You have my sympathies, bro.
Ouch! Are you going to continue with boxed pokemon?
Thanks :smallfrown:
No, I decided to not use boxed pokemon during this run. What I'm going to do is acknowledge that I failed my nuzlocke, then evolve my Pupitar and go beat red so I can get the starters I need for my white pokedex.
Just defeated Whitney, my team now as follows:
Fangs (Croconaw) Lv19
Apparition (Gastly) Lv19
Stoneface (Geodude) Lv20
Inertia (Slowpoke) Lv20
Norvegicus (Raticate) Lv20
Managed to get through Whitney without anyone fainting, though I expended a ton of potions keeping my slowpoke alive while it walled her Miltank (a couple of shots of curse did wonders for my defence, and Yawns kept Rollout from building to threatening power levels.
Have a pair of same gender pokemon lurking in the day-care levelling up- specifically my Oddish, Salad; and my Zubat, Vlad.
Well, it was a struggle even then, particularly since Inertia was vulnerable to Attract...
My team is now at Lv20-21 and I've added my Oddish (now a Gloom) into the main party (especially since I got a leaf stone via phonecall to evolve it with).
Inertia Lv20 (slowpoke)
Apparition Lv20 (gastly)
Stoneface Lv20 (geodude)
Norvegicus Lv21 (raticate)
Salad Lv21 (gloom)
Fangs Lv21 (croconaw)
So... my laptop is being pretty Slowpoke right now, and since my phone can't record battles my challenge videos are going to be on hold until I can fix this.
Getting the Leaf Stone is quite a stroke of luck. Your team looks relatively balanced, too.
I've finally reached a point in my pokedex where I literally cannot proceed without a large amount of effort expended. Darn :smallannoyed:
I only have 37 left to go, too XD
Does anyone have any of these pokemon for trade?
Spoiler
Chikorita
Snubull
Phanphy
Electrike
Skitty
Trapinch
Castform
Kecleon
Kyogre
Rayquaza
Deoxys
Glameow
Stunky
Spiritomb
Skorupi
Manaphy
I may end up just replaying ruby at this point...
What about emerald, if you can complete the Hoenn pokedex you can get a johto starter.
I know your pain. I'm actually missing very few pokemon, like less than you. XD Most of the ones I'm missing are ones that are irritating to get (I can't remember the name, looks like an easter island head), or unavailable to me with my current selection of games.
Yeah, it's just annoying at this point. I have Ruby, Platinum, Soul Silver, and White, so I can get all of them except Glameow/Purugly, Stunky/Skuntank, Deoxys, Kyogre, and Manaphy. The rest are just time-consuming.
Also, the easter island-head is Nosepass. He's only easily gotten in Platinum.
Well, quick update following the Ecruteak city gym:
Team:
Inertia (slowpoke) Lv25
Stoneface (graveler) Lv25
Salad (gloom) Lv25
Fangs (croconaw) Lv26
Norvegicus (raticate) Lv26
In Memoriam:
Chime (Bellsprout) Lv4
Pullover (Flaaffy) Lv15
Apparition (Haunter) Lv25
Unfortunately, I guessed that having brought Gengar in, Morty would take a turn to throw either Mean Look or Hypnosis at me, giving me a chance to get in a quick hit with Shadow Punch- instead, he came at me with Shadowball and took me out from full health in a single turn. Luckily Norvegicus was waiting in the wings. Bit of a shame that I'd taught Haunter Thunderbolt already...
Raticate can actually sweep Morty with little to no danger to itself, making it awesome for completing the game. SOLEY for that reason. Damn you, Morty, damn you.
I too lost someone through some dangerous switching against Morty and mourn your loss as well. :smallfrown:
Nosepass.
Let me charge my DS a bit and do a check real quick.
627 Pokemon obtained out of 649.
633 seen.
I need the following pokemon:
Growlithe/Arcanine
Victreebel
Mew
Nosepass/Probopass (Former can be obtained in Sapphire; is a pain though)
Gorebyss (Theoretically obtainable in my White, but my white is underleveled crap)
Latias (Can be obtained in Sapphire, if I hadn't already blown my Masterball on... something, I don't even remember what)
Jirachi
Deoxys
Stunky/Skuntank
Spiritomb
Magmortar (Ugh... I've got Magmar, just need the item)
Dialga
Pokemon 489-492, which are, I believe,DusknoirDarkrai, Shaymin, Manaphy, and Phione.
Genesect
Keldeo
Meloetta.
/me facepalms.
My bad.
I couldn't remember the name, so I took a shot in the dark.
You can just buy a bunch of Awakenings. It's cheap but effective. Everything with Curse except Gengar shouldn't be too much of a problem since Super-Effective Crunch should KO them all and Raticate is fast enough that he can outspeed them with maybe 1-2 levels on them.
So... I started a game on my Ruby version. So glad I brought it with me to college.
To make it interesting, I'm going to intentionally run a team with fairly average/subpar members instead of the normal pokemon I would go for.
Current team:
Bell, level 9 Torchic
Tucker, level 8 Zigzagoon
Owen, level 7 Zigzagoon
I'm currently on my way to the second town.
Planned members:
Ninjask and Shedinja, probably going to be dropping one of the Zigzagoons for something else as well. Any ideas?
Also, the running shoes in this game are astonishingly fast.
EDIT: Should I teach my Shedinja Swords Dance or Fury Cutter? Both have the potential to deal absurd damage when I get a chance to set up.
So looking to get an early start on assembling a team for White 2 when it comes out in my Black version. Thus I was interested in getting some suggestions for making a well rounded team of pokemon. I was hoping to get one of those keys to activate hardmode from someone early on and play through that basically which is why I'm assembling the team now.
Essentially my criteria is that they're accessible out of Black version, unless someone wants to go through the trouble of arranging trades, and can either be bred or start at a relatively low level (like Keldeo). It should be noted that I haven't done anything in Dream World as I finished playing the game before they finally launched Dream World.
As of now I posses the following that I plan to use.
Oshawott (from Black)
Keldeo (might as well)
Any particular recommendations for filling this team out? I've also got Larvesta from the egg that you get for free though I might just go ahead and breed the Volcarona I already have instead. I've got Zorua and Riolu as well though I'd need to evolve them then breed to make them low level.
What is challenge mode exactly? I've been wondering that for awhile
As far as I know, they just bump up the levels of the opponent Pokemon by five or so and uses the most powerful in-game AI. Sadly, as far as Nuzlockers are concerned, it's only unlocked for post-game, so unless you can transfer a Challenge Key from a completed Black 2 over IR (not wi-fi) or have an AR, it'll be difficult.
EDIT: Ah, apparently it also improves teams, movesets, and held items.
Really, if that's bad, it's even worse with White 2's Assist Mode, since you'd think that if someone needs the easy difficulty option, they won't be able to play through the whole game to unlock it, and once they've played through the whole game to unlock it, they won't need it anymore. Who knows what Nintendo was thinking...
Wait, so one game has an easy mode, and the other has a hard mode?
