Re: Tales of Revelia: JRPG-styled Fantasy Webcomic
AP Summer homework strikes another victim! Looks like you came out victorious here.
One typo is in the first panel where King Ballandy says "Now to more importanat matters..."
Anyways, I like how the comic always seems to have some slight variation in the panels even when it's just dialogue. Here's hoping for some increased action and more character development/interaction in the next upcoming comics!
BTW: Thanks for the banner! Looks great!

Thanks, will fix that. I already caught a typo where taking was talking, but it seem that I had missed another.
And I think I've said this before, but I take pride in the the quality of of these comics. OotS is the inspiration of all of us on this forum, so if were going to pay homage in comic form, might as well do a good job of it.

Re: Tales of Revelia: JRPG-styled Fantasy Webcomic
No next comic's not out yet, but does anyone have suggestions for monsters? A world map must be populated, and I would like some fresh new monsters to think about besides the traditional Tales stuff, which is actually not so traditional.

Re: Tales of Revelia: JRPG-styled Fantasy Webcomic
DnD inspired: The tent[nocensor] monster! A mimic that conceals in the shape of a tent to lure adventurers to get inside to rest. When they get sleepy, the tent monster produces acids that digest the unwary traveler.
Saria forest... I would say some gnome inspired sort of creature. Some danger spoken about in the village but that nobody really believes. It happens they're not big and tend to hide when humans get close, unless they believe that they may overcome the victim somehow. Since this is the start, I would think she's low level, so that would work in the way of lone human not powerful looking and with their numbers the creatures think it's a suitable target. Or something like that.

Re: Tales of Revelia: JRPG-styled Fantasy Webcomic
May I recommend Lost Cannibalistic Elves, or Pan Pipes playing wingless pixies.
Kids with Skull masks, seed shooting plants and Green Tunic-ed Socipathic mute elves are also suggested.

Re: Tales of Revelia: JRPG-styled Fantasy Webcomic
-'Bunnyvines' (or an alternate nmae with a punn between bunnies and beans)
Mobile carnivorous plants who move ont their stalk. Their name (wich is actualy just a commonly used nickname) commes from the fact they can coil their moving appendage like a spring to leap when they have a prey near and they also have two leaves wich sticks on the top. They emit a treacherously very pleasing scent and approaching preys by ground vibrations.
Despite the cutsey names an slightly goofy apparence, they are actualy real annoying pests who can bite pretty hard.
-Spore ballons. As the name say they're just small organic bubbles that float around contaning somme pollen like substance wich is slightly alergen. They actually look very pretty in an iridescent kind of way.
They're not enemies per se but if you run into them they have an annoying tendency to blow in your face (you know, they are that kind enemies you meet in somme RPG the ones with annoying self destruct attack.). They do barely any real damage but they give an annoying "sneezing" status effect (the character just stops abruptely as long as it last. In battle there's a slight chance eshe might loose concentration everytime she tries to use an ability, thus loosing one turn). the affect carries for a few minutes unless cured.
(alternate version, they're full of midly mind altering fermented vapors that cause a drunk status effect."
There might exists somme pallete swaps other species that may be encounteres in other region in the game that cause somme more serioue status effects (like poison or stuff like that I guess ?)
-Psyrrels:
Naturally psychic grey squirrels who use telekinesis to throw small object at you with great velocity. They look pretty much like ordinary forest rodents except they have something slightly eerie about them. (Oh and they levitate.) they can also steal stuff from you.
They aren't very agressive, just terribly territorial so you can just escape the fight. Wich is good because they are also surprisingly strong for starting monsters. (They have crap Hp and no stength but they have very powerfull shield like abilities and high evade)
(I don't play JRPG very often, so sorry if this has already be done to death.)

Pan Pipes playing wingless pixies.
(aren't the wings kind of what defines a pixie int he first place ?)

Darn, you beat me to it. :smallannoyed: :smalltongue:
How about shape-shifting wolves with small black children riding them and chickens that you can grab to cross wide cliffs?

Re: Tales of Revelia: JRPG-styled Fantasy Webcomic
The WennBar. Aria has read the Deltora books and steers well clear of it, never learning (though the readers do) that the Revelian Wenn have no leader and the WennBar is merely a place for them to hang out and buy alcoholic drinks.

Re: Tales of Revelia: JRPG-styled Fantasy Webcomic
Don't want to scare anyone, so I thought I'd mention that the comic is still coming. I got most of my AP stuff done, but now I'm on vacation and I'm not used to drawing on a labtop as opposed to my desktop setup at home. Plus, school's starting up again soon.
To make it up, I'll try to get at least the next three comics out as quick as possible. Which should be by next week. Turns out monsters are hard to draw. Well, that's what I get for trying to create and draw an entire JRPG video game world. :smalltongue:

Re: Tales of Revelia: JRPG-styled Fantasy Webcomic
I thought you died. :smallfrown:
Why don't you just ditch school and become a mangaka? :smalltongue:

Re: Tales of Revelia: JRPG-styled Fantasy Webcomic
Strange, I had almost decided to post a question about your whereabouts when I got a phone-call. When I come back you already posted the answer. ^^

Re: Tales of Revelia: JRPG-styled Fantasy Webcomic
I return! With new comic!
This is how the world map should look, for the most part. The mini-maps show their progression, and while you can't see it in these because the travel distance is short, the panels can or will have different backgrounds to indicate travel over larger distances. Just watch the mini-map to get an idea of where they are.
Try to promise, just have Calculus and a Biology video left, another comic by this weekend. Maybe. And I get my class schedule today, so I'll find out if all my effort has been worth it.

Re: Tales of Revelia: JRPG-styled Fantasy Webcomic
Haha, it looks like Aria encountered the Tales-equivalent of Migar Zolom.

Re: Tales of Revelia: JRPG-styled Fantasy Webcomic
Just found this comic from the GtKaP, and read through the entire archives. (yeah, not much of a feat when there are only 16, but I've always wanted to say it) This is awesome, and the way you make fun of tutorials/ DO a tutorial is awesome. I hope you can keep going, because your off to an awesome start.
Is there a guy named Yuri Lowel? I wanna see Yuri Lowel as a ootstickey!

Re: Tales of Revelia: JRPG-styled Fantasy Webcomic
Exactly why I wonder if why TK is not more popular than he is right now.
Like these guys on youtube. (Video on cow-tipping)

Re: Tales of Revelia: JRPG-styled Fantasy Webcomic
Good to know people like lampshading. To me, that's all it is. I make references to, or pokes at JRPG things, while the characters keep a straight face. Oots does it, they even have the image spot on the TVtropes page for Lampshading. I remember back when I was thinking about doing this comic I asked about humor in fan comics because I had planned a completely serious, video game plotline comic. Then after a year of inaction, that idea became this, a parody of the Tales series that is at the same time a working story without too many references and 4th wall breaking to irrelevant stuff.
You guys can come up with a reason why I'm not more popular. A lot of people have viewed this thread, but the people who post are usually the same people.

Re: Tales of Revelia: JRPG-styled Fantasy Webcomic
I'd say that there might be quite a few are lurkers, like me. We don't have that much to say but enjoy the ride.
We're also known as parasites since we don't contribute. :smalltongue:
And I believe that the main people who visit the fan-comic section are the people who are posting in A&C, request thread not included. I suppose I can start showing of your banner to grab some attention, I've promoted the Were-wolf games for quite some time now.
Edit: Ah yes, and I'd like if you put a link to the new page when you post about the update. I know it is just a click away to go to page one, but I'm darn lazy so so are others. :smallcool:

You have, just scroll up a bit.
@Tsofu: kkk, because that's what I usually do, just click "Last post". It will also identify posts to people at a glance. No link? He's just wants to talk. Link? He uploaded something SWARM!.

If you already do so by all means continue doing it. I'll just have to look harder next time. :smalltongue:

Hmm, let me be a little more clear with my signature. It's for a good cause.

Re: Tales of Revelia: JRPG-styled Fantasy Webcomic
I believe this is the mandatory run away encounter most JRPGs had, or the losing is the only option one also from JRPGs.

The latter doesn't happen on random encounters.
