Eleanora and Mailali:
SpoilerAs you take your eyes off the oncoming enemy for a moment you notice what appears to be a large heat haze about 600' from you. Figures start to move out of the haze. You count 10 of them. 5 armed with swords, axes and assorted clubs, 4 with crossbows and the final one, smaller of stature as the rest seems to only be wearing a loin cloth.
As they move fully out of the blurring of the air, one raises what looks to be some sort of horn and blowing a series of loud blasts.
Verossa and Raif:
SpoilerOut of the relative quite you hear a series of horn blasts from behind you. The noise seems to quite close and startles Shadowlord, making him whinny and stamp his hooves.
'What's that noise?'
Raif returns his Alchemist's Fire to his pack and turns to look for the source of the sounds. Grimacing slightly, Raif casts a Detect Magic and feels his head throb.
The ephemeral isn't meant to be distorted so much in so little time.

Raif:
SpoilerYou see nothing magical in the 60' range of the Detect Magic that you don't already know about.
As your eyes land on the new group, you make out 10 figures. They appear to be Orc's, and they seem to be almost as surprised to see you as you are at seeing them.
Verossa turns, snapping her teeth. "Plans change. We don't wait around with unknown trumpets at our back. Unless somebody knows what's going on more than I do, we are leaving. Ser Dame?"
Eleanora nodded, her lips a thin, grim line.
"Agreed. We make haste. Now."
Standing back Drayner approaches Raif and Elanora "What's going on? Are we riding out? Do you think the horses can handle it?"
Drayner will proceed to follow everyone's lead and get up onto his horse (unless someone argues leaving)
Because Halabur was fiddling with his hat, he had not seen the new developments. He is suddenly brought to attention by the talk of leaving. "Wait... What happened? Have they brought in some reinforcements?"
"Horns behind us. Close. No idea what they are; but we need to not be betwixt them and a known enemy. Mount your little filly" She gets astride Fighter. "Hans, get up. Fingers, Thumbs, get a ride. I'd suggest heading straight south if nobody's got a better idea, which I'd be delighted to hear".
"That seems to be the case. So, Ladies, gentlemen, are we leaving or do we confront them all at once?"
Raif stows his mace and swings himself into the saddle, then takes a moment to lend Rochenion a hand.
'We're leaving - fast. Caught between two groups some of us would certainly perish, if not all'.
Raif turns Filofax to the South, hopefully perpendicular to the two groups.
'We need cover, and somewhere to rest. Is it possible?'
"Yes! By all means lets make haste! But where to?"
'It's more the 'from' which concerns me... Shall we put some distance between us and see if we cannot lose some of our pursuers?'
As you all mount up ready to make you break you all hear another blast of the horns. When you look towards where the new group appeared, all but the the scrawny looking figure seem to have closed almost half the distance between you.
The group of enemies that had been chasing you seem to have dropped right off, all down on hands and knees, gasping for breath.
"Right, lads, ladettes, same plan as before. Wear 'em out, string 'em out, then turn and tear them a new orifice while violating them in their current one. Just like Ser Dame says."
'I fear they have magical support. I think we'd best flee until they are weary'.
Eleanora raised an eyebrow.
"I do not recall ever saying that. But I agree," The dame said, as she sheathed her bow. In one fluid motion, she quickly remounted her horse. "Who's in point?"
Halabur's eyebrows raise at the mention of magical support. "Come to think of it, it is a bit strange that they should pop out of nowhere like that..."

Halabur:
SpoilerWithout having actually seen it yourself you can only make an educated guess. The 'heat haze' sounds similar to what you've heard about some of the more powerful illusions forming. But this is only as guess.
If I were to venture a guess, I'd say there's a shaman out there with a basic grasp over illusions. I'd imagine it'd be the fellow in the loincloth. I'd personally like to get a chance at him--show him not to tread on my domain."
'If you would kindly take point m'Lady...
An illusionist? Hmm, I hope we are not being driven into a new danger by phantasms'.
Raif steers Filofax southwards and gently kicks him on, bringing him up to a gallop.
The dame nodded, and kicked her heels into Valor's sides rides, aiming south.
As you start your retreat south you suddenly feel a b urst of intense heat as flames erupt all around Raif with a deafening roar.
