Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
Oh my gosh, I hadn't even considered that Marnath! Who is that guy? I need author clarification here.
-
Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
Probably Annie's dad. He probably came out of hiding for the sole purpose of this unnecessary and highly questionable cameo.
James who?

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
Pay no attention to the man behind the Carver.

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
The headmaster looks something other than bored! This is an amazing development. Wonder if Coyote intentionally outmaneuvered/trolled him, or did that completely at a whim. Probably both, knowing Coyote.

Who is that man in the final panel with Annie? :smalltongue:
I presumed it was Jimmie, since he knows about Ysengrin going bonkers.

Tom always left notes at the bottom of the page whenever Eglamore would show up. "The man is Eglamore." for example. I guess some people were confused, and it just became an in-joke after that.

Oh, yeah, and "that girl isn't Jones either."

Oooooohhhh, that's a pretty picture! O.O
So she's hiding her blinker stone in her hair band these days.

It clearly goes blink while she'll pulling out her hair thing, it was probably back in her room.

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
Antimony's first official act as Forest Medium: "LBoB, get out of that g-d chair and show some respect for your guests, or I will burn it out from under you." :smallfurious:

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
Maybe Annie is setting up some sort of code for Might Eyebrows Lad and Big Nose Girl, you know, in order to make things easier.
Hair On Fire= Forest Medium
Hair Not On Fire= Your Friend Annie.

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
She should have talked to Kat first. :smallannoyed:

Problem: Ysengrim is too unstable for Annie to trust him as a bodyguard. Eglamore is an employee of the Court, and therefore cannot bodyguard the Forest's Medium.
Solution: Kat builds a robot.
-
Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
Rey seems like a more obvious solution to that problem.

That would go swimmingly with the Forest. I cannot imagine a single one of it's denizens would not being a-ok with that. :smallamused:

She will construct a robotic protecting device which will provide her with safety in the Forest!

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
Or just a companion bot that Kat can speak through.
-
Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
I thought at first Annie WAS moving to the Forest! Then I remembered: She and Kat are moving in together. Kat would be MUCH sadder if it were the former case.
I see Rey doesn't get to keep the action figures in his room...

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
Well, that's settled. We know now that she has at least three people she can rely on in the Forest - Jones, Smitty and George. I'd say Ysengrin too, but given what happened last chapter and what we found out about his and Coyote's relationship, I don't think I would say she can rely on him.
-
Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
Smitty is awesome. That one comic with the pigeon always makes me crack up so much. And he's smart, from what I've seen these last few strips.

Renard too. Which brings the total up to 4.5 sources of protection - Jones, Smitty, George, Renard, and Ysengrin.

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
Pity the story skipped from "hair on fire" directly to Kat and Annie in the room, I wanted to see the headmaster's reaction to Coyote's offer and for Annie's reply.
Will Annie even be allowed to live in the court now that she is officially a representative of the forest?
Both sides can now (rightfully) demand that Annie will live in the forest instead of in the court.
-
Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
Oh you know, it's GC, we never see exactly what we want to see. :smalltongue:
Kat knows the most important step to moving into a new room. BOOF!

Keep in mind Annie's still a minor and the Court In Loco Parentis. Letting her stay in the Forest for a summer with periodic visits from Jones is one thing; throwing her in there to live is another. Besides, if the Court is not stupid, they'll want Annie where they can keep her under observation every single second. She's a known disruptive element and only watching her carefully might give warning of what sort of disaster she's going to cause next. There's also the fact that, to do her job, she'll have to consult with Coyote, and maybe will talk over what she finds out with Kat. There's a chance the Court could learn some things they wouldn't otherwise know through eavesdropping...

Not really, the fact that she's a minor child and the Court has her guardianship and she's only an honorary forest citizen suggests how things will play out.
I'm mostly curious where you're getting the idea that Coyote has a right to demand she live in the forest and be in the right at all, really. I certainly don't see how it could seem a good idea to him, since it'd mostly just annoy Annie, so unless his plan was to get her to defy him, I don't really see an angle for him.

He's always seemed pretty sharp to me in all of his portrayals, I must admit.
