If he's the kung fu grandmaster on the top of a mountain, he rolls 10 dice. Plus equipment modifiers and situational bonus; an axe would be +2 or +3 dice. Cruddy orc armour would give you 1 armour point.
So easy.
If it's a PC, you put dots into strength and not intelligence. Buy some dots in weaponry. I'm pretty sure there are medieval WoD supplements out there, but everything you need is quite literally in the core rulebook.

Alternatively, if you just want this as an introduction to Creative Thaumaturgy, just have them play D&D characters except with access to the Mage magic system. Let them perform one magical action and one physical system a round. Just get them used to throwing around cool environmental effects with dramatic consequences. That actually seems like a good way to manage a transition.
Buying the books (Core WoD, Core Mage and Seers) is a necessity if you want to run a game.
This is going to be as quick and dirty as quick and dirty solutions get, but for D&D you might want to give them and your NPCs one of the Exalted defensive specials as a 1/encounter power (not necessarily a perfect defense, but something that can effectively mitigate an attack). That way neither the players nor the NPCs get instantly obliterated in the first round of combat.

A cheap hobby would be most sports besides golf unless you like to buy $200+ shoes for some reason. RPGs are a medium cost hobby, particularly if you end up DMing and have an extensive library of hardcovers. Boating certainly qualifies as an expensive hobby.

It's all about comparatives.
The Reapers are a crippling threat to the ME unverse, but in comparison to the Aotrs, they are completely out-classed.
Jack O'Neill is an awesome soldier, but he'd be just out of his league against Son Goku.
Most "Badass Normals" merely display a higher level of capability than the people they are immediately associated with, which in roleplaying terms would equate to simply being higher level (or that their superpowered compariots are under-optimised. Superman, for instance, could be arguably said to be functionally unoptimised on account of his own preferences not to utilise the full breadth of his potential abilites.) If you have an individual that actually has the same level of skill or work ethic (or resources1), then, as they say, no duh, the one with the additional powers will win. (If Sasuke Uchiha had Rock Lee's personality, he'd basically be completely unstoppable (And Naruto would be an even more hilariously awesome series).) Real (un)life is not, in fact, balanced so that the people with superpowers are always counterbalanced with not trying as hard as the non-superpowered ones. Real (un)life is also not balanced like a game (video or tabletop) or a story in which the protagonist only faces enemies in their own rough order of magnitude.
The assertation that an unaugmented human (i.e. that does not have access to spiral power or some such) is capable of dealing with situations through sheer "manliness" (a concept which I find inherently distasteful to start with) is a microscopically more refined version of the one that said "courage alone can replace tactics, planning and overwhelming firepower" prevalent up to the early 20th century in many military forces, and which inevitably resulted in catastrophic casualties.
Badasserymorale/determination is important, yes, but it is not a substitute for flat-out superior capabilities, no matter how much people may wish it otherwise.

1For the record, Batman is not, despite the press, a "normal" by any stretch of the imagination. He's a super-rich human paragon at the top, if not slightly above, maximum human capability in all areas. It is impossible for him to be a master of all the world's martial arts (or whatever) and the world's greatest detective and a super-scientist and still be what qualifies as "normal" human by any definition.

Out of interest (and from the title) what is people's personal Fanon?
For example, I have in mine that bearing the Elements will, eventually, turn the Mane Six into alicorns themselves (which was inspired by one fic that had them, essentially, being immortal).

Of course, Superpowers give a kinda big pragmatic advantage, but they still have counters, like everything in Real (Un)Life has counters, the thing is just finding them
For example, Kryptonite to Superman, EMP/high altitude Nuke explosions to robots, electronics and shields; Friendship to hate, Chaff/Flares and speed to missiles, fire to trees, electricity to water, A-10s to anything , the trick is finding it.
And the stuff they did in 20th century was not "manliness" was just another dumb "honor code" used in the epoch, like "herpderp soldiers must always wear blue in grass and be seen, no camos camos are for little girlies durrrrr", that got the french roflpwned in a war with Prusia. Nowadays "manliness" is mostly like what Audie Murphy and Simo Häyhä did :smallwink:
But anyways, Being a Badass Normal of the same strength as the dude with superpowers means you're stronger, cuz when you get them.....
