So, since there's a mild chance that I will actually get my licence sometime before that (the 4th, actually) if I do get it, I plan on showing up.
The drive from Cape Cod will be interesting, but at least I'll be able to see my family.

With regards to the RDI drinking game, would Troll Swill be Zeb's best or worst homebrew?
Well, all of his homebrew is good.
Perhaps instead of 'best or worst', I should say 'best or least good'?
The problem with that is that what's better than another is purely subjective and Hippie, Indurain, Haruki, and I might all have a different opinion about what's best.
As for which will be Troll Swill, that actually hasn't been determined yet.
Vodka straight is obviously the best.
A man after my own heart. And they have the strangest commercials...
Flight and hotel are booked. Unfortunately, I will not be able to bring a costume (it would require another bag). Also unfortunately, the most economical flight has me landing at (and departing from) Washington National. Flight lands at about 9:30 Friday morning, so at least the interruption to the festivities should be limited for whoever decides they don't mind coming out to find me.
Unfortunately, this is a bit too early for me. I'm not off work till 5PM, but I otherwise don't mind as I'm only a short metro ride away. Along that note: the best part about DCA is the metro rail connection...it should make coordinating a ride about 3x easier.
If there is anyone flying into the Reagan, Washington National, or DCA at a later time on Friday or any time on Saturday I can definitely lend a ride.
You guys are more than welcome to come straight here and hang until it's time to check in to the hotel! (and then come back, of course!)
Totally unrelated, Zeb I finally (and surprisenly 'finally' happens when I've had all of a couple hours sleep) deciphered what you put down under location. :D
It's been like a puzzle I always see and wonder what you'd meant. I feel so, relieved? I guess, for solving it finally. That or I could just be really really tired.
Lol Kyrian, Google is your friend. :smalltongue:
So today I drove my truck for the first time since the accident. I probably shouldn't drive again real soon, because my shoulder still is painful and has limited motion, but I am pretty certain that by the time October rolls around it should be good enough for a drive to B-more. So please move me from "maybe" to "definite".
Now, Hippie, is it a secret what home brew delights you have in store for us? :smalltongue: Or will you be willing to at least let us know what styles of beer you are bringing? I ask because I'd like to contribute to the Beer Game Supply, and since the goal is diversity and quality, I want to be sure I don't bring, say, Sam Smith oatmeal Stout, if you've already made a big ol' keg of stout.
I also plan to bring some baked goods. I'll decide what as the time gets closer ... but I hope to make some bread. I'm willing to consider requests, particularly from those travelling from out of town.
Zeb and Alarra, thanks for doing this! I'm very excited to meet everyone!

Room is booked at La Quinta. Now comes the waiting.
*tries not to drool* Because I've been taking pain meds, I've been deprived of beer. This sounds *so* good right now! Scotch ales are usually strong ... can't wait to see what a whiskey scotch ale is like!
Is the strawberry blonde simply a reddish pale beer, or does it have actual fruit in it? I ask because one of the beers I am considering as part of my contribution is a lambic.
.
It has strawberry flavoring in it but is a faaaar cry from a lambic. It's more or less a light beer with a hint of strawberry (mostly in scent more than taste), where as I would call a lambic "fruit with just a hint of beer." :smalltongue:
I don't usually drink much in the way of beer and certainly couldn't tell you the difference between an ale, a stout and a lager. Hopefully this trip will fill in a few gaps in my knowledge.
@Monkey: It's good to hear your shoulder's on the mend but please don't overdo it!
Mischief managed. :smallamused:
I will try ALL the beer! And I will bring air cookies!
Current RDI - Beer University interest
Okay, so looking at current numbers we can completely fill out one 12 person session or we can split into two six person sessions. I'm not sure which would be the better way to do this. If we get more, we'll definitely split it up.SpoilerZeb

Let me know if you've expressed interest but I haven't added your name to the list.
I'd like to join in if there's space.
Don't count me out ;)
I'd love to join in, but I'm not very knowledgeable about beer. If someone would recommend something I could pick some up...I just don't want to offend any avid beer drinkers with my natural instinct toward certain brands of less repute.
You don't have to know anything about beer, nor do you have to contribute to play.
If we're getting that many, I'd suggest splitting it up. Games with more than 6 people can get hectic and uninteresting since it can be hard to know what's going on on the other side of the table. Also, some one will pretty much always go out before their second or third turn with that many people and being eliminated that quick in a game that could last an hour is no fun for anyone.
So I guess I'll bring mine.
Then, frankly, you're the target audience. That's why he's calling it Beer University, so that people who want to know more can learn something that they might not have known before and get guided tour to a broader experience. :smallcool:
I think you're right. Also, I'd forgotten to add a couple of friends that aren't on the forum who are interested also. Thanks!
Also, as Alarra stated, contributions are not necessary but they are appreciated. Once we get things nailed down a little better, we'll probably come up with a way for people to contribute if they want, be it by bringing something on our list or by chipping in to the pot to offset expenses (which are still being determined at this time).
