Darn you Fax, I vote for the death of the Spell Thief, Beguiler or Psychic Rogue in retaliation...

Hmmm. Core tieflings. This can't be good for PR "Look! YOU CAN BE A DEMON!! EVIL!" On the other hand: Bode-gasm!
I bet the Bard gets cut.
Curse you, gnome hater!
I'd say that the melee classes need to be given ToB-style upgrades (I don't have it, but from what I heard I approve) and casters need to lose some of their power.
As for the race... I'd say that the half-races need to go. Half-*insert here* should be a template.
So, um, who will do the frontline fighting then? But I agree that gnomes shouldn't exist.
And there's a thread for wishes.
I think they may get rid of Sorcerer.
And Gnomes SHOULD stay. Stupid freakin' HALFLINGS should get the boot. But it'll probably be Half-Orcs.
No humans =P
The gnomes they've given us for 3.x, I agree. Heck, if they're going to give gnomes a goddess, make them not care about nose size, and shoehorn them into a single role, they might as well toss them aside, since they've killed everything interesting about them.
Oh great frothing gods! Fourth edition. The day has come. REPENT!!!
...
Seriously, this fills me with an odd feeling deep in my gut. I'm going to continue playing 3.5 until I get obscenely rich somehow, or play my cards right... And I'll be able to complete my 3.X collection with relative ease, once prices drop... but now... I'm going to feel outdated. I suppose now I must feel how those that still play 2e and 1e do... How do you guys cope with it? Am I gonna start babbling about the 'good ol'days' like a war veteran? I'M BECOMING OLD!!
And what's going to happen to Oots? *froths*
I vote Paladins and Gnomes to be cut.
Paladins really do belong in a Splatbook. They are highly specialized.
Gnomes, because they do not serve a good role compared to the other races. Small and sneaky is halflings. Short and tough is dwarves. Short and tricksters can be either gnomes or halflings.
Mechanically, maybe. The class will still be called Fighter, probably, or get a new name entirely, since "Warblade" just doesn't sound like a core class.
I agree. Its a huge mess as-is, with Half-Celestial, Half-Dragon, and Half-Fiend as templates but Half-Elf, Half-Orc and Half-Ogre as races.
If they're really for streamlining the system, they should condense all if it into a single set of rules for making a half-race template from a base race.
Also noted in one of those webpages, spell recovery will get changed. No more 'I have to sleep to recover spells' after every couple encounters.
Here is what it says:
I bolded the parts I was commenting on.Quote:
And the mage and barbarian might get along a little better thanks to revamped spell recovery rules that won’t do away with the need to rest to replenish spells, but will give players more options to recover spells and in-game incentives to do something other than call nappy-time every two encounters.
Yeah, but if you read a bit further, you can see 'additional options' is what they're offering. i.e. other options than resting.
Seriously, what mage worth their salt isn't going to take an option to recover spells more often than once per day after a period of 8 hours of sleep?
Depends what mechanism they use. I suspect it's some sort of partial recovery mechanic. If it's recover all your Spells, then no need to rest ever, which may be the case, who knows? Point is, they're not saying.
Well, since regaining spells is one of the few existing reasons to rest, we may see adventuring parties running around 24 hours per day in 4ed.:smalltongue:
Yeah, I wouldn't be expecting complete recovery without rest, but being able to do SOMETHING in each encounter instead of having to rely on crossbows after 3 encounters would be step up.
Especially if they toned down the higher level spells. Making them more recoverable means they can tone down their power and keep everyone effective.
