Megiddo will volunteer for the first watch, Tell for the second.
Grigor, human cleric
"Haha, this is quite all right Cade, I will take the third watch. I have never been an early bird but that way at least I will be already awake comes dawn."
Moathouse: Planting 12, Early Morning
All three watches pass without significant incident.
(( Now, we were talking about going to the small altar in the labyrinth (the purple area on the map here), right? ))
Yes. Minimum character limit.

(( Previous description of area ))
The chamber remains much how it was when it was left. The altar and ritual implements are undisturbed, as is the rubble from the wrecked statue.
Examine the altar and such.

"Let's see if we have anything here. Maybe a switch or...." Cade mumbles as he examines the altar.

While he is unable to identify its source, the strange black and purple stone that make up the walls of the chamber does not seem to be natural.
As Cade examines the altar, his hand brushes against it. Seeming to react to this, the color stone begins to fade. It slowly turns from black to a transluscent purple color. After a few seconds, it seems less like the color is just fading, but that all the black pigment is retreating into the center of the altar, where it forms an amorphous blob.
Does the amorphous blob seem to be doing anything?
Tell will pick up a loose stone or stick or something and toss it at the blob.
Moonshadow examines the blob, holding himself ready for any adverse reaction.

wow, i've been rolling like crap all day.
Moathouse: Planting 12, Early Morning
The blob is simply chunk of color inside the stone, like a concentrated mineral impurity. Indeed, once the color finishes collecting in the center it ceases moving and appears to be nothing more than a mundane variance in the altar’s substance.
"Well there's one way of finding out what that thing is. Everyone get clear. I'm gonna shoot it," Cade backs up as far as he can and still get a clear shot at the ball before nocking an arrow and waiting for the others to get clear.
Moonshadow back up to take cover behind some rubble.
Grigor, human cleric
"Shoot it? With an arrow? Heh, I gotta see that..." declares the bearded cleric with a grin and decides to watch.
Moathouse: Planting 12, Early Morning
The amethyst substance around the blob proves to be quite solid, as the arrow bounces off with an arrow-hitting-stone click.
Grigor, human cleric
Grigor chuckles as the arrow bounces off harmlessly, just as expected.
"Heh, I believe this is more of an arcane problem. Megiddo? Any ideas about this? "
Maybe a spell will tell me more then.
Spoilercast detect magic on the area
Is this still there?
Quote:
A careful examination of the statue reveals four small compartments, one just to the side of each figure. The black side contains a small, black pearl that radiates a moderate evocation aura when subjected to Megiddo’s magic detection. The green side has a small, black drum. The red side has a set of silver chimes. The indigo side has a small brazier with three cones of incense.
(( Tell destroyed the statue. No one mentioned what they did with the items found inside it, though, so I assumed they were left behind at the altar. ))
Moathouse: Planting 12, Early Morning
As Megiddo discovered before, the altar radiates strong necromancy and conjuration auras.
From the magic here, I would guess that this is used for summoning some sort of spirit, or other undead beings, though I don't know how it functions. These chimes are rather pretty though....
Moonshadow picks up the chimes and lets them ring softly in his hands.
Moathouse: Planting 12, Early Morning
Clearly, the chimes don't do anything by themselves, as nothing at all happens when Moonshadow lets them ring. It's likely that they are used with the other items. That is if anything is supposed to happen at all.
"I would rather not summon something evil," Cade mumbled as he observed the altar.
(( Got anything else you guys wanna do? ))
I think I've seen enough here. Maybe I can track down whoever used this thing though.

Grigor, human cleric
"Well, if we summon something evil we just have to unsummon it again, eh?" the human says with a smirk, patting the handle of his bastard sword slung over his back.
"But seriously, I don't think we can do much with this stuff because we have no clue how this is, or maybe was supposed to work."
Moathouse: Planting 12, Early Morning
The freshest looking trail Moonshadow can find looks like it may have been left by Grigor, Megiddo, and Tell the last time they were here.
Grigor, human cleric
"So the maze is a bust, eh? Well, we can still show them that cave with the purple pillar." suggests Grigor.
Moathouse: Planting 12, Early Morning
The unearthly chill of the obelisk chamber has begun to emanate into the well room. As the elevator is lowered into the chamber, the cold takes on a presence like a creature hungry and ready to devour every last bit of warmth from anything that should stray within its grasp.
Of course, the cold is not the only hungry beast in the cavern. Grigor recalls that there is something within the obelisk as well. Fortunately, whatever it is can be avoided by crossing to the second elevator quickly enough.
On the bottom of the chamber, there are still the obsidian carvings of the sun and obex, the cool pool, and the remains of the gate carved in the east wall.
(( Last Obelisk Chamber map ))
Moonshadow looks around, trying to understand what the room would be used for. He also lets Silence fly around to get a better view.

While examining the sun on the floor, Moonshadow begins to feel agitated and rather fuzzy-headed, as if every part of his brain was trying to think about everything all at once. The feeling quickly passes when he looks away from it.
Beyond that, there is not much indication of what the room is for. It is likely they are involved in some insane religious ritual.
Snow doesn’t find much that isn’t easily found while on the floor. The walls are rough, with a number of nooks and crannies, but that is about it. In any case, the upper reaches of the chamber are tall enough that even owl-vision begins to fail and lose things in the darkness.
