I myself am afraid of the dark, but only in collaboration with silence. I hate the lack of SOMETHING making noise. Makes everything feel dead.

Re: Cynical Avocado's Absolutely Admirable Accumulation of Random Bantering #165
I used to be afraid of being alone at night outside. Of course, that might have been because the street lights on our street stopped partway through. They just never put them in. So a portion of our street was realllly dark at night. Cue my 8 or 9 year old self hating walking home at night since I always had to walk alone in the dark.
Eventually I gave up on being afraid of the dark.

I agree here. When it's dark, and everything is silent, all the dark thoughts swirling around inside my head come to the surface and torment me. :smalleek:

Why is there ALWAYS a rush after I go to dinner? Do you all crawl out of hiding after I'm gone? :smallfrown:

I think it's just unortunate coincidence, the killer of all types of enjoyment.

I have no idea why this is. I don't like it either. We'll need to move RB's hour of activity to a more suitable time. How do we do that?

So it's not a conspiracy to avoid me? I need reassurance.

Post more?

We duck tape people to their chairs and force them to post in RB.
Moon: I have experienced about the same. I thought it was a conspiracy to avoid me. Seems more plausible.

Don't worry MoonCat, there is no secret conspiracy.

Only quacks use duck tape. :smalltongue:
That's a good idea though. What hour should we aim for? I say 2pm, my time.

Ya... Using a lot of it can lead to a very large bill.
Anything works.

Re: Cynical Avocado's Absolutely Admirable Accumulation of Random Bantering #165
Being afraid of the dark is nothing to be ashamed of. It's a primal fear.
And I scare myself. I won't be scared, but then I'll start asking myself, "What if...?" And then I'm terrified.

The solution to all fears is to fear neither death or pain. Of course, the paradox in this is that to trigger the ability to overcome fear, one must first accomplish that which you seek to trigger. It's like trying to pull the trigger on a gun by firing the bullet. Have fun. :smalltongue:

Yeah, I don't think I could convince myself that. :smalltongue: I suppose I could try.

I definitely agree, but not really because it makes everything feel dead, more like my brain freaks out and starts imagining scary noises.

You just have to face the fear head on.
Once, I spent two sleepless nights convinced that there was a demon perched outside my window, looking in on me with a pair of eyes of astonishing luminosity. Every night it would scratch repeatedly at the window, attempting to induce me to invite it in, no doubt. However, I would simply lay there, bathed in cold sweat, paralyzed with terror, silently willing the sun to hasten its arrival.
Then one night, I decided I could stand it no longer. I went to the window, looked outside, and almost had a heart attack when I saw that there actually WAS something out there. However, after the initial shock, I realized it was... an adorable baby pussycat.
You'll have to find your own moral.

When I'm wandering around at midnight getting a snack I keep imagining that guy on the plane in that Twilight Zone episode/Beetlejuice staring at me from a window. :smalleek:
Also, *cute kitten*

So the moral is that if you face your fears, you will find them to be true? :smallconfused::smalltongue:

I don't know about harmless... Kitties can be evil.
I'm not much for checkers, but philosophy I can get behind. Can I join?

This is something I utterly love. When it's all dark and silent, I've got nothing but my own thoughts, and what I think up is a lot more interesting than this world.
Also, because I take in a lot more information of my surroundings than the average person, I easilly suffer from information overload, especially when it's noisy and a lot of movement, so silence and darkness (and often the well-deserved loneliness as well) gives me a chance to rest my mind.
ION:
Went to Gröna Lund (the fair in our capital) today. It was fun. Rode a lot of rollercoasters, because I love rollercoasters. Yay. :3
IOON:
I'm tired, in case you couldn't tell. Need to go to bed soon...

Re: Cynical Avocado's Absolutely Admirable Accumulation of Random Bantering #165
I was looking at CafePress, and noticed that if you create an online store, you can sell your own books on there. A lightbulb quickly went off in my head, and I quickly decided I'm going to write out a book to sell on there

I'm the exact oppisite. I do my best thinking while stuff is playing. It feeds my creative juices.
Sounds like you had a lot o fun today Teddy! Have a good night!
I wish I could go on roller coasters, but even merry go rounds make me nearly vomit.

Discuss philosophy and art, play checkers, and whatever else anyone wants to do as long as it is thematically appropriate. :smalltongue:
As for meeting, the issue of geography makes it all but impossible to meet in person without turning the club into a convention, so... Somewhere on the Internet? I'm open to suggestions. Also: club needs a name.
