Regarding the Forum Rules, it doesn't matter why one brings up religion. The Forum Rules prohibit discussion of real world religion, entirely and for any reason. Whether a post (or posts) are considered trolling is a matter of judgment, one which the moderators old and new are well-trained to make, and which obviously cannot rely on what the poster says was intended after the fact.
I lifted that from the last locked religion thread I could find. It's a Roland quote.
*edit: Is there any way to quote from another thread and still keep the nametag?

No. Lack of faith will kill the gods, but each of the gods and their respective religions have enough believers and worshipers to keep them alive. And people do worship one god or pantheon while acknowledging the existence of others. The Romans did it all the time.
Also, it's Isarus, not Icarus.

I have a rather pertinent question: If astrid coming down herself was such a momentous rare event why were there three other gods also down there waiting for her, albeit a year and a half later?
Rockwell, Golek, and Erikaf had just been raised.

social darwinism isn't a religion, it was a jerk pseudo-scientific justification for why that guy was better than you because they were extrapolating off of real Darwinism when their knowledge of science wasn't advanced enough for Jared Diamond's theory to form. :smallyuk: it was more a cultural thing than anything political or religious, so it does not fall under the ban upon religion and politics.

Guys, please don't get my thread locked. And believe me, this story is a lot deeper than Janine knows.

The rules state that if a specific poster/posters is/are causing problems in a thread but the thread itself is not violating the rules the posters will be issued and infraction and told not to post there anymore. You're FINE.

fine. its edited. :smallannoyed: So what CAN I talk about here in these forums? every time I open my mouth it seems I'm running up into one ban-wall or another.

Re: Murphy's Law 4 (4 Times The Mayhem!)
Topic shift a minute...you guys talked a bit about what the whole not being blessed by Astrid thing meant? I thought it meant the valley is shrouded in mist year 'round.

Hm, that would be an interesting interpretation. Though it just seems to mean whoever the goddess shines over.

Well yeah, but thats where the mist comes in, stops her light from shining on them. Whatever, it's probably more that the story is slanted towards a certain viewpoint. Like the pic of janine vs. old cleric guy, with him being the one who would cite this story as reason why no plavaan can be redeemed, ever.

Catering to the whims of others who don't even know your name may suck more than a vacuum cleaner with asthma, but the real world stuff makes sense. You'd be surprised how many flame wars have started over that stuff.
Change of topic: When exactly was it stated the Alavaan planes are shrouded in mist? i think i missed it =/

Re: Murphy's Law 4 (4 Times The Mayhem!)
No, Erikaf is the Drow goddess of mist, fog, and rain. The Drow are extremely photosensitive, and they need the mist and rain to grow their crops.

The rest of the Alavaan plains are sunny and grasslands and perfect for growing all sorts of crops. The Drow live in the southern marshier parts.

The fact you have thought all of this through is both awe-inspiring for a writer and disturbing :smalleek:
I had no idea it was possible to feel both awe and disturb. edness.

Re: Murphy's Law 4 (4 Times The Mayhem!)
And marshes are often foggy, right? O.o

Marshier. That place is fantastic for growing rice.
If you want swamp swamp in Nordica, head to Runite. Well, the parts surrounding the city itself. :smalltongue:

Ah. Well, thinking out settings is fun. You can add strange and funny things sometimes, and the whole process is cool.

I've tried thinking them up but unless the story is already there i feel like i'm strangling myself. Thus, awe.

Ah. Sometimes I do that. Sometimes I develop a setting first and the characters after. Sometimes I develop the characters first. All depends on the circumstance, really.
