Well it's back! :smalltongue:
Any theories on The Flying Dutchmen thing? I'm betting their captain has some kind of DF that let's them either A, survive for a long time, or B, lets them be underwater.
Probably some kind of fraud, anyways.

Neither. Underwater would be redundant. Their ship is just airtight. You cant see the bubble around the 1000 Sunny either. I suppose it could make him be long lived, but that'd be kind of boring for a DF.

I wouldn't be sure.

The quotation marks around his name when a crew member says it, and the fact that the legend is hundreds of years old. So, yeah.

I don't think this would make very much sense. I'm not saying it won't turn out this way, but I'd be disappointed as being underwater is pretty much the one real kryptonite that fruit users have.

Re: One Piece -- Discussion
It only occurred to me now, but Luffy's pet kraken kind of reminds me of naruto's Eighttails (well, he's a kraken too, duh, but still)
Anyway, so Usop is useful and the Strawhats are going to kick some fish ass again, yay. Good old times.

Re: One Piece -- Discussion
Usop is badass. It was nice seeing him save the day.

QFT
I did get really excited when Zoro was going to jump out and cut it (its only, what 10kmeters? he can take it:smallamused:), but Ussop easily saving theday when Zoro perhaps couldn't was much better (and dammit, I wanna see more Sogeking:smallsmile:)

We will never see him again. IMO.

I wouldnt be too surprised, but I wouldn't be so sure, either. Oda loves gags like that, and I can see a case where usopp needs to act but needs or wants to hide his identity.

Ussop doesn't have a bounty though, Sogeking does. Unless I'm mistaken.

It doesn't have to be for bounty purposes. There is no immediately available situation where this owuld come up, but I'm jsut saying it makes sense for Sogeking to come out any time there is a need or desire for Ussop to remain incognito:smallsmile:

I'm torn between feeling bad for Sanji, and wishing I were him.

Re: One Piece -- Discussion
One Piece = (Dragonball Z minus the ****ty parts) + loony tunes = massive win.
I was very skeptical at first, but my 30 year old cousin, who is a film director, told me that it was worth watching. I took his word for it, and I never looked back

Now go back and read it. :smalltongue:

Just don't watch the 4kids version.

Re: One Piece -- Discussion
I just realized something. One piece is structured exactly like an rpg, a jrpg to be exact.
A grand adventure from town to town through a somewhat predirected path, meeting party members one by one, even complete with random encounters along the way!
I was just listening the anime theme songs, they even sounds like songs you'd hear in a jrpg. It's really something in a different style compared to other shonen anime like naruto. Hear luffy's theme, or to the grandline, and say that it doesn't sound like something from a classic jrpg.

Re: One Piece -- Discussion
That's a good comparison. Amusingly enough, I was just trying to scrape together a campaign of maritime adventures and was thinking of One Piece and LoZ: Wind Waker as inspiration.

Re: One Piece -- Discussion
And here, is the One Piece D20 manual.
Later in the month, I plan to DM a game with it if any are interested.

Be sure to post in this thread if/when you do. Or give me a PM, please. Or both. :smallwink:

Re: One Piece -- Discussion
Is it true that Luffy can stretchy *any* part of his body?
-
Re: One Piece -- Discussion
Yes. This was confirmed in-story when all-female inhabitants of Amazon Lily were picking off dangerous mushrooms from Luffy's body and, uh... one didn't come off.
This lead to a fairly hilarious discussion about "family jewels".

Confirmed in story, and separately by Word of God.

Re: One Piece -- Discussion
I'm not sure how he eats anything with rubber teeth though. :smalltongue:
-
Re: One Piece -- Discussion
His teeth and bones are extremely hard, they're just also extremely tough and flexible. As shown by Gear 3, it seems Luffy has at least partial control over how flexible he is at any given moment.

Re: One Piece -- Discussion
Well, finally got a new chapter. With lo~ots of text. And rather few content...
So, Luffy's immune to pison now (at least some, maybe all? Doesn't really make sense, but hey, it's One Piece!)
Also, Brook's back and Fishman island is protected by a pirate empress who loves sweets.
Ad finally, Luffy might destroy the island. Now that'd be a new one... Actually, it would.

Actually, she's one of the Yonkou. Not just an Empress. As for Luffy destroying the island. I say it wont happed. He defies fate.

I'm guessing that Magellan's poison is a combination of all (or at least most) poisons. There might still be poisons that could hurt Luffy, but not many, I'm guessing.

Or Magellan's is so powerful nothing else would cause damage anymore. (Which makes even less sense.)
