Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
Vrishma
The vanara squirms uncomfortably at Ikeira's words. So you say, Ikeira, but to me it seems thus, it does: you and your family think well of each other only as long as you are apart. A pity it is, indeed it is, that your clan separates your family thus. Is that why you said once ago, I would ask, that others have considered your ways a dishonor to your ancestors?
He overhears Nobutada's comment and turns slightly towards the guide. Why, Nobutada, are you sure the sage Genki ndeed lives there, I ask? We had heard that he was not seen for long time, we have.
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
Nobutada nods.
"Indeed he hasn't been seen around Rokugan for a long while, but he has been up here in the mountains, doing whatever it is that men like Genki do in solitude. I have seen him walking along in his temple, lost in his thoughts."
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
Well that's a relief. I wasn't sure he was even alive still.
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
Indeed, Vrishma nods. much, much older he seems to be than any mortal I know, he does. What else is he famous for, I ask, he says with a glint of curiosity in his face.
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
Nobutada looks into the fire for awhile before answering.
"The last major thing he did was eliminate a great plague from Rokugan. This was still while the Scorpions were exiled in the desert. Entire villages were wiped out. Even the Emperor fell ill. Genki appeared and cured the Emperor and then walked Rokugan. Wherever he went, the plague vanished. It...it took my family. I was ten. Genki took me in for a few years until I was old enough to look after myself. Since then, I've felt obliged to keep an eye on him, and lead worthy travelers to him when their need is great. In his younger days, he worked tirelessly against the Shadowlands. He successfully led smaller groups of warriors into combat in the Shadowlands. He was known as the Bane of Shadow."
Nobutada breaks off and stares into the fire some more.
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
Masaya whistles. A long time ago, then.
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
Nobutada nods.
"No one really knows how old he is. I've asked him before. He always smiles the same smile and responds with a simple 'What is time?' I've since stopped asking."
Nobutada smiles and continues to gaze into the fire.

Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
((We movin on, or does anyone else have anything to say?))
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
Not at the moment; Vrishma would eventually fall asleep, but would leave Shimikawa to guard (as much as he can).
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
After he's eaten, Masaya will just sit and look at the stars for a while, and then go to sleep.
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
Nobutada rouses himself from his recollections and looks around.
"I suggest we all get some sleep. Tomorrow we see Genki, and I imagine some sort of test will be involved, so rest up."
Nobutada crawls into his tent and no one sees him for the rest of the night.
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
Vrishma
Vrishma yawns widely and scratches his back. He turns to Masumi, trying to determine if she's still awake and if she has any significant injuries (he will heal her if she has).
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
ikeira
Ikeira heads off to bed stopping by masumi long enough to raise her hand to his lips and kiss it.
"sleep well masumi."
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
Chion
Chion ill relax as much as he can. He is still unsure of both surounding and company. He will watch the group as they settle down.
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
Chion, the snow is falling softly out of the air. A couple of rabbits hop around, foraging for food. There's no sign of hostile or malicious activity as the night goes on.
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
((Will post continuance later today. Running later for work...))
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
(Masumi was only exhausted and wasn't at length hurt in ways that require healing. She can sleep her damage off)
There ARE ways to make Masumi think about going on a rampage. This isn't one, but the ronin-ko doesn't seem all that happy at the gesture Ikeira gives either, as evident by the rosey color in her cheeks and her eyes flutter that way they do when she's irked.. or confused. She draws her hand back a little too fast and drags her bedroll away from the others in a huff.
"I appreciate all your help, Ikeira, but quit while you're ahead...
...And everyone stop fussing over me like a spoiled princess. I'm going to sleep."
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
((Unless anyone has anything to do...))
You all rise the next morning and find that another six inches fell while you were all asleep. Nobutada is already awake and near the edge of camp, peering off into the distance, an alert look on his face. You each see that some of the leftovers from the night before have been places on a rock, on some gold panning dishes. There's one for each of you.
"Eat up," he says distractedly, not turning around. "You're going to need your strength." He continues to stare off into the distance.
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
Ah, breakfast already made! You are definitely an excellent guide Nobutada, says Masaya enthusiastically. He sits down by the rock and starts to eat, looking up at Nobutada. Something wrong?
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
Ikeira
Ikeirastudies his spell selection again and then identifies the katana given by the yeti before eating.
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
Still scannin the surrounding area, Nobutada replies.
"I'm not sure. Something feels...off."
Ikeira, upon further inspection, you notice some jade and onyx inlaid in the handle. It is a +2 Taint Resistant katana ((completely random roll, too hehe)).
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
So Ikiera, asks Masaya is the Katana magical?
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
Vrishma wakes up, calmly, and sighs contentedly from the good sleep before he sits up and feels his fur bristle from the cold in the early morning. He shrugs, and ambles over to the trees where he begins his ceremonies, shivering slightly as he pours some of the water in his waterskin over himself (he will dry himself after his meditations are over). After finishing, he heads back to the others and notices they are already up and meeting, and he just catches Ikeira's spellcasting. Sensing that this might be interesting, he yawns widely and walks over to look.
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
Chion
Chion will rise slowly and stretch after hs short 4 hours of sleep and walk to eat with the rest of the group. "Well, what do you think it is guide ? It was safe enough last night till early morning."
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
Nobutada closes his eyes for a few moments.
"I'm not sure. Something...forboding. Something that wants to cause pain to...someone, or some people. Hatred. But it seems to be staying well back from Genki's sphere of influence."
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
"..And how far are we from that sphere of influence?"
Masumi approaches, havind put her plaits back up and appears surprisingly well refreshed. Her meal is allready gone and the woman seems eager, if not antsy, to finish things...
(OOC Was there any claim on the katana yet?)
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
"We are inside that influence right now, Masumi-san. Why do you think it was safe to rest without guard last night? Come, the sooner we get to Genki, the sooner I can scout out this...disturbance." He goes and begins to pack up his things and saddle his horse.

Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
Ikeira
noting the effect of the sword he quickly checks his tattoos since he had been wearing the sword all day yesterday
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
Vrishma looks at Ikeira, noticing where he checks, and then the sword. A most excellent blade this is, Ikeira, is it not? Has it any additional powers, I would ask?
-
Re: Oriental Adventures (Restart)
The almost constant discomfort of the tattoo is somewhat lessened by the sword, but it hasn't receded at all.
