Mate, you're a $%#$ing Cleric. Cleric spells don't have spell failure. That's why the Cleric list is so bland and functional.
It's called Arcane Spell Failure because it applies to Arcane spells. Not Divine spells.

I don't think spell failure percentage effects Divine magic, only Arcane.
@Wordplay: As Marlowe and Machuchang have said, ASF only applies to Arcane spells, so Wizards, Sorcerers, Bards and the like. Divine casters don't have to worry about it.
 Well, I said it was a noobish question. Good to know.
Okay guys, I have some good news and some bad news.
First, the bad news.
I was reading through my 4th ed rules books last night (and now actually remember why I do NOT like that system) because I couldn't sleep and I came across the Ability (stat) progression table which I actually like the look of.
Now, the good news.
You guys get to use it (since you haven't yet reached a level where your stats have increased.
The way 4th ed does it, for those who haven't played 4th ed or read the rules, is like this:
Level 4: +1 to two stats.
Level 8: +1 to two stats.
Level 12: +1 to ALL stats.
Level 16: +1 to two stats.
Level 20: +1 to two stats.
So there, that's the good news and the... well... not bad news for you guys, but now I have to go wash my brain in bleach to try and rid myself of the horror that is 4th ed :smalleek:.
@Malak'ai: Haha! That's one of the great things about the universe: inspiration can be found anywhere. Even in 4ed. I am quite pleased with this shift too. Eleanora could seriously use some help stat-wise. Knights can be pretty MAD, and I'm awfully fond of bonuses. :smallwink:
After spending 7 hours reading through the 4th ed rule books, the stat progression was the ONLY thing I actually liked!
Yeah, okay, they had some good ideas with the at will/encounter/daily abilities to try and give different options to what you could do in combat, but, IMO, they screwed it up.
After a couple of games all the classes start to feel the same. :smalltongue:
Well when my group tried it out, before Marlowe joined, we played 2 or 3 sessions, and in those sessions we almost had TPK's in EVERY combat we (were forced) to engage in.
The only reason we didn't in one was because my Half-Elf Warlock used his daily ability and did like 2d6 damage to the enemy caster and knocked him prone.
The Fighter, Warlord and the Ranger (I think) couldn't even deal with 6 minions!!!
EVERY COMBAT! Yikes!
We're you all playing as one role? Or did you not have anyone from a leader class?
I would love to give 4ed a try at some point but the realism and "magic" of the world just ruins it for me more than the mechanics.
The powers just make me shiver:
"Wizard Casts Meteor Strike: 4d6 damage ongoing 10 fire"
"Fighter uses Waterfall Slam: 4d6 damage chance to knock prone"
Linear fighter/Quadratic Wizard was not imbalance... it was realistic, you can't swing a sword with the same power as a meteorite or fireball used by someone who alters the universe.
It can't be too bad, but it certainly has it's faults (most of the system)... the Warlock was the future for D&D I guess, and the at-will abilities worked, because you didn't have a large magority to choose from.
The Dragonborn Warlord was the 'Leader' class, my Warlock and Ranger (Strikers?) and the Gnome Fighter was supposed to be something, but failed dramatically at it (Marlowe, guess who the Fighter was :smalltongue:)
Then again, the guy running the game doesn't know how to work out CR's of enemies (Once again Marlowe, guess who was DM'ing).
So, um... Who's Daranad?
Arranis had control of him last I knew... Might be time for a change though.
Want me to choose randomly?
Who hasn't gone yet? I'll take him if no one else would rather play him.
Also, initiative?
If I remember rightly, Wordplay and Arranis are the only ones who have taken turns with him, but then again, it's been so long since he's said anything I tend to forget.
So if you haven't had a turn already, feel free.
@Malak'ai: I was posting whilst you posted. Err, don't know if you want it to stand, or if I should delete that and redo.
Also, roughly how far away are these guys?
@Wordplay: No, that's fine . Kind of figured that would have happened out of combat as I hadn't made the edit asking for initiative rolls. Had to see how the attacks turned out :smalltongue:.
@Arranis: No cookie for you then :smalltongue:.
@Arranis: Would you like Daranad, or should I take over?
Go ahead if you want.
@Arranis: Alrighty. Thank you kindly.
Just have to quickly say that as of 12.24 on Sept 7th (NZ time) ALL of us are online at the same time :smalltongue:.
@Malak'ai: I KNOW RIGHT? I'M SO EXCITED!
Happy dance!
Since we're all here, I'll project a movie onto a wall for the occasion. Courtesy of Paragnome Pictures.
You realize that is what I'm going to expect you to do sometime during the adventure :smalltongue:.
That'll be classy. :smalltongue:
Paragnome pictures is such a great freaking name.
Where do the Halfloblins fall in initiative?
