I have a feeling Zii is going to bust into the room and yell at Gary, effectively ruining his current activity and making him feel bad for no good reason.
I doubt anyone is surprised by this.
It's good to see Kiley again. Wonder if both of them are seeing Gary in bed?
I wonder how Kiley has changed in the time we haven't seen her.
Kiley, yay.
I'm actually interested in seeing how Yuki and Kiley get along now, and how Kileys view on things are at the moment.
This was the first thing that I assumed - they're in bed together BECAUSE they both see Gary, so neither minds if they accidentally call out the wrong name.
....Or they just met in the waiting room and randomly hit it off. It's frightening how easily my mind turns right to the most kinky reason for anything, with this comic. :smalleek:
Ah, I see Kiley's treating Matt's sexual insecurity issues with Pelvic Massage Therapy.
I'm not sure if it's that Matt is banging everything with a sex drive in Montreal that's interested in him or if there are just a dozen or so sexually active people in Montreal...
Why the hell would they end up together?
Plot twist: Mat is actually one of a set of identical triplets/quadruplets/quintuplets. They divide up Montreal's population between them in an attempt to bring about the Boneularity.
It's not a great leap. Remember after Kiley left Gary she went to see her boss or an actual psychiatrist? After her session finished, she walked past Matt in the waiting room. It's not like she objects to the idea of casual sex and after the Didi Nightmare, a quiet, reserved girl would probably be a welcome relief.
I just hope that, since Kiley was one of the only characters I liked in this comic (Not perfect, I mean there was that whole sleeping with her client's love interest thing, but in general human and decent), that she hasn't been horribly changed now, either from what's happened behind the scenes or because she's been absent so long that the writers have forgotten how to properly write her.
Oh, Kiley, Kiley. :smallsigh: I hope you used protection. Matt just strikes me as the epitome of the kind of guys I know IRL who're essentially a walking carrier for (potential) STDs.
She still seems like the most "normal" person in the Ma3 world though. Then again, Matt is "normal" as far as being the kind of guy that he is....
Well, we can remove Kiley from the list of sane characters apparently (even though it's just mild halluzinations)
So... I think we had a short-living thread about the various other Giz comics... As I'm occassionaly following them I was wondering if anyone else was and if we either could discuss them here or start a new thread for it or if it's just not worth it.
Those other comics aren't updated as often as Ma3 by far, right? I mean, once a week for MC/DC/EC, and once per Ma3 update for SDB now? Might as well put those here, I guess.
At any rate, I think Kiley is simply not used to being viewed as desireable. The hallucination I would ascribe to Gary and Matt looking much alike, as the comparison has been drawn before.
As for SDB... I think Dillon is forgetting about the existence of bisexual people.
Or just not caring. To Dillon, it's "can I bang him", yes/no. Who or what they bang when he's not there isn't really a factor, so bisexual and gay are the same thing for his purposes.
Naturally, this results in hilarity when the target does turn out to be bi, and accepts Amber's come-ons instead...
Interesting quirk; Matt has just told Kiley that he likes her face.... Yet we all know that Matt has the same hallucinations as her and may well be seeing Gary's face too.
Has Matt accepted his desires? Or are we going to see it sprung on him mid-coitus again?
Or both? :smalltongue:
I think the others update twice a week or so? D/D? Never paid that much attention, I just check once in a blue moon to catch up and once in a while there's something worth to comment on.
Yet there is the problem of the guy reacting to Amber not saying anything about him being hetero or bi. So if he does react he could still be Dillon's target audience (and if he doesn't, he might not because he just doesn't react to Amber (but who wouldn't :smalltongue:)
Oh god, Kiley imagining making out with Gary while making out with Matt imagining making out with Gary... Would that e considered a twincest fantasy?
Oh, look at that. Kiley (who was the one who dumped Gary, I might add) is still so infatuated with him that she sees his face in hallucinations. Gary, who up until Kiley has had carnal knowledge of exactly no one, has shown no hints of thinking about her at all.
It's almost like Kiley was the one who was most likely to fall in love from their spontaneous coupling, and not the one who had just had his first lay ever. Because, y'know, she's a girl. Isn't. That. Cute? :smallfurious:
Wow, you're really putting that off to sexism? I've never heard a girl was more likely to fall in love after spontaneous sex (okay, I did but I heard the opposite just as often) And putting aside the obvious answer - it's pretty random in fiction who falls for whom at any given point - Gary has spent his time surrounded by girls trying to get in his pants and he was in a kind of relationship with Yuki with... whatever feelings he has for her. We don't know exactly what Kiley did but we know the last time she had much fun with Gary and had a hard time separating from him.
I'm not saying she had to fall for him but... I really don't see why you would get furious over it.
It's certainly sexist. Earlier, I've said that I'm intrigued by how the comic depicts Gary; it certainly breaks with the stereotype of the male who has a lot of women. Normally, such a man is confident and attractive. Here, he is passed around almost like a literal toy. The perspective of objectifying the man in such a relationship is a very interesting one, and I like it.
In the long run, however, the "harem genre" is sexist by default. The basic premise is that all the girls want this one guy. Once we leave the interesting experiment and go back into the genre standard, which we have to if we want Gary to remain as a credible point of competition for the girls, you can see where we end up. The woman is dependant on the man, she can't forget about him. The man is busy burying his head between assorted thighs. We don't know if Kiley has seen other men since then, but let me take a wild and guess and say no. Classic objectification.
So while the comic is not actually as bad as it could be on the whole, I won't hesitate to call out bull**** when I see it. And yes, I will get furious about it. I do think it matters. Kiley could have been something other than this. Something with more originality, who stood for something else rather than repeating the same old patriarchal perspectives and stereotypes. And, I mean, she might still be, given how the comic treats her, so I guess we'll have to see.
This is all, of course, separate from how I enjoy the intrigue of the comic. From that perspective, I'm very happy about Kiley's return.
Be fair, Gary is a spineless idiot, and kiley iirc, was pretty straight forward when she said, "This isnt going to happen again, stay with yuki, goodbye" Its not like she was around for him to fixate on. She showed up, they had a whacky adventure, boned, and she left, never to be heard from again. Meanwhile gary is dealing with his girlfriend, "She Who Has A Bucket Load Of Issues" as well as trying to handle all these gorgeous women who are either directly trying to sleep with him, dropping hints he generally misses, or otherwise up to his eyeballs in confusion and frustration.
And while hallucinating a one night stands face isnt exactly healthy, I could understand being fixated on the person who gave you more physical pleasure than you ever thought possible to experience. If we accept the power of the swirly on how it is written to work, gary had a nice but fast first time, while kiley had her world shattered with pleasure. If the situation was reversed and it was gary who had his world rocked in ways that only happen in the fevered imaginations of comic writers and he was hallucinating, i wouldnt ascribe sexist overtones to it. The gender is meaningless in this issue.
Not to mention that Kiley seems to be pining for him...she hardly stopped herself with Matt. While she seems to have some lingering effects from the swirly, she hasn't let it stop her from enjoying herself sexually.
Personally, I wonder if her hallucinations aren't as much a byproduct of her guilt over Yuki and her phychiatrist's desire to do right by her patient more than anything.
Plus, this effect seems to be ad strong with Matt as it is with Kiley.
Just my thoughts.
Okay, the last SDB made me laugh a lot.
Taking bets that Thursday's comic will include a frame of Gary boning Gary.
Eventually, it will turn out that Gary - who exerts no real force upon the world in which he lives - never really existed in the first place, and that everyone in the comic is both crazy and projecting their desires into creating an imaginary boyfriend.
Menage a 3, paragon of postmodernism.
