Maybe they sleep, or they protect something or follow orders that doesn't allow to investigate strange sounds or smells. Probably they believe us making camp and wait, so if we want to attack them now should be the right time.

Crane opens the door to reaveal a chamber beyond and a number of goblinoids.
The chamber consists of two parts, the work room and the cellblock. The cellblock to the west features three large cells. The work room holds an iron maiden, two tables covered with implements of torture, a fire pit with several
iron rods, a rack, and a cage.
The hobgoblin carries a set of three keys on a thick iron ring.

One of the goblins rushes at Crane, but is unable to pass Crane's defences. Three of the goblins wielding crossbows scurry around, two of them disappearing from sight, one reappears an instant before its bolt sinks into Crane's flesh. The other two bolts miss their marks by a wide margin.

As he felt his blade bite, he whipped it away from the goblin and back into position in front of the goblin. Runepriest of the Raven Queen Laina hears the familiar sound of a body hitting the floor, and Crane cry out as he is hit again my missiles. Taking a chance, Laina runs towards where she knows Crane was last, hoping the Hobgoblin will miss her, so she can help him out.

Laina turns and ignore the hobgoblin to go to Crane's aid, luckily the weakened creature misses its mark. In her haste to reach Crane, she also doesn't concentrate on her attack and misses as well. Laina does manage to return Crane to consciousness.
The hobgoblin turns its attention to Antivian with Laina's departure, but much like his earlier attack, his blow lacks precision and is harmlessly deflected by Antivian's armour.

Weeping Crane
The monk rises to his feet, nodding his thanks to Laina. He then reaches out with his right hand, focusing his chi into a psionic extension of his arm. He closes the fist, and the invisible psychic hand follows the motion and attempts to grapple the goblin crossbow archer. The chi extension closes itself around the goblin's neck with a grip as strong as the monk's real hand.
