I can't believe I forgot to extol the virtues of that human fighter and magnificent moustachios!
Seriously, he makes me smile for some reason.

But yeah, AMFES is pretty good about new designs. The kobolds look leagues better than the one in the original comic, and the ogre has a lot more character, too.
And score one for the ixitxachitl! Somebody remembers they exist. Seriously, they're such a random monster that it makes you wonder.

The reptiles from the first 2 strips you linked are called troglodytes in Origin, but then called lizardfolk in SoD. I just assumed they were re-retconned back into trogs, or "lizardfolk" in OOTS refers to all non-kobold reptilian humanoids.

Re: The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow
...And those troglodytes in turn look very little like the ones in the first wallpaper, which uses an art style closer to AMFES than the regular comic.

Actually, I think they're from Aztec mythology.

The name is Aztec-esque. The creature itself is just Gary Gygax being weird.

I hate to be "that guy" who suggests the same thing that a thousand other people have suggested, but I haven't seen anyone actually bring this up, so I figured maybe I was the first. They have these wooden crayon holders to give you a better grip on crayons. They are meant for lumber crayons, but will work perfectly well with normal crayons. If you haven't tried it already, it might make holding a crayon much easier. If you have, then sorry it didn't work.

That reminds me of the cutlery with giant handles that they make for people with arthritis. I always thought they were pretty amazing despite being so simple.

...hey, is the kobold wyrmpriest wearing its wings, unlike the dragonwroughts, or is it just me? Like, the wings look like they're strapped to him!

Re: The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow
I just wanted to drop in to mention I started a thread to collect and showcase all Kickstarter drawings:
The Order of the Stick Kickstarter Reward Collection
And related to that, I would like that everyone who has gotten a reward (like a Stick it to Me, or even a Signature Doodle for a singed book, or anything that is a drawing from the Kickstarter) and want to share it, just can drop a note in that thread (or PM/Email me), and I will include that, too! [Also I would really like if some more of the "Stick it to Me"-avatared people would give me a permission to post their Stick it to Me, since I don't want to do it without permission]

Re: The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow
New post on kickstarter:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...e/posts/682623
who else is also really excited that crayon drawings will finally get some love?:smallbiggrin::smallcool:
Oh, and a very cool snowman wallpaper, including the super-evil-snail in the background!!

Re: The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow
So I love that the heavily templated snail from SSaDT is lurking behind a rock in the new wallpaper.
-
Re: The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow
And a third calendar preview! Miko and Windstriker look badass.
-
Re: The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow
Aw, Belkar's poor feetsies!

He's obviously responsible for all of this and he can't help but bask in the glory of it all. :smallcool:

Re: The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow
This wallpaper is awesome!
Also: AW MA GAWD! The first wallpaper was in the woodlands, just like the first parts of the story. The second was at a sandy landscape - just like the currect story arc. The third wallpaper is set in the snowlands - SO THE NEXT BOOK WILL BE IN A SNOW LANDSCAPE!
That's totally new information!

Not necessarily.
There are two books left, per word of god, so the next one might deal with family stuff, like Ian. Also, the IFCC.
-
Re: The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow
I'm going to move purely calendar discussion to the calendar thread, since the calendar has nothing to do with the Kickstarter other than the plug in the latest update.

The fact that we know Kraagor/Serini's gate is smack dab in the middle of the lands of Ice, Snow, and Mountains wasn't a big clue?
And the first parts of the story was underground, remember?

Not new information.
We already knew it would be a snow landscape based on the crayon flashbacks about Kraagor's gate.

I think he just forgot to blue text the bit that was sarcasm/humor.

Doesn't the snail have a name?

The Snail.

Re: The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow
He gained the Elan's Relative template and is now known as Snale.
-
Re: The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow
Odd choice of template; I'd think it would reduce his CR, and he seemed primarily interested in raising his CR as high as possible.
-
Re: The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow
It also provides some degree of Plot Immunity, though. And synergizes nicely with Recurring Character, if you don't mind the Evil Opposite rider.

He was never given a formal name in the "Dragon Magazine" comics, but Belkar called the Snail "Escargot".

Re: The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow
I have the new winter wallpaper as my desktop, and I had been looking, wondering why Elan was doing nothing. Why isn't he at least singing "Shoot shoot shoot shoot... the hat off the evil snow golem!"? And then it hit me. He is doing something: He's succeeded at a Bardic Knowledge check and remembered the song "Frosty the Snowman". He's the only Order of the Stick member who understands how this threat works, and he's relaying that information to his comrades.
Just wanted to share. Even if it's not the right reasoning, it makes me happy.
