Derec "Firestorm"-JK 7296
Crash Site, Mandalore
Derec looked up to the sky, seeing the flaming wreackage denoting the less fortunate crashing down. He lowered his head and exhaled. Rest in peace, comrades.
Treason. It's always treason with those bastards.
Quote:
"No responses from Derec, Ryer, and Kael... Are they okay?"
This nudged Derec back into reality. "Firestorm here, holding the southern perimeter. No contacts yet."
Whcih made him uneasy. It was always when you couldn't see the enemy you shoudl start worrying. Especially one as underhanded as the Sith. Holstering one of the carbines, he fished out a heat sensor from his webbing, flicked it on, and trained it up the slope towards the most liekly avenues of approach for attackers.

[roll1] The sensor is good to 100m (~66 squares), and, being a heat sensor, can pucnh through cover and concealment quite nicely.
-
Re: Star Wars - Durasteel
Being at the bottom of the bowl-like crash site, the heat sensor doesn't work very well to discern any heat sensors outside of it...
Derec will have to move out of the bowl to get a better more useful reading.
It is clear though that this bowl is not a very defensive position, with little cover besides the low trench carved out by the shuttle.

Ryer'voss'nudo JK-7242 "Blue"
Crash Site, Mandalore
"Ohlllgh." Back in the shuttle Ryer comes to groaning and holding his head. "Anybody get the number off that load lifter?" he quips as he frees himself from his restraints and checks his gear. Rifle, check. Flechette, check. Tool kits, check and check. The Bag. Where the Sith is the Bag? His mental checklist is interrupted by the inability to find the backpack where he keeps the various explosives he carries. "Boomer! You seen my bag? Nevermind." He reaches down and tugs on a black and red field bag until it comes free. Opening it, he counts the various Devices inside and removes two items. One is a grenade launcher which he immediately attaches to his rifle. The other is a separate bandoleer with various kinds of grenades attached. He swiftly throws the Bag and bandoleer over separate shoulders and exits the shuttle.
"Blue, checking in. Chie." He only gets part of the callsign out before he glances upward. "SITHSPAWN! Tell me that ain't the Initiative."
In response to DM.

Meg JK-7241 - Raven
"Roger that, Chief" Meg replies as she moves towards the wreckage.
The team is fired upon before she can step out of place to check the wreckage, however.
She quickly hunkers down as close to cover as she can.
"Viper, situation?" she asks quickly, looking up momentarily to note if Viper was showing any signs of injury.

Re: Star Wars - Durasteel
Leaving the bomb safely behind, Tambor finds cover between the wing of the shuttle and the wall of the building behind the Jokers.
In the ruined floors of the wrecked building through which the Jokers had smashed, he can see movement.
As Ryer emerges from the shuttle, he sees the snipers as well, though the figure appearing at the top of the slope are a little more menacing...
Meg gets her first glimpse of a Sith Lord on Mandalore...
Its hood covers its face, hiding gender and species, but that doesn't cause its aura of evil and cold demeanor to diminish at all. Next to the Sith stands a traitorous officer, wearing armor with black detailing, he directs the movements of other troopers upon the slope.
The Chief can see that they don't look like they're in a mood to talk, with a heavily armed trooper being supported on the eastern slope and opposed by two more packs of troopers on the center and southern sides...

Hask winces as he sees the forces arrayed against them. "Ah, shavrak," he mutters a curse in Dosh. Hopping down into the trench with his squadmates, he takes cover against the far wall alongside Soonto. Crouched down in cover, he slaps his magnetized grenade launcher onto his back before swinging out an enormous PLX-2M Portable Missile Launcher. Raising his head cautiously over the trench, Hask eyes the enemy lines, picking out the largest clump of enemies. "Well, here we go, huh?"

>< This initial map is horribly out of scale!
But okay, I'll get to work on scaling it out properly.
I should mention that the furrow left by the shuttle is vitrified by the heat. So its nice and solid...
Its acceptable cover if the Jokers get low...
And uh, yeah-the shuttle isn't gonna explode anytime soon, and its still got all its armor on...

1 square=1.5 meters.
Derec quickly returned the heat sensor to his webbing and drew the carbine again in a single move, spinning to face the attackers. Living up to his name, he doused the Sith positions in a veritable hail of blasterfire while moving across the furrowed-out trench and pressing himself up against the lip for cover.

Marina JK-7227 - Spitfire
A kind of shiver runs through Marina as she hears over the comm that the other fireteams have seen suicides, all female. What the frak was that supposed to mean?
She's about to suggest to the boss that this place looks like a killing field and they should get out before someone follows their shuttle to the crash site, when... oh, look, she was right. No time for cursing or complaining; she snaps off a potshot at the Sith largely out of sheer reflex before dropping into the trench between Soonto and Jauhzmyn.
