Re: Grrl Power V: Probably Not an Octopus
Anyone else finds sidney weird looking in her disguise? I usually don't like the faces is the comic all that much but usually sidney is one of the better ones when not disguised.

Now that would be an interesting character. Similar to Torment's Fall-from-Grace, but necessarily quite different in how she copes. I'd very much like to see that explored.

Re: Grrl Power V: Probably Not an Octopus
Too bad nobody but Sydney gets the chance for character development. Also, given the pace of the comic we'd have to wait until 213X to see a more adult Tamatha.

Re: Grrl Power V: Probably Not an Octopus
That and she is a patreon guest star not a permanent addition. So we likely arent going to get to see her grow up .

A shame. I find her more interesting than at least 75% of the cast.

Probably because you havent spent the last 8 years reading about her. :p Mysterious and new personalities are often more interesting than established characters as you want to know more about them and to find out the answer to whatever questions their existence creates.

Re: Grrl Power V: Probably Not an Octopus
We still want to know more about them and to find out the answer to whatever questions their existence creates for the bulk of the cast. This strip really needs to stick Sydney in background status for several months.

Sydney is fine. We need to actually stick with a group for longer than a single arc. We've gone from Heroes to Myths to Space Aliens, without really spending time with any particular group longer than, well, a single arc.

Re: Grrl Power V: Probably Not an Octopus
Which would be a decent argument, if most of us weren't complaining about the non-development of Archon's personnel, who have been in every arc.

As far as I can tell, we're complaining about Dabbler. Everyone else from Archon is mostly fine, though they could use some more attention.

Except -we- are not complaining about Dabbler. Some are complaining about Dabbler.
But yes the entire team could use some more attention, instead of constantly throwing up new characters.

I could even live with new characters if we could just focus on one setting! Superpowers, supernatural, aliens! PICK ONE FOR AWHILE! The questions just keep piling up in daves effort to introduce everything in this decade long flashback. All we get is a brief overview, like cora and her chart on how space travel tech and alien contact generally works where we learn about nth level tech. The council arc was a great synopsis on the supernatural, how it stays hidden, and that it has many factions. And of course the earliest part talking about heroes, the mystery behind how it happens and some of the knock on effects it has on society.

Re: Grrl Power V: Probably Not an Octopus
Todays comic. Meh, im not bothered by this. It was a simple "go away and dont bother us" enforced by magic rather than cleavage. Yes it has the potential for abuse but then, so does every skill the heroes have.

And if you think about it, it was the right course of action too. Simply telling them to "go away" wouldn't have worked because there's the existing passive magical effect drawing them in - an active nudge was the only way to overcome the innate pull of the hyphocleavage.

Essentially the trick did not even require magic, since the cleavage would be more then enough to send at the men out in search of drinks and a cozy place.
As for the reaction of the young succubus, it kind of reminds me of Larisa from Sandra and Woo.

Thats also a very fair point.

Well, looks like we have the way this guest character leaves showing up. She should have been wearing a red shirt.

Re: Grrl Power V: Probably Not an Octopus
She's a Patreon cameo. Nothing is happening to her, good or bad.

That pretty much leaves only one option.

Re: Grrl Power V: Probably Not an Octopus
What is the POINT of this? We've spent such a long time on such a non-conversation. Also what exactly is the thought process behind repeatedly making jokes about men drooling over sexy underdressed women...in a comic that exists exclusively as an excuse to draw sexy underdressed women? It has this aftertaste of trying to be woke while not addressing the meta-issue of the platform.
-
Re: Grrl Power V: Probably Not an Octopus
How long have you been reading this? Because that's been the vibe pretty much from the get go.

Its a little more background info on a part of the comic? I mean, at least he is fleshing out his characters and world a bit.

Re: Grrl Power V: Probably Not an Octopus
I found they were some of the better pages (at least prior to mentor succubus), some lore is nice sometimes and it is not like grrlpower has much of a main plot that is delayed.

The point of this is that I paid $300 over a period of six months and he feels obligated to give my cameo a lot of time on screen as a result, pretty much.
Being able to give some loredump on demons is a bonus, of course.

Re: Grrl Power V: Probably Not an Octopus
In that case thank you for the contribution towards founding the comic :P

Re: Grrl Power V: Probably Not an Octopus
I get sydney here so much. Yes in the abstract the idea of sitting down with attractive people of the opposite gender and maybe making a fun time connection is a nice one, but the reality is a lot more nerve wracking. Its the kind of thing you have to work yourself up to and be ready to try before you go out, not have dropped on you from a vast height.

Add in the fact that she currently tries to sort out a rather delicate relaionship, so flirting and/or making out with some random people is most likely the last thing she would want right now.
