My condolences. I hope your friend's family is doing alright. :smallfrown:
Thanks :smallfrown:
I know there's nothing that can be done, it was just really unexpected.
Sorry to hear that Zoot, hope you feel better.
*hugs*
Looks like everybody's having it rough =/
Sorry to hear, Zoot. Hope you guys are getting some closure.
On my end...got a text message saying my parents have split up. Also our rate of rent went up -just- enough that I can't actually pay for it each month at the moment. Really hope my group assessment on wednsday goes well...
Text message? Couldn't they have told you or called? That really sucks though.
At least they did, my parents didn't tell me they were splitting up. Mum just said we were living somewhere else and I kinda worked out for myself (being all of 7 at the time) that Dad wasn't living with us.
You're not wrong there...
Oh hell... that's bad news and a horrible way to share it :smallfrown: I'm sorry... get yourself into Centrelink and see about getting some help (I think you said you weren't eligible before because your parents earned too much?) - see if this news changes things in any way.
Want a care package? I make awesome chocolate chip cookies
I know that's random, but I also totally mean it... I like giving presents and I do make awesome chocolate chip cookies.
...I'd love you forever.
Hello fellow Aussies!
It's been about 4 and a half years since I lurked/posted here (Dec '07), but since the recent kickstarter I thought I'd make a bit more of a contribution to the discussions again.
Haven't read any of this thread yet, but its good to see that we are an active group on the forums at least.
Be chatting soon!

What a sucky pile-up of bad circumstances :smallfrown: Can you appeal the rent rise?My mum left us without saying goodbye to me :I
SpoilerShe left with her then-boss, now-husband. I was walking home from school, and she sent her secretary off to find me. She couldn't (not sure how, I was like a field away...), so Mum left.
Still, at least she told my dad she was going. Her husband's then-wife had to call my dad to find out what was going on...
Zoot: I'm so sorry :smallfrown:
That's awful, Serps. *hugs*
Oh, I'm well over it now. It happened when I was 6. Nowadays I just use it to make her feel bad :smalltongue:
Why is it that adults feel they can get away with not telling kids important things? It's gutless, I think.
Well, my Dad told me that she was gone when I got home, and we did talk about it at different times (although there was a fun bit where she said "we just didn't love each other anymore", and he said "that's bull-ess, I still love her" (that was with my older sister, not me)).
When it comes to parents, I've been lucky. My friend, not so much.
Well, I'm off to watch the Hunger Games now.
^ Damn you Ele. Wish I could see it again. /pouts
Had a good day today. ^_^ Need'a fix my mucked up sleeping pattern (waking up around midday, going to bed at like midnight or one in the morning) but everyone on WoW (World of Warcraft for any deprived people who have no clue what it means) gets on mostly between 8 and midnight. :/ /sigh 'Tis lame.
I play TOR, and the servers are down Tuesday nights just when I want to play :(
As I said earlier I saw the Hunger Games last night.
And it was certainly a good movie.
The ending was a bit sad though.
Edit: In much more recent news, my brother's girlfriend has decided we are having a feast this Easter.
A feast.
I can't eat as much as I could when I was younger!
So, in other words, we are going to have leftovers for days.
So, now that every one's day is more or less over: how was your Easter?
Mine was nice, but the definition of uneventful, we didn't even have that much chocolate... :smalltongue:
We used to get a lot more chocolate when were younger. We even had an Easter Egg hunt this year.
But, we all got older and our grandparents moved away from their house in Woodford because maintaining it was too much work for them.
But still, even a small amount of chocolate is good.
And yesterday, we had a big roast with all the expected vegetables.
It was delicious.
I spent my Easter feeling sick...
Oh well, can't be helped. I got together with my family on the Thursday, which was really nice, and lost my voice and started coughing my guts up the next morning. Obviously that means someone cursed me :smallwink:
I got lots of chocolate though, so I'm not sure whether to count this as a win or a loss?
Also, Hi, I am a person who lives in Australia :smalltongue:
Anyone in Brisbane know of a place I can stay for two knights? More, if you want to hang out on the weekend.
Nice and quiet and spent mostly at home - with a few moments of stress thanks to the fact that I volunteered to lead worship on Sunday and somehow got roped into leading worship on Good Friday as well - by myself. There is something uniquely terrifying about being the only one with a microphone - and knowing if you screw up the song everyone will hear it.
Ridiculous amount of chocolate though, thanks to a mother-in-law who tends to get a little excited over Easter. Seriously, my husband and I got a large chocolate Bilby each (which we ate before Easter ) a large egg each and a bag of mixed mini eggs. And that's not counting the eggs we bought each other...
Hey! I know you! you're exploring a haunted house with me.
How did I not know you're Australian before now? :smallconfused:
