There's a funny story about that...
So there I was, sitting on the couch, while my wife was working on her laptop next to me. I am looking through the current posts, and she glances over just as the picture of Amber pops up. She goes "Hey she's cute, who's that?" So I explain the whole "Harley's Angels" thing, and she says "Thats awesome, your guy should get with her, especially if she's a redhead" (my wife has long gorgeous hair) I explain that he's a monk etc etc, an she turns to me and goes, (preface, I've been talking about Marros for awhile now, she thinks he's a badass)
"Marros may be a monk, but he's not a priest! He's a widely traveled, happy-go-lucky, wisely realistic Kung-fu master! He would
definitely go after her."
So there ya go, my wife decided Marros should be pursuing Amber. (in his charming way of course) Who am I to argue?:smallbiggrin::smallbiggrin:

Re: Fortuitous Findings in Foraging: A Study, Part II
Therandil nods his thanks to Reg, and chuckles a little as Marros pulls an accidental third-person on Amber.
"I'll bite," he says in response to her jibe. "Sounds like we've got a bit of a walk in front of us, so why not tell us about 'this' Amber as we go?"
Therandil fixes up a few tears in his clothing with a quick Prestidigation as they set out.

Looking back and forth at Therandil and Marros, Amber flashes the sorcerer a heated smile, but flutters dark eyelashes at Marros.
Pushing strands of fiery red hair from her face, Amber grins at Holly, who smiles back.

You know what, nah, I think I'm done here.
From the Border Ethereal, the Ghost Lord watches them go.
Glaring down at them, a jolt of negative energy runs through his body.
A burning halo of black flames ignite above his head, and the Ghost Lord looks up.
He spares a cursory look for the remains of his fellow druid, his brother.
The two of them had been separated, and he'd been captured by Kurjan unbeknownst to his wolf-favoring brother, who in the time since their separation had become undead.
But he feels no remorse.
Only a call.
North-west...
...to the Tomb of Horrors.
A rippling cry is echoed across the Ethereal as the Ghost Lord departs, repeated over and over by the spiraling clouds of ghosts that create an undead sky in the open air of the Plane Unseen.

Amber runs her hands through her hair again, "I used to be a common thief-well, not so common. I set myself up as a clerk for merchants, and would steal as much coin as I could without using magic."
She smiles.
"The merchants know the usual lunkhead will think that he can use a fool's gold spell or a wall of iron spell to fool them, and have preparations, but they often forget that a shipment of barrels of wine can be diverted elsewhere, while the 'real' shipment is just water."

"You really are the brains, aren't you?" Alex comments rather cheerfully considering what they had been through that morning.
"I was never much of a planner, but I did figure out the patrols, traps and other defences before having a go at it. It's might not be as fun as it would be going in blind, but just studying your target without being detected is fun enough. And then there's sneaking past the guards, picking the lock to the Dutchess' room, getting some cookies from the kitchen, you know, the usual."

"What happened? Harley found me. I was trying to steal a fleet, and things got out of hand..."
She shrugs.
Harley shakes his head, muttering.
Amber scowls, "With four more hours, I totally could have pulled it off."
Holly gives Alex a serious look, shaking her head.
Amber snaps her fingers, "You're a thi-reprovisioner to, Alex, right? HAve you ever noticed how depraved the fabulously wealthy can be?"
There are grumbles of assent.
Lakkam tells them they're moving too far off course, and adjusts to find the entrance to the prison.
-
Re: Fortuitous Findings in Foraging: A Study, Part II
At Amber's comment on the wealthy's depravity, Marros let's out a deep laugh. It is a funny thing isn't it? The more they get the more they seem to want, and the less satisfied they seem to be. It almost seems more trouble than it's worth in the end.
then Marros looks Amber up and down. A fleet huh? That sounds like a fine trick, although I'm glad Harley found you.

"I prefer the term 'security expert', actually," he says casually, "and yes, I did notice. Those tend to be my favourites, truth be told. Nothing like cheking the security on the vault of the baron who's been raising taxes to add a new wing to his castle. I help myself to my usual usual payment, pack a few bags of gold and suddenly farmers start finding coins while working the land. The gods truly work in mysterious ways."

Re: Fortuitous Findings in Foraging: A Study, Part II
"The gods truly work in mysterious ways. Right 700?"
The man who would one day be known as Harley glares up at his 'Controller', pushing back the gold plated needles.
"What do you want now? I just finished a jo-"
"Don't forget 700. You're property of the Guild, you belong us. You belong to Vecna."
The Controller gestures to the gyrating bodies in the dimly lit room, "All of this is to keep you somewhat entertained between kills-and what we give we can take away, just like your miserable life. Haul out, you're going to the Savage Coast."
Pulling himself to his feet, 700 pushes a still form aside, "I'm done with batch anyways."
"You can't keep poisoning them as soon as you're done with them! They're killed proper-"
700 waves his hand dismissively as bodies begin to drop to the floor, perfectly manicured hands around goblets of spilt wine, and fine tresses of hair intertwined with gold chain across fair, bronzed skin.
"I've got to stay in practice, right? As Guild property, I have to remain efficient?"
A trembling, shaking hand, covered in rings and rubies, claws at 700s foot, but he kicks it away, smiling at the nod on his Controller's face.
"Right you are 700, right you are."
Harley nods dumbly, "Right you are Alex, right you are."
Amber rubs her wrists, showing Marros three harsh lines, "They'd finally figured out I was just regenerating my hand every time they cut it off, so they were going to put me down for good, but he got me out, and I've learned everything I know from him."
-
Re: Fortuitous Findings in Foraging: A Study, Part II

Acererak. Does. Not. Care.
If it increases HPs, by even one, its reduced.
And it doesn't have to be Positive Energy either.
