Re: Nexus OoC 1: The Shape of Things to Come
Yeeeeeaaaaah...Space Marines would kill most everything that isn't god-level around here...and in addition to what Wolf said, they're not exactly known for being reasonable. >.>
Let's not forget that most everyone around is either a xeno, xeno-friendly-type, or a heretic, and thus not worth talking to. <.<
So...yeah, I really can't see this ending in any way that isn't GODLY POWER KILLS YOU.
Personal request if you do end up going through with it: Send it into the Town thread rather than Inside.

I was kinda hoping to drop them in Outside, and have them encounter some NPC people, and then either have some people who have weapons capable of harming the marines, or just people who are powerful enough to kill them handle them if no one wants to convince them to chill. My character will be able to be reasoned with by anyone who is human. I wont say for anyone else.

..I'm going to deadtime for a few minute to let my computer cool down a bit...kurama, It would be nice if you could post in the musical

Re: Nexus OoC 1: The Shape of Things to Come
Does 'human' include 'somebody who is probably human but might not be but is massively cybernetically enhanced to the point where they don't bioscan as human'?
...having a seperate thread for the What-If: Space Marines Invaded Town? might work. Working them into the Nexus itself...probably not quite so much...
-
Re: Nexus OoC 1: The Shape of Things to Come
A handful of Space Marines like the ones suggested wouldn't be worth a new thread for it, and I kind of doubt anyone wants to run an army of them.
As for the reading as human thing, as long as it read as partly human if the cybernetics were obvious, I don't think there'd be a problem. A lot of people in the Imperium have cybernetic limbs or organs and the Techpriests of Mars are always tinkering with more.
If they weren't obvious in any way however, there'd be no real way to know and it'd probably be bad...

As for the second part, Wolfbane is right. Any human who is cybernetically enhanced would be viewed as normal. Heck, some of the Marines probably would have augments.
would it be better if just a single marine, say a member of the Deathwatch were to show up? Are there any members of the Inquisition itP?

Re: Nexus OoC 1: The Shape of Things to Come
Hey hey hey... is everyone forgetting something?
This is FREEFORM! The Space Marines can be as tolerant or intolerant as their player wants them to be. They don't have to be canon.
-
Re: Nexus OoC 1: The Shape of Things to Come
True...
I was specifically thinking of Shawna. Who normally appears perfectly human (except for the multicolored hair) unless you look really close at her eyes. But is cybernetically modified enough that on most scanners she shows as an mechanoid.*
* - At least, I think so. She still hasn't told me exactly what she is. I think I've ruled out Human Form Replicator though.

Especially if they work for a really crazy Inquisitor, who accidentally fires off their drop pod while in the warp.

Re: Nexus OoC 1: The Shape of Things to Come
Heh, depending on which ones they are, they may meet with Jericus. He's a psyker/Adept I have who also works for the Inquisition. Of course, he's purple(dyed skin), has a blue electoo on half his body, wings(mutation), and is a thrice bound half daemon of Slaanesh. <.<
Of course, that last part is hidden very very well and he's in complete control over all his daemony processes. >.>

I think that...that...well...I don't know...I was going to try to stay away from warp stuff, except for fighting it...but there are just so many RP possibilities there.
-
Re: Nexus OoC 1: The Shape of Things to Come
Warp stuff can be...confusing, when it interacts with other things, to say the least. <.<

Just a yes a bit. And only yes of the time. Of course the Warp is only confusing yes of the time as well. But...well it is the Warp after all.

Don't worry, he's a rather nice person, and I'm trying not to do too much Warpish stuff now, so that'd be toned down. If it comes to a fight, he'd just use a few standard powers(lightning and the like) and his Singing Spear (Lenore).

I am too slow to say that first it seems.
Anyways. We'll just have to see what happens. my main concern right now is if someone would be willing to have their character be the one to clue in my SM that conquering Nexus for the glory of mankind and for the Emperor is a bad idea.

I believe that comes from being a BR character rather than a law officer. :smalltongue:

I'll be away for a bit today, ugh.

Re: Nexus OoC 1: The Shape of Things to Come
As a rule of thumb, introducing characters whose only purpose is to go "raaagh kill kill kill" is a bad idea, especially so soon after joining. My personal opinion is also that introducing characters from some estabilished canon isn't a good idea either, unless you're willing to make liberties, accept that other characters won't know a thing about said canon and, most importantly accept that other characters won't work as your character's canon would have them work.
-
Re: Nexus OoC 1: The Shape of Things to Come
If I were, for example, to introduce a character from the Galactic Empire, their first reaction wouldn't be HALT SURRENDER I CAN'T ACTUALLY SHOOT THAT WELL. It'd be more like "Um... where am I?" and an eventual adaptation to the Nexus and life within it.
-
Re: Nexus OoC 1: The Shape of Things to Come
Ben: "Only Stormtroopers can shoot this precisely."
Luke: "I think you mean frequently!"

New character. Will be back here, though not quite as often as I used to be. Not likely back on for a few days, though, we'll see. Tell me what you think, or something.

Re: Nexus OoC 1: The Shape of Things to Come
Is the big sword meant to tie with any deity in particular, or is it just a big sword? It's the only one not ringing any bells for me, though perhaps my own knowledge of Greek myth is not what it should be.

Hephaestus may have forged it.

Hades gets left out of everything, it seems. Poor guy.

He wasn't traditionally included in the Pantheon, unfortunately enough. But he's included in the various cast of characters who'll shortly appear and be associated with El. What, you thought I couldn't make up a complex background and mythos that I couldn't endlessly exploit, like alternate-reality duplicates accessed by genetic triggers, or metahuman programming?! BAH!
