I just realized something intriguing about how the comic is going right now. If we can get to strip 176 without violating my theory, then I'll tell everyone what it is.
Not really. Four strips probably wouldn't be enough time for Coffee to overturn my prediction unless she was already planning on doing it.
Alagaesian is right, and she made an observation that I wasn't aware of. :smalltongue:
You know, this OOTS strip also got me thinking about necromantic magic in the Aequar magic academies. At the very least, anybody wishing to specialize in Necromancy would be required to take an ethics class.
Honestly, you'll have to work to convince me that anyone who can make the fabric of reality bend to their whim doesn't need to take an ethics class regardless of their favourite school. xD
They'll need to study at the feet of Peter Parker...
"With great power comes great responsibility."
The ethics teacher at the academy is an old swordsage named Peter Parker. That sounds okay.
No, ethics class should be taught be Uncle Ben.
Here's why:
"Now, what do we do if reality starts to tear at the seams?"
"Well, first we-"
"WRONG! It never WILL tear at the seams because nobody smart enough to cast such a spell is stupid enough to cast such a spell!"
Mind control class:
"I am a stupid teacher. I have no friends. I will go back to my fun after giving all of my students ice cream."
Same here. I classified necromancy in a world i've been building in the back of my mind into three kinds of spells, two of which have to do with reanimation.
My rebuttal: Serrin Peakane.
"I assume that's the kind of thing you'd make me say if I hadn't crafted a ring that made me immune to mind-affecting spells. You think the university would hire any two-bit wizard to teach you?"
*Winces and nods*
Heh, you know, if Tsukiko had gone to the Almir Magic Academy and left the way she was in the comic, then her relatively short tenure would have probably gone as follows:
--Decides to major (specialize) in Necromancy.
--Goes through the Mystic Theurge program too.
--Decides to do research in the Necromancy Labs. She's probably really, really excited about this.
--Realizes that the wizards in the labs do tests on the undead. Also, all the undead in the necromancy labs are willingly donated bodies.
--Decides to found PETU, People for the Ethical Treatment of Undead.
--Also fails her required Ethics Of Necromancy class. Several times.
--Some time later, Tsukiko decides to break into the necromancy lab and free all the poor undead who are being cruelly tested on.
--Except that one of the experiments was to determine exactly how death by wight turned someone into a wight (this was done with animals).
--So when Tsukiko set them free...
--Let's just say that she was rather unceremoniously expelled the next day.
I get the feeling something similar happened in canon.
Love the mental image; but I have the personal pet theory that she was found doing some "extra-curricular activities" with undead :smallwink:
My work is done then :smallcool:
Don't ask me how I managed to do a comic on my first day of classes. I'm not quite sure either.
#173: Who Learned Nothing
First note: it's been a while since we've seen Janine. And it's always nice to delve a bit into her character.
Second Note: Janine and the cleric swap sides mid conversation.
Poor Janine.:smallfrown:
More hints that the details of her past traumatic encounter(s?) with a certain priest will make my blood boil. Which we may be getting soon since this guy is probably going to have questions.
Indeed. *Spelling errors not mine*
Um... interesting comic. I'm gonna wait for the next one before I try to figure out fully what's going on.
Okay, I did see the casting problems coming, but I did not foresee that last panel. I might need some of that brain bleach, if not for the thought of Janine and that priest actually going at it, then for what Johan must have done to make her like this.
Incoming ****-storm cenctered on Janine in 3... 2... 1-
*Casts sheild and runs*
edit: *Returns under the effects of stoneskin.*
Wait; hang on, there was a perticular guy that abused Janine? I though she was reffering to her god in strip 149...
Then again, her god's a girl, so that wouldn't work ethier....
Edit: Oh, just read back again. Yeah, defintly an abuse victim.
*bleep*. Oh *bleep*. *bleep bleep bleep bleep bleep*.
In conclusion, I would like to say that this just got a whole lot more *bleep*ed up. And that Janine is totally *bleep*ed.
If I were the kind of person that laughs at horrible backstories, I would point out how poorly worded this is.
Luckily, I have Tinsley, who is such a person, and so it will not go unpointed-out.

Silly! It's not an abuse if a priest does it. You've listened too much to petty gossip.
