"The Star Wars ships are supposedly just firing very high powered lasers for their primary beam weapons."
Actually, they're shooting ionized gas encased in magnetic casing; the same sort of thing that Lightsabers are (and why Lightsabers can deflect blaster bolts). So, plasma, essentially. No idea why they called them Turbolasers.
"In one TNG episode they are being threatened by a ship armed with lasers and they note that lasers wouldn't even be able to penetrate their navigational shield let alone the one they use for actual fighting."
I believe this is a no-limits fallacy, my friend. Bulletproof glass may stop regular bullets, but it won't stop a railgun.
... And now I owe lurker tax and off-topic tax. Why I get myself into this sort of thing, I'l never know.

also, adding some demotivators, as i finally thought of something clever to put with the pictures

The giant in the background is from Neon Genesis Evangelion.

I think it's Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, judging by the weapon one of the girls is wielding. Not sure though.

Since I've seen it used in reference/in conjunction to World of Darkness, I think you're right.

Seems to be an Evangelion // Magical girl Lyrical Nanoha crossover.

Soul Eater themed.
I don't think they're very good, but meh.
Amusingly enough, Twin-Soul does fit the whole thing Medusa did.

Which makes things even worse. Plasma can be directed/contained using magnetic fields (which is how a light sabre works) which makes them a terrible weapon against ships which, presumably, are able to create a magnetic field to protect themselves.
I suppose they are called Turbo lasers for a similar reason to why photon torpedoes are named as such - despite the fact that they use an anti-matter warhead and not photons.

On the other hand, those cannons look like the ammunition is larger than some of the Star Trek ships, so a lucky hit would be all it took. Hmmmm...
...if I find tax, I'll post it to atone for going so far off topic. :smalltongue:
Don't start this. Really Don't. It took 4 threads of discussion and you have to read that first before starting this argument up again. Actually we might have even cleared 4 threads. That discussion really went on for far too long.

I cannot /begin/ to agree more. It was a ridiculous thread, all these issues were brought up and discussed, and everyone parted on amicable terms except the people who were unpleasant about things. Please for the love of whatever you hold dear, don't drag that mess in here. I only just escaped. T~T
And yes, I was the OP of that thread. And I can dig up a link if you /really/ care that much. But this is a thread for posters, not Warhammer vs. ST vs. SW.
Let there be posters.

In particular, there was always this one Star Wars fanboy that needed to be kicked very firmly in the shins.

The same could probably be said of people on the ST and 40k side of things, but let's not go there for any of them since that's not nice or necessary.

I want to see the Dragonlance movie. I mean, it can't be that bad, right?

Re: D&D Demotivators Episode VI: Return of the JPEG
*Sgt. Cookie simply nods*
As a film, it's OK. As a D&D film? That leaves much to be desired.
