It's the biggest things that are sometimes the easiest to miss. I know I forgot to give Fluttershy a wing (she had the other) during the artist training grounds at one point.

Day 136:
Flipped the (digital) MM to a random page, drew a quick roper. Looking at the entry they are way stronger than I thought they were, I'm glad I never had to fight one. Time: 20 minutes
Music: Pony
I almost always forget to give non-earth ponies their accessory limbs. Wings, Horns, etc. Sometimes I remember before uploading the image.
Does it count if you almost exclusively try to draw pony-sized, pony-influenced foxes?
Post them. It's the only way we could possible answer. :smallcool:
(Alternatively, Does what count? I'm not sure I follow).
Today's creations!
Some attempts to quickly sketch show-design ponies: Twilight, RD
A fox. Probably not related to the above.
For pun's sake, a hippocampus doodle.
And a random cuddly scene.
Another 30 minute challenge thing. This time it's summer, so here's a badly drawn Rarity lounging on a sunbed.

At least I remembered her horn.
I really am amazed by how some people manage to do a fully drawn and coloured piece in under an hour. Damn good looking pictures too.
Considering I'm posting using the camera on my phone, which has trouble focusing on anything without extreme contrast at short ranges (such as a sketch), I don't think you should worry about it so much. No one has complained yet.
These are excellent, especially the show ponies and hippocampus (mainly for the pun).
Problem is, I can't seem to keep to a style. I keep drifting sideways, or gravitating towards realistic details. A Rarity, attempt at the same style. Howsat?
(edit: comparing side-by-side with the RD pic - yeah, drifted off into detail again. It's hard to exercise restraint with such things for some reason. Though I guess it's still closer to show-design than my usual style. ^_^)
I think it's almost all the neck thing. Just as an experiment, I did a quick 30 second edit of Rarity there, just for comparison purposes.
Spoilerhttp://i49.tinypic.com/2133k9y.jpg
The difference, despite essentially just removing like, two lines, is noticeable I think. I like your style in general, and the quality and confidence of your lines, but detail in the neck just looks strange. It draws attention to a bit of the body we aren't used to having our attention drawn to, like how when you look at a word and it just seems wrong even though you know you spelled it right, or you see someone from a strange angle and for a moment they look like a stranger or even some kind of odd, near-human creature because for a moment it strikes you just how weird the human body is.
Of course I may be entirely wrong.
I figure it was worth pitching my 2 cents, as it's not like the excersize cost me any time.
Hm. Well, maybe. Not in the way you altered it, exactly, but the "neck region" seems to be a common complaint with my drawings. I just can't look at a turned head without noticing the tension lines that form. How about this? Removed what was (supposed to be) a shoulder line, and redrawn the neck tension line so as to be less noticeable. Better?
Also, new shaded sketch. In my usual style this time. I haven't drawn this pony in a while. Something's going on in several areas of the design there, so some refinements will be done, but I'm still seeking any feedback anybody wants to give.
You're very involved with the engineering of the neck. It's probably down to how you see the world around you. But, basically, I think my point is that you should put detail where you want people to look. And lots of people find having their eye drawn to someones neck kind of weird. So, the more sparing you are with detail there in comparison to the rest of the pony, theoretically the less likely people are to react strangely to it.
Definitely an improvement in my opinion. Still looks a little unnatural though, like a fold in the neck rather than stretched skin/muscle. I'm no scholar of cartoon pony anatomy (they are made of marshmallows and rubber) but neck muscles are far more vertical, as well as the tension lines that form. My suggestions: This also gives the side effect of a more upright posture that would be expected of a pony of fine breeding such as Rarity. Leaving the line right out works as well as demonstrated previously, and produces a more show-style drawing. (I also see what you did there, making her look younger by removing the lines under the eyes).
Now I'll go draw something properly...
EDIT: that post above mine was not there when I refreshed and posted originally, but showed up after editing... weird.

Day 136:
Two sisters, eating cake. Time: 30-40 minutes
Music: Pony

Some very literal interpretations there, which or course is the best way to do these things.

Day 138:
First off, Season 3.
And then something I tried, no outlines. Time: 20-30 minutes perhaps
Music: Pony

Day 139:
So I watched the premiere, and then I drew this. There's a reason he's wants the crystals; dark magic seems the obvious answer. (And how did he get out of the ice originally?)Time: About two hours probably
Music: Pony
Also, is there a fanon name for Luna's distaff counterpart?

Cheap jokes are where it's at. Story can come later. Also, were you inebriated when you posted, or was it merely your frustration?

Day 140:
Really nothing today, I don't do stuff quickly and time presses. Somewhat interesting to see what can be done with a few scribbles though. Time: 15 minutes
Music: Pony
Ponythid doing something active: Running.
Sorry pony thread. Long story short, had some problems with my ulnar nerve for a few weeks, thankfully it's starting to settle back down. Also my weekends (my main drawing time) were very busy, but they have become free again. So I drew a few things.
I don't really have much to comment on. But I must say,
SQUIRRELS!
Late, but I bow my head in thanks.
I, for one, am proudly partial to a vrock's sexy demon ass.

Pinkie Pie is not in this spoiler.
Studying ruins is fun with friends! Needs more interesting less dull colors, but it is what it is. Tried to get Dash's wings to look like they were flapping in place. You know, show that elusive movement. Didn't work.
Warning, the column has pseudo-perspective.

A messy sketch of a old man, Huang Zhong, on a horse. Fulfilling two old drawing prompts I never did. It's really messy and made of fecal matter. Tried cleaning it up. But it ended up look worst. Life is a mystery I guess.

Give your alternate universe self a hug/squeeze/cuddle/salute/pat on shoulder/firm handshake with eye contact the next time you see them. After all, they have the dubious honor of being you in another universe. They need all the support they can get.

A squirrel. It's not in a tree. But it has a bazooka type thing and a head band. Please ignore the feet. Wanted to practice coloring fur. Finished my own prompt.

I have to say, I love your style. It reminds me of Scott Pilgrim.
So, the story behind this one is that the IRC is a wild place, full of as much roleplay as Ponythread itself. In the course of one session, Dive Bomb died, and was given one "free reincarnation" pass, or some-such. I chose to honor the great RP spirits, and come back as a fox; the cyber-fox.
Robo-Ky runs away.
Spoilerhttp://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i9...voc/roboky.jpg
Was going to draw Ky chasing him, but then I stopped caring.
I've been having trouble with mine in my right arm, I found that binding it so it stays straight when I sleep helps.
Also, bazooka squirrels.
I'd have to say one of your best works thus far. Keep it up.

Day 141:
Because Thanqol requested it. Time: 50 minutes, thereabouts
Music: Pony (shoulda' done Elvis)
Ah, Ponithids.
This one has the benefit of not looking terrifying. Good stuff.
Also, Pony Elvis, and he's standing with his legs straight? Heh. Well, it amused me. Good otherwise. Heaven knows I'd have hated trying to figure out a wiggly-hip elvis-pony-pose.
Yeah, leg position was hard (why do the legs have to bend backwards?). I figured it out later I think, but I had already drawn them in well so I didn't want to erase. And as someone in ponythread pointed out, I forgot his tail *facepalm*.
I guess they kind of don't bend backwards, as much as their knee is right at the very top of the leg and it's mostly foot all the way down? That almost makes sense.
Day 142:
Part of the hanging our group leader brought back from his conference in China. This one actually does look better in real life, but it took me 24 pictures to even get it this close to focus. (And of course the actual print is amazing).Time: 50 minutes
