Oh boy... okay, I can understand having missed it till now cause she's rather pale and transluscent, but...
Haley's Self-Loathing Alter Ego has an eyebrow piercing.

Re: Things you never noticed II: I never noticed the first thread
When Redcloak was talking to the mirror in 701, he wasn't just talking to himself. He was seeing Right Eye in the reflection, as the mirror makes his eye-patch appear to be on the right eye.

You mean his left eye, but yes, you're absolutely right. I love that little reference--the comic makes sense for everyone, but SoD readers get the deeper meaning.

Re: Things you never noticed II: I never noticed the first thread
On a less significant note from that same strip, I just now noticed that one of the goblins in the second-to-last panel has the same light green skin color as the koalinths in 823. He doesn't have the webbed ears and probably isn't meant to be one, but it's still interesting to see.

He's a Half-goblin/Half-hobgoblin and isn't same colour as koalinths.
-
Re: Things you never noticed II: I never noticed the first thread
I dissagree. He certainly looks like a koalinth.
-
Re: Things you never noticed II: I never noticed the first thread
Can Koalinths survive on land?
As for the colour, the koalinths are shown underwater. The colour is affected. See how the hobgoblin cleric is a duller shade of orange than the ones on land. I don't think we can judge the species from colour alone.
-
Re: Things you never noticed II: I never noticed the first thread
Koalinths first appeared in a bonus strip and their ears look as they do in #823 (though they are lacking gills). No reason to assume he changed their ears to look terrestrial in #701 and then changed it back for no reason. I'm going either with half-goblin/half-hobgoblin, half-koalinth/half-other-goblinoid, or some other form of mixed heritage.

If you look in the first panel, there's a number of figures around the water, but not under it, with the same skin color (as opposed to the darker green goblins that can also be seen).

Re: Things you never noticed II: I never noticed the first thread
A little toying around in paint shows that the mixed-race goblin has a darker skin tone than both the Koalinths in the water and out of the water:

Note that the middle circle is similar to the right one but not identical in color. It's not a Koalinth; it's the happy offspring of some goblin/hobgoblin mingling.

Re: Things you never noticed II: I never noticed the first thread
In the penultimate panel of 821, Tarquin's dimmer makes its return.
-
Re: Things you never noticed II: I never noticed the first thread
I never noticed Belkar's small sized dagger in the first panel of the very first stript. It is small sized, then it grows the next time it appears just to shrinks again when it's "upgraded" :smalltongue:

Re: Things you never noticed II: I never noticed the first thread
Hi. I never noticed that the "Jokes you didn't get" thread disappeared, where I wanted to ask my question. Then I searched the whole #761 thread for the meaning of the joke in first panel here,, consulted several online dictionaries, and finally got the joke when I consulted my printed dictionary. Good one, the semantics of the english language continue to surprise me.

It's not really a joke, though, is it? Just Elan mistaking a word for a similar-sounding word in a mildly humorous manner.
@V: yes, that's what I meant
-
Re: Things you never noticed II: I never noticed the first thread
Er, what's your definition of a joke, then? It was something written with literally no other purpose than to provoke laughter or amusement. Even if it failed for you, personally, it doesn't make it not a joke, just not a good one.
Edit: Wait, I think I see what you're saying. No, Elan wasn't purposefully telling a joke, but it still falls under the definition; rather, it was Rich Burlew who was telling the joke. It was a joke, but it wasn't one in-universe.

When Roy puts on Xykon's crown, the very next thing he says is, "Strange though, it doesn't feel quite right."
-
Re: Things you never noticed II: I never noticed the first thread
Yeah, but has nothing to do with the crown.

Re: Things you never noticed II: I never noticed the first thread
In Strip #632 i never noticed the Archfiends names reflect their alingnment
LEE (Lawful Evil)
NERO (Neutral Evil)
CEDRICK (Chaotic Evil)
And from the way those cards are arranged, i would say that the orange one is Lee the devil, the yellow one is Nero the Daemon and the purple one is Cedrick the Demon. You can even guess the soul splices alingnment: Haerta, covered in purple, is Chaotic evil, Ganoron is Lawful evil and Jephton is neutral evil.
-
Re: Things you never noticed II: I never noticed the first thread
Lee was revealed to be the yellow one in a later strip. Nero was confirmed to be purple and Cedrik to be orange in the commentary.
-
Re: Things you never noticed II: I never noticed the first thread
So i guess i screwed up the cards arrangement. but the name thing still stands.

That's odd, because Ganonron is summoned with orange magic and Jephton by yellow, but it would make more sense for a guy with vast armies to be Lawful and a "master of arcane flexibility" to be Chaotic.

Off topic but this is not how alignment works. Also Chaotic orc armies have leaders who are presumably Chaotic and the arcane flexbility is in reference to the fact that as a sorceror Jephton can select spells on the go

Yes, I'm sure he knew that. He was just saying it would be more fitting for the master of arcane flexibility to be chaotic. He never said it was impossible or even improbable that Jephton would not be Chaotic.

"Tear down creation, just to see if you can!"
Sounds pretty chaotic to me.

Re: Things you never noticed II: I never noticed the first thread
In 830, Redcloak mentions that he used Command Undead when he entered the room. In 828 his hand glows with power twice without a spell name being called. He's using Command Undead.
