I wonder what movie I would be. I don't really watch a lot of movies.
@Kev: That was my favorite comic! :smallfrown:

I'm far too ashamed of myself to post my first comic.

Re: ABR Discussion thread XXXV - Rise of the Pervsharks!
My first comics were lost in the great server fire of '06.

Re: ABR Discussion thread XXXV - Rise of the Pervsharks!
My first comic....Would be the ones for My Name is Q, which I remastered to be slightly less offensively terrible. Artwise, anyway. I was told the writing was really clever, which is why I continued to make comics.
My first for ABR...I think I deleted it. Pretty sure. I remember it, though. It was Q running over Randomizer with a motorcycle.
That, or Q "killing" Randomizer by pallette swapping his colour scheme. I forget which one I did first.

On another note, Happiness Incarnate? I think I have an idea for a character now!
I think I heard in Denmark its even later. Some time in February or something.

Re: ABR Discussion thread XXXV - Rise of the Pervsharks!
Rewatch all the Muppet movies before it comes out, then.
Except Muppets from Space. That one's alright, but not up to the Muppet standard.
-
Re: ABR Discussion thread XXXV - Rise of the Pervsharks!
Imageshack seems to have consumed my first comic. I'd reupload it but it's...probably for the best that it's gone.

Hi, Kippy!
So if I haven't watched them before... Then I watch them and rewatch them afterwards! Of Course!

Re: ABR Discussion thread XXXV - Rise of the Pervsharks!
Unfortunately I believe my first comic is still around, for those that look hard enough, at least. Let's hope that's no-one though.

Re: ABR Discussion thread XXXV - Rise of the Pervsharks!
sometimes I wonder how difficult it would be to draw up my comics from scratch in inkscape. I know I CAN draw stuff in inkscape just fine, but the time taken might not be worth the disparate quality.
I'll do my template work anyway, I think.

I don't think vector programs lend themselves to drawing from scratch. This may just be me being an experienced artist with the pencil but drawing a figure in free lines goes a lot faster for me than in vectors.

Re: ABR Discussion thread XXXV - Rise of the Pervsharks!
If I have an established template or art style I'm sticking to it's very easy, but if it's entirely from scratch without those templates, yeah takes ages. I recently had to draw a few different new creatures and it took me about an hour all-told to draw each one.
-
Re: ABR Discussion thread XXXV - Rise of the Pervsharks!
Oh, I've never had any issue actually drawing using inkscape. I've produced decent quality drawings tons - it's my preferred sketchbook at this point. The point I was making was that it'd just take longer than using templates. The top panel of the recent Miridia strip of mine was drawn without templates in a little under an hour and a half, for instance, but that's an example of me being mostly lazy. My various avatars have all been raw inkscape drawings, too.

What was the name of that coconut from the movie about the shipwrecked FedEx guy?

Wilson, I believe, presuming of course that you are referring to the Tom Hanks movie "Cast Away", though that was a volleyball.

I've lost my templates on several occasions so it often takes me several hours to draw a comic as I'm pretty much always creating new ones.
Hence lack of activity. I rarely have that kind of time

I keep having ideas for art upgrades (well, actually it's the same idea over and over) but it would require an overhaul of all my current templates for very little benefit. And I need to redo my template for skimmer - found out that her lower half is essentially impossible to manipulate.
Buuuut i don't have that kind of time anymore - between work, school, homework, sleep...
... I need to request to have fewer hours at work >.>

Re: ABR Discussion thread XXXV - Rise of the Pervsharks!
My solution there is usually to update templates as they enter necessity, like revising a character design when I need it for a new page.
Speaking of, I've got four different pieces of coursework this coming month and am likely to be rather pre-occupied.
Keveak, should I do the docking comic or do you want to? (Of course other volunteers are appreciated)

The one i have in mind would be near impossible to do at a staggered rate like that in inkscape without ruining the look of the templates. So i scrapped it.

I have nothing against doing it at all.
I would have to know what the UNA captain's reaction to a natural 20 and a 4 on Bluff within the same minute, though. ^_^'
On the topic of templates, I used to go by Lying's method and occasionally make larger changes that salvaged a few older bits that were stretched and resized.
What was your idea, HT?

Re: ABR Discussion thread XXXV - Rise of the Pervsharks!
*looks at bad net connection*
I should make a comic.
*looks at Miridia*
I have no idea what happens to the worm when the shot is fired.
*looks at ABRC*
Could either make an assumption on Q's response, potentially tick him off and move into something epic... or wait on him.
*looks at FP*
Skimmer DEFINITELY said he was making the next one.
...
*does nothing*
-
Re: ABR Discussion thread XXXV - Rise of the Pervsharks!
Solution: Make whatever comic you want irrespective of the potential (and especially unknown) wants of others.
If you cannot include all, exclude all.

Not a very good philosophy for life. But i get your point.
*goes to potentially do the ABRC one. Either that or realize he really SHOULD do his homework*

It's more a political philosophy than anything else, across a large enough span of individuals, each with their own personalities, ideas, goals, and such, it is logistically inefficient, if not impossible, to incorporate all of them into an entity of significantly smaller population.
In a social situation I'll agree it's best to try to avoid stepping on toes, but fortunately ABR has never had too much of a problem with voluntary retcon :smalltongue:

You can assume Q's response, though I will make a comic eventually. I've been really preoccupied with matters concerning the success of my future, but I'm finding some time and I'll make one. Still, Q's pretty easy to write for I would think. And I'll do whyatever you want. All ABRC comics are canon and will be supported. That is my philosophy.
AND I've been brainstorming that ABR fancomic I'll be making ("Dark Times Become Us", though more and more that title seems stupid and doesn't make sense with the story). It's gonna be awesome. Everything seems to be working out, and if my artist bails on me I've figured out that I could actually provide my own handrawn efforts if it comes down to it.
