The panel where the soldier asks if Parson's bonus is worth the wait? Why would you be "kind of terrified" by it?

Re: Erfworld, The Thread.
and we cut to meanwhile at the top of the tower and Slately clearly planning on bumrushing oss in a desperate attempt to escape.
-
Re: Erfworld, The Thread.
Not to escape, I think the point was to somehow earn the money to promote his son by defeating ossomer or something like that. I don't think he intends to leave spacerock alive.

The money would be earned by defeating decrypted Archons, as Charlie put a bounty on them. Defeating Ossomer is most likely just a bonus.

Yeah, that was it. I just remembered that Slately's plan wasn't escaping. but I was too lazy to go read the details again. Thanks.

Archons are pretty powerful units, though (they were able to solo admittedly wounded dwagons in Book 1)...attacking them is definitely a big risk.

Judgin' from his sad mood, I wonder if Ossomer will even defend himself from the attack... (unless forced to)

Re: Erfworld, The Thread.
The amount of buildup with Ossomer has gotten a bit ridiculous. I think the authors are maybe over-reacting in response to the complaints of some readers that plot twists earlier seemed to come out of nowhere?

Re: Erfworld, The Thread.
As long as Artemis gets Decrypted, I don't care!

Really? You could be right, but I don't see it this way. The decrypted are a very unusual unit, and their personality is depicted since the end of book one, showing us a possible evolution in their behaviour.
Usually, they feel themselves filled with a sort of divine mandate, they know they're right and Destiny is with 'em. But even the herald of this sort of holy war (Ansom) is showing some cracks in his "armor", and maybe hopes in a sort of help.
So it's interesting to see how Ossomer, a very paladinesque type, finds himself still bounded to its old feelings toward honor and duty. It seems almost that the decryption, as time passes, is losing its grip on him, rather than reinforcing.
The way this will evolve, can open new scenarios for all (or at least, some of) the decrypted units.

Is it the decryption or is it questioning Wanda?
They may well be under a Titanic mandate - stop wars. End the 'game'. It's just the methods to do that are ... unpalatable.
Kind of like a soldier who knows he has to fight in order to win the war, but hates the killing and suffering part of it all.

I thought there weren't going to be any more text updates? :smallconfused:

No, he said there would be fewer, as opposed to one between every comic as there had been. There was even a note on the site recently saying we may get a text update instead of a comic this week because of the con.

Ya I was confused too. Somehow it got spread around that there were going to be no more instead of less I guess.

Re: Erfworld, The Thread.
His plan was to slow down on Text Updates, but the various conventions made him put one back in to make sure SOME update came, rather than skipping.
-
Re: Erfworld, The Thread.
Finally, a new update!
An interesting one, I must say. Thoughts on fate and stuffs about battle plans. :smallwink:

Re: Erfworld, The Thread.
Can't believe I didn't realize that crucial flaw in making the tower fall myself.
-
Re: Erfworld, The Thread.
It's also interesting to note that now they're studying Jojo' scroll...

I don't think they are, just the mathimancy gauntlet.

On a second look, it appears you're right. The scroll it's simply held by Parson and it's still rolled up.
-
Re: Erfworld, The Thread.
Slately's fearsome signamancy is hilarious- that is all.
-
Re: Erfworld, The Thread.
Am I the only person who feels this is going to end very badly for Jack?
-
Re: Erfworld, The Thread.
Not so sure. The old "cut in half by failing portal" thing seems way too gruesome for this comic; in fact, I'd consider something like that to be an unpleasant and unnecessary swing in tone.
-
Re: Erfworld, The Thread.
Wasn't the only problem with the tower falling that if it fell, the King in the tower would fall with it, and when he dies the portal goes poof?
If so, the King now has a jetpack equipped, among other accessories courtesy of Ace. He's going to live, even if our heroes don't know it, so the portal will stay up.
If it was something else (like the tower being linked to the portal room somehow) then yeah, it'll end up sucking, and make a huge chunk of the last year absolutely worthless.
-
Re: Erfworld, The Thread.
No, that's not the case at all.
If the tower falls, the city ceases to be a capital.
Therefore, the portal closes.

Capitals are determined by tower? Then, uh, why didn't the portal close here?

Spacerock has a dungeon. (panel 11)

The capital is determined by ownership. Since Slately and his garrison still technically control the garrison-space of the city, it remains Jetstone's capital until the capital is transferred, the city falls, or Slately dies.
