps her fingers in response to a great idea that totally could never go wrong that she envisioned in a matter of nanoseconds.
"Hey! We could run around dressed in the cutest spandex outfits with these broad, flowing, bright, beautiful, soft capes and be freelance heroes for hire!"
[Talnissa's]
"Hm... I'll have to see about getting one of those, to take apart, if nothing else... Though, admittedly, it's perhaps not the safest weapon for me, considering I'm made of metal."
[Sparrow's Fall, World of Eight Moons]
Trium's reaction to that is much the same as Spec's was a moment ago, but without the subject change.
"Wait, what? Not that it's a bad idea, necessarily, but... Sort of sudden, and unrelated, don't you think?"
