Yeah, I should have posted some more internal monologue while waiting ... I'm still here!
I'm still here, but IC my character knows nothing of aes sedai or shadowspawn, or at the very least, nothing more than your average commoner would.
Holice: That's fine, but then I'd prefer it if you posted showing what your character did feel, especially if he knows nothing about shadowspawn and suddenly human's are riding huge monsters.
Glad to see you guys haven't given up.
Does that mean you're out Tylerb7?
Hopefully once we have a party of about 5 the game will procede at a decent pace.
Nope, I just meant I'm glad that I'm not alone in wanting to continue this.
I have been, my last post included:
And while some of the other party has begun talking about the woman having foretelling and what not, no one directly addressed Berin.Quote:
Approaching the gathered woman and rather large Ogier, if he remembered right, he asks, "Anyone mind filling me in on what exactly just happened?", and turning to look at the old woman, "And what exactly she is talking about?"
I can artificially interject more thou, if you want, and assume someone answered my questions by listening in on others conversations.
Funny, cuz my character actually responded a few posts after you, here ... I think with the initial confusion of who was where, and when, our conversations have all started to blend. Hopefully this gives you something to respond to.
I apologize. I did see that post, but I was more hoping that the knowledgeable Aes Sedai/power-touched members would be more explicit. I was really just buying time until they fully informed everyone of what was going.
But either way...I'll just interject.
Oh, you wanted knowledgable. Sorry, I'm only good for conjecture and assumptions at this point
Marco to the Polo, y'all! I thought we were jumping back on the posting wagon, but things have slowed again.
I'd hate to see the time of death so soon ...
Yeah, come on. I know there might not be much you could say Stabin, but maybe suggest going to Falme? Get some momentum (rather than building the party around the Accepted, who's now an NPC)
Well, that was why I posted the comment about the direction Luran was headed. Sure, it wasn't forceful, but it was said where the Ogier and Berin were around to comment back. I've asked some questions in the past and the responses have been slow, so it starts to feel like I'm the annoying kid after awhile
"So have you heard anything about that?"
"What are these things?"
"Man, I was headed to Falme?"
"You gonna eat that?"
"I like turtles"
Post deleted and revamped to be more directive (and interactive) in nature. That's my bad for not being more proactive, Lan. I'll try not to be so passive ...
So Luran tries to be more directive, and everyone clams up? Yeesh ... sis this game on death's door, or just in a coma?
Judging from no response for 8 days, I venture to say dead but hopefully not forgotten. I am still up for continuing with the adventure whenever we can get more people.
The problem is whenever this is temporarily revived, people stop responding after a couple of days. I honestly don't have a solution for this, except for Deus ex Machina-ing the problem with the raken so that you can proceed with the adventure, but I'm not sure if that would actually help, since I'm not sure it's lack of ideas that is stopping people responding.
Yeah, I don't know how to fix that. I guess you could send a PM to everyone that you are pushing forward and ask for who's still available to play. If you get luke-warm responses, then maybe you can revisit the original recruiting thread and offer the opportunity for others to join.
From my perspective, I often wondered if people were subscribing to the thread, because it seemed like long periods where folks wouldn't be active. For myself, I can usually post during work hours (access there), but once I get home, it's limited ... which includes the weekends.
Two recommendations I will provide:
First, either invest in some mapping tools, or clearly describe where everyone is in relation to one another. I know I got lost in the posts a few times.
Second, in a board game like this, you need to synch the party / team up ASAP, or the players seem to get lost in the ambiguity of what's going on. In our particular instance, the initial melding of the party was so disconnected that I wonder if some folks lost interest w/o the classic party focus to latch on to. WoT provides you the perfect plot device to push us all together, since the Wheel weaves as the Wheel wills ...
Just some thoughts. For the record, I'm still on board!
Yeah, I think the problem here was that we weren't immediately forced into a cohesive party structure---which is great for in person games where you can spend an entire session slowly hashing out the group dynamic, but apparently has some drawbacks for this style of play.
For the record, I'm still very much interested. I would have no problem with you invoking DM-fiat to get everything (back?) on track.
So given that, Lan, whaddya say? How do you want to proceed?
Anyone else out there still interested?
I actually wonder if we can use the Rakken to back-track to the other guys ... but I'll wait for some folks to jump back in first :)
Maybe by 2013 we'll get to Falme!
Seriously though, we're not doing as bad as I thought. A lot of the disconnected or unmotivated (to join the party characters) are probably NPCs at this point, and most of the rest of us have the clear short-term goal of dealing with the raken and the long-term goal of travelling to Falme.
I think the biggest issue now is that we need someone to take charge, and I for one was expecting that to be our Initiate--but obviously that plan hit a bit of a snag.
That's what I wanted to know: Do you guys want a female channeller? One of you could either swap your character for one Anya (changing her sheet to fit your interests, in fact Anya could have been a cover name if you want a different name as well- or replace Leilanna or Veyl).
Or I could DMPC Anya, though I'm not as wild about this idea.
Or you could go with her and discover that she quickly meets an unfortunate end.
Your choice!
I'm still about :)
Sorry, I'd been checking this daily and then it seems that I stopped doing so about fourty seconds before people starting posting again ><
Leilanna has no real clue what to do with the Raken, I'm thinking one of the following:
1) Release it and hope it doesn't attack anyone
2) One of the woodman-y people figures out how to calm it
3) Someone kills it
3a) Someone eats it
And after that... I have a funny feeling that "Get the hell out of dodge" is going to be the best method, as the party bolts from the scene of carnage, barely pausing to pick up luggage...
*Whew*, so I won't be testing the Raken's disposition by putting my head in its mouth then :)
To be fair, that really would be the most informative test.
I am more than willing to try and play an aes sedai if you guys would prefer it over the archer. Just say the word and i will do it.
While I personally think an Aes Sedai is probably the most thematically appropriate character for a Wheel of Time game, I wouldn't want to push anyone into playing a character they didn't want to. I think RPGs are the most fun when everyone has the sort of character they really want; but if you would prefer to play an Initiate, then that's a different story.
