I'm pretty sure this is from an adaptation of that Clive Barker story where the people in a town form themselves into giants by lashing themselves together.

Yup, Popolak I think is what it is. Basically the population of two towns in Yugoslavia combine to form to flesh colossi and traipse about the countryside. One falls into a ravine and kills thirty seven thousand of it's...participants, and Popolak goes insane from the psychic backlash.
