Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
New comic!
Spoiler
Show
Is there any chance whatsoever that this dice is not the dice that killed Qui Gon? Or will that be saved for when Padme dies?
-
Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
Jim playing Han makes perfect sense.
But then, Jim playing Qui-Gon and Padme made no sense at all, and that was probably one of the greatest thing in the entire comic so far.
Jim would play Han in a straight adaptation of the movies. But what fun would be in that?

Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
I don't get the first panel. Was what a pun?

Heh, fair enough. Then again, Leia is also pretty gung-ho. You're not suggesting he play Luke, do you? :smallamused:

"I have the high ground". A pune, or play on words, because he has it both in the moral and tactical sense.
If I'm remembering right, the line showed up in the movie and was rather widely mocked, on account of it ruining the mood.

Oooooooh. I totally didn't see that.
Curse my woefully inadequate grasp of the English language.

If it is the same dice, then it had already rolled three ones in a row. It should be luckier this time, since the ones have been pre-rolled out.

Unless the die is cursed and rolls ones far more often, then it should - you can't pre-roll a cursed die.

Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
I seem to remember Pete saying "that's the last time that die will see the daylight" the last time it was used. As they've been quite consistent with jokes like that in the past, I doubt it will be the same one.
-
Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
But that die wasn't used in a specifically life or death situation. I thought that was one of his regular dice.

Ah, I didn't get that. Thanks.
Was "pune" a typo or a random Pratchett reference?
As for the comic, this would be really suspenseful if we didn't already know how it will turn out.

Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
The DM, Lucas, will step down to play Luke in the original trilogy. Annie will DM. Pete will play R2. Jim will play Han ("I have a blaster!"), Sally will play Leia (although that would make the Leia/Han romance... weird), or Leia is a DMPC, and Sally doesn't play or still keeps switching characters, and Ben... I don't know.

Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
Oh ffs, I almost forgot there was a new comic today
Well... now then, we get back to cursed/blessed/pre-rolled dice now, hu? Actually, in the last month I had too weird things happen... once I rolled three ones at once on my d20s and another time one die rolles three 1s in a row... I lost all belief in stochastic at that point.
For the new comic... I really wish I wouldn't know what was going to happen.

Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
And so it comes, I'm looking forward to Thursday.

Pratchett reference, naturally.

Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
The idea of jim as han solo just made me think of the cantina scene with the whole han shot first trouble.
DM: "A bounty hunter approaches you and tells you to sit down."
Jim: "A bounty hunter? He must have money, I SHOOT HIM!"
DM: "What? You shoot him? Dont you want to listen to what he has to say first?"
Jim: "No, bounty hunters are tricky, so I shoot him first!"

Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
Heh, yeah, that's what I was thinking of as well. Actually can't wait for that strip.
-
Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
The next one will be completely unexpected. They set it up too perfectly, now it would be boring to do what everyone knows for sure will happen.
-
Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
This could possibly be considered another brick joke. If what Anakin is about to try is the same as how Obi-Wan killed Darth Maul, well, look what Maul said in that strip:
"It's over, kid. I have the high ground."

Y'know, you're totally right.

Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
Ok, so it isn't the dice that killed Qui Gon. It is, in fact, a dice so hallowed that everyone must leave the house to roll it.
I think I'm missing something here.
-
Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
I actually giggled out loud for this one.
Pete really is obsessive about dice, it seems.

I think the die isn't so much "hallowed" as it is "hazardous".
-
Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
Okay.... so... is it a glass die filled with nitroglycerin or how can it be so dangerous?
-
Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
Rocket die!
It's one-use only, it needs to land on a steel tray, and you need rubber gloves to roll it. It will explode, burst into flames, or take off somehow.
-
Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
Don't forget the goggles. I wonder if they do nothing?
It sounds like some sort of electricity is involved.
...and now I really want to see that die.
-
Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
I'm afraid that we will never know what this die is. All this build up will turn out to be just noodle implement.
