Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
Arik raises an eyebrow at Harnel's question. "I really didn't have time to consider it. Such luxury was wasted on me as I was immediately hunted by wizards and da'hrs alike. I can hardly recall what it felt like having a heart beating." He looks at his own hand , moving his long fingers that seemed to have been skeletal looking even before he became a lich.
"It sounds so disgusting to me now, flesh I mean. How about you? You're turning into a 'demon' correct?"
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
Harnel nods, "Like I said, I haven't noticed anything except for disliking people. nothing really seems disgusting that's out of the ordinary for me just yet."
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
"Good for you." Arik says with a smile as the lich discreetly attempts to reach into Harnel's mind to read it now that he's mildly intoxicated,
If all goes well, the half-dragon won't even notice a thing.
"Didn't her fey friend also get 'corrupted' however? Sounds like it spreads rather easily. Don't you fear infecting Ces?"
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
"I do, which I why I insisted on sleeping in a different bed than her. She's... persistent, however, and believes I'm not a threat to her, so she insisted on sharing the bed with me. I, er, don't plan on doing anything with her though. It's dangerous enough as it is."
Arik will find quite a surprising amount of resistance to his mental intrusion. It's odd, because he doesn't seem like the type to have a lot of mental defenses, but Arik will have to get past his magic resistance as well as a surprisingly strong will to get into Harnel's mind. The inebriation has helped a bit, but he's nowhere near as drunk as a normal human would be after what he's consumed. However, the half-dragon doesn't appear to have noticed the intrusion, meaning Arik will be able to try again.
Harnel drinks a bit more.
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
"Of course." Arik replies without blinking. "I doubt she's planning to do anything with you either in your condition. She's too trusting though and stubborn, just like our mother." He shakes his head.
"But I think she have enough confidence in herself that she think she'd be able to handle you." He says with a slight smile. "Just stay away from her until everything is cured and you will be fine."
He will wait a while before attempting to invade the half-dragons mind once again however.
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
"I have been for the better part of a week now," Harnel says, "And you're definitely right; stubborn is a good word for her. Mind passing me more of the drink?" It seems Harnel may inadvertently help Arik's intrusion here. The brew is good, and it's been quite a while since he was honestly and truly drunk. Gods know he's looking forward to forgetting this whole demon business by looking to the bottom of a bottle.
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
Arik smiles and offers him yet another beer from the pouch, "Yes, her sisters are like that too you know? Tyra especially. Been a hard time growing up with these women as you can imagine." He chuckles softly.
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
Harnel smiles, drinking straight from the bottle if Arik gave it to him. It's difficult for him to get drunk, and he's making sure it works. "I can. I've dealt with more than my fair share of women who are too stubborn for their own good. Makes sense that I'd eventually marry one." Despite his complaining, he's smiling. Cessie has been supportive of him this entire time, and it's quite nice, even if it is dangerous.
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
Well, I'm not sure this is the greatest time to get drunk, but I'm sure Harnel can manage it. :smalltongue:
"Ah, women. What would we do without them I wonder? I'm not even technically alive anymore and I still don't think I really would manage without my sister." He admits.
"What about you?" He'll give Harnel another beer if he asks for one.
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
Harnel smiles, taking another beer when it's offered. This may be a good time to attempt to crack his mind again. "Without Cessie? Nah, I couldn't manage it, not anymore. I was in a pretty bad place before she decided I was worth her time."
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
"Really? Tell me about it." Arik asks as he once again attempts to read Harnel's mind.
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
"It gets... difficult. Dragons are reviled where I'm from, and Half-Dragons aren't much better. I spent my entire life before I met Cessie believing that I would never find someone to love. she came and pulled me out of that."
Harnel's mind is readable, but still surprisingly coherent. His history is an open book to Arik, and the lich will find that he hasn't lied about anything he's said so far. His plans for the futurre though? There's a half-formed idea for when he gets cured... starting a school, for swordsmanship. He imagines asking Wenomir for help as an instructor, but this is a distant thing in his mind.
The mind scan also reveals an abnormal amount of lust directed towards Cessie. It's taken him a lot of willpower not to curtain with her every time she shares the bed with him, and he's worried that it's getting stronger.
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
"Yes, that managed to surprise me as well, I had never seen that side of her before either. I knew Aegnor was part dragon but it wasn't exactly visible. You do seem to be making her happy though so I really don't have anything to add to that." He admits.
He continues searching the half-dragons mind though, looking deeper at possible demonic urges.
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
"She seems to have a thing for my scales, my tail, and my wings, mostly. When I spoke with her soul, she told me that she had a relationship with a full dragon in a past life. It must have carried over."
Something Harnel hasn't quite realized yet; His mind is breaking down. It's minimal now, but if this carries on for a year or two, he'd be little better off than an animal.
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
This causes the lich to blink, it was a bit too much information even for him. :smalltongue:
"I see." He states in a monotone voice. "I guess you should be happy she's coming home now. I'd advise you not to sleep together though, I'll find a cure personally." Harnel made Cessie happy and thus he needed to be saved.
He get's up from his chair and gives Harnel a final beer. "Don't tell her I gave you these though, you know how she feels about alcohol." He smiles while putting back the cans into the pouch.
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
Harnel grins, "Yeah, no need to worry about me in that respect. Just a bit of cutting loose here and there, right? Good luck. It means a lot to me and Cessie to have you helping look for a cure." He'll take the last beer can and drink it rather quickly, intending to finish it off before Arik leaves so that he can take the can with him.
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
"Yes. I know." Arik replies with a slight nod before turning to leave, leaving Harnel alone once again.
Good thing he got his books huh?
[Outside the Keep]
The mage leads Nadas and Dorota towards the keep (the description being in the first post in this thread) "We used to live in Watchtower itself but it really didn't give a lot of room to expand. It wasn't my idea of living." It was just one room!
"Besides, with the children on their way we really needed something larger." She explains as Cessie opens the door, letting them go inside.
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Outside the Keep]
Needless to say, Sizewell is following Dorota obediently, carrying the books, which are wrapped in paper. Can't let anything happen to them.
Oh. Congratulations, Dorota says to Cessie. Personally, she finds babies gross, disgusting and altogether repugnant, so she won't pursue the subject. There's certainly no shortage of space here.
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Outside the Keep]
"Isn't it sort of excessively big?" Nadas wonders if Cessie is expecting an entire litter or something for a place this size. He also has terrible tact sometimes. :smalltongue:
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Outside the Keep==> Inside the Keep]
The mage looks around as Nada's asks his question, "A bit perhaps, my husband insisted on building it without my insight so I guess you have to ask him. I suspect it's because his idea of a family includes a great deal more children then mine and wanted it this large 'just in case'. For me two is probably enough but in his culture they can have as many as twelve." That sounds pretty silly doesn't it?
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
Inside the Keep
"More people?"
Kirin blurts this out, forgetting tact for a moment.
"Oh, Cessie, Arik Mithar was here and talked with Harnel for a while. If there's nothing in particular you want right now, I will be going on a break to do some reading in the library."
This may be notable, since all of the breaks she took before have been snack breaks.
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Inside the Keep]
That... does sound like a lot. Granted, she knew families with this many kids. Usually poor ones, though, whereas Cessie and Harnel appear to be rich and noble-born. When Kirin enters, she gives a polite nod. Hello.
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Inside the Keep]
"Not unheard of." Nadas admits. His own family is fairly large by itself, though they aren't all packed into the same place. If they were, most of them would be dead by the end of a week.
"Greetings." Nadas gives a bow to Kirin.
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Inside the Keep]
"Ah, so he actually decided to check in on him? How nice." Cessie nods approvingly. "But you can take a pause of course Kirin, I'll check on Harnel later."
She then turns to her guests, "I'm afraid Harnel is ill at the moment otherwise I'm sure he had loved to greet you. He's quite proud of this place as far as I can tell. Arik is my brother by the way. It's rare that he comes to visit."
And as by cue Arik is descending down the stairs, still using his human illusion.
"Arik!" The sorceress exclaims. "I thought you'd be gone by now?"
He smiles to her, "I decided to stay around a bit. We rarely meet these days after all."
They hug each other as Arik reached the bottom of the stairs before turning to their guests. "So who are these people?"
"This is Nadas and that's Dorota, we meet at the library." She explains with a smile before her brother seem to whisper something to her.
"Oh... uh... excuse me a moment. I think I need to talk with my husband." She gives them a little wave before starting to make her way towards the guest rooms, leaving the two with her brother.
"So, what are you doing here?" He asks them.
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
When Cessie's knock comes to the door, Harnel breathes into his hand, checking his breath. Not good; he still smells like alcohol. Ah, well, not much to do about it at this point, is there?
He'll open the door a moment later, "Hey Cessie. What's up?"
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
'What's up'? :smallconfused:
"Hello Harnel..." She sniffs in the air. "What's that smell? Arik told me I probably need to talk to you over our current arrangements regarding your illness. He said it was important, it was a bit cryptic but he said you could explain."
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
Yes, what's up. A fairly standard greeting :smalltongue:
Harnel seems confused, "Uh, honestly, I'm not sure what he means. Did he say anything else?" he ignores the smell comment for now
It should be noted that Harnel isn't aware of his mind breaking down, if that's what Arik meant.
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
I think he meant more like the danger Harnel knew about, like how he barely could resist trying to curtain with the mage when they were in bed together.
And Cessie have never really heard 'what's up' much you know. :smalltongue:
"He claimed it was probably best if I stayed away from you. He said that over our link."
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
But, of course, Harnel doesn't want Cessie to know about how he's been struggling with not trying to curtain. On top of that, he doesn't know that Arik knows. Thus there's no reasonable conclusion for him to come to in regards to what he told Cessie.
"I have to admit to agreeing with him about staying away from me. Don't know exactly he's referring to when he says I have something to tell you though"
-
Re: [Nexus] Mithar Keep
[Guest Room]
I guess Arik overestimated Harenl's ability to take clues then. :smalltongue:
Cessie sigh, "So you really want me to stay out from this room until we collected the cure then?"
