Eric looks up at the chimera, "Mother? you're Zee's kid?"
"... Maybe you can help me out."
he looks somewhat distraught
The chimera nods, still watching Eric from her silly up-side down vantage point. "Mother made many of us. We helped her save the world."
Well...
That's nice?
Another chimera creeps up behind Eric and sniffs at him a few times before wrinkling his nose. This one looks like a cross between a jackal, a vulture, a crocodile, and an impala. "You smell like Yog-Sothoth. Have you been rolling in Yog-Sothoth slime? Or chewing on gems of his concentrated power? I think some of the starspawn I killed left a few of those behind."
"He was probably infused with the Beyond One's power against his will," yet another chimera pipes up, this one perched in the rafters high above. A raven/panther/sea-snake/caribou. "Yog-Sothoth commonly does such things."
"Yeah, that's what Zee said too, last time we met. I didn't really think much of it... but..." he looks around the room, seeing different people, "Would you mind if we didn't do this down here? maybe one of the rooms upstairs would be better."
The chimeras might notice a twitch from underneath his coat. nothing major, but there it was
Din sighs, sitting in the corner again...
Din might see Ashley sitting at a nearby table, drinking an Aboleth Absinthe and intently looking at some sand on that table.
The chimeras all look rather shocked at that particular request by Eric, exchanging confused glances whilst trying to figure out how to properly respond.
"Umm... I think..."
"I think we count as under-aged. It really isn't appropriate for you to be asking that sort of thing."
The edge of Raven's mouth is twitching a little, her chest heaving.
It's pretty apparent that she's trying her best to keep up her calm, cold, mysterious appearance without descending into a hysterical fit of giggles.
...
Several other patrons give Eric some odd looks.
Eric firmly move his palm and forehead together with the swiftness loud enough to make a slapping noise, audible all throughout the tavern. "I'm not asking you to do that. I just don't want to be in public when I show you why I smell like Yog."
Ashely notices Din, and gives an absent-minded wave. Seems she more focused on the sand than others. Well, that and the drink she's holding.
A chair somewhere moves, and silent feet quickly move across the tavern, while something does an extremely good job of restraining giggles.
Because those would give her away, and we can't have that, can we?
It only takes a couple seconds to move across, before two little hands are suddenly poking at Eric coat, trying to reveal whatever it is he's hiding.
Maybe there's buttons or a zipper or something the unseen hands can pry at.
Privacy and secrecy?
Who needs 'em!
Certainly not Eric, the silly fellow.
Not in this place, today.
Sitting in a corner is a dwarf. He has a long, tangled, matted and grubby black beard and piercing blue eyes lit with madness. He's wearing chainmail, still shiny and in quite good condition, although the dwarfen steel is beginning to rust in places and a helmet mounted with a massive pair of antlers. He doesn't seem to have an axe, which is very unusual for a dwarf; in fact, he seems to be unarmed.
He's staring at everybody that seems interesting, the spirits residing in his head telling him snippits of information about those he gazes at.
Well, Viera will catch Eric by surprise, and so she'll be able to undo his jeck. Unerneath is a white shirt, though. It can easily be see sen afterwards that a pair of round things are wrapping around his chest. If Viera reaches up his shirt, she'll find that they won't move. Mainly because Eric is holding the damn tentacles in place. He's not showing them off here!
"Hey! Stop that!" he says, attempting to grab Viera's hands and pull them out from under his shirt.
"Why not?" Divaonar inquires curiously, nosing at Eric's shirt about the time one of his siblings gets snagged. "Did you mutate or something? Ooooh! Did you get tentacles! I think mutations from Yoggy usually result in tentacles!"
"Tentacles are gross," Plum comments, making a rather sour face and sticking out her tongue.
Oddly enough neither Zee nor any of the chimeras have tentacles!
That must make her quite unique among Far things.
When Eric grabs Viera's hands Raven is now watching him very closely.
He'll likely be able to feel the chimera's icy gaze drilling into the back of his head. The message sent is pretty darn simple, too. Harm my sister and suffer.
Ashley looks at Din for a second or two. Then she returns to the sand. "Ashley. And I'm scrying. A friend of mind said she was going to HALO, and I wanted to make sure she made it okay."
Ashley perks up a bit, and the sand returns to a pouch on her belt. "Her name's Ally. She's about my height, red hair, a little younger than me."
Viera returns to visibility in her usual patchwork fashion, ears twitching slightly as she grumps and looks up at Eric.
She wriggles her hands a little against his.
"You can't hide tentacles, silly. If you got something from Yoggy...that's not good. Is it?"
She's not sure.
Mildly positive Mother would say no, and her siblings would agree.
So yes. Probably not good, we're going with that.
The girl wriggles her hands again, still pouting.
She was really hoping to get a good look, rather than a feel.
Ashley looks a little saddened at that, and grabs a handful of sand again. "If you want to help, go right ahead. I think I'll have to head there myself before long, though." She downs the rest of her drink, and says in a lower voice, "I should've gone with her. I hope the Starspawn didn't get her..."
"Fine, yes, I have tentacles!" Eric says. He doesn't unwrap them from around his chest though. "I wanted to talk to your mother about how to get rid of them. Be a non-mutant, you know?"
Ashley looks incredulous. "The Starspawn of the Old Ones. They attacked Inside. Tried to bring the apocalypse."
"Went past you?" Ashley looks a little surprised, but shakes her head. "It doesn't matter. We stopped them."
Ashley continues her attempts at scrying, but eventually sighs. "I'm never going to find her this way. You said you lived at HALO. Could you take me there?"
Ashley takes Din's hand. "Sure. One of my favorite ways to travel."
"Unhand her." Raril growls at Eric, fury glowing in his red eyes.
