Re: Will Save World for Gold
well…..to be honest….
people can be a little unreasonable after going through violence and combat. PC's are unrealistically good at mentally dealing with that sort of stuff. post-traumatic stress and all that, and combat itself is a confusing, scary thing of chaos. if we are really being realistic, Ardon is being very cool-headed about this, like any good military leader has to be when faced with any combat situation.
it may seem obvious to us, but thats because we can look at this in stillness and analyze what is happening. in real combat, you barely have time to think.

Hey I don't know if any of you guys like my comic enough to wear a shirt of it, but if so you can now buy one. If there's a design you want that isn't there you can post on my forums and I'll see what I can do

The problem is, it has already been established in the WSWfFverse that it is the D&D model of combat that is used and the usual player attitude to violence over the real world one. Although I guess this could be explained as the first time the nightmare spirit had to deal with PCs.

Re: Will Save World for Gold
Well, to be fair, that spirit doesn't seem all that bright either.

Re: Will Save World for Gold
This comic makes me realise I sorta like 4.0 rules. :smalltongue:

Re: Will Save World for Gold
I wouldn't go that far, but I would go so far as to say I think I'm actually freaking rooting for Ardon, for a change, and not as a simple matter "to keep the others alive and get them a win."

Re: Will Save World for Gold
I feel the same, Metahuman. In other unrelated news, I adore your taste in superheroic comics!

Re: Will Save World for Gold
Whatever's happening to Ardon looks painful.
-
Re: Will Save World for Gold
You don't say. Too bad, he was close to pull it off. His future certainly looks grim now, either living under the thrall of a nightmare spirit, or being butchered by his companions in an effort to stop said spirit. I don't know if Ell or Ovi can think of something else, rocket scientists they aren't.

Re: Will Save World for Gold
Yeah, I'm honestly having a hard time figuring out an out for Ardon this time. Which is Ironic, since I've been dieing to see him in a not so dissimilar fix for quite some time now.
Maybe it's just cause I don't play 4E?
Bastian Weaver: Thanks! =)

Re: Will Save World for Gold
@lonestarnorth: you should make shirts about hating Ardon.

I do not use the word 'lol' lightly.
But in this case, I actually did laugh out loud at the last panel, so, lol.

yea, now Ardon is awesome. "I defeated you…..because I have no soul."
much like how you can't be mind-controlled if you don't have a mind, your soul cannot be possessed if you have no soul! and of course, you can't be killed if you don't have a body….

Re: Will Save World for Gold
So is Ardon literally soulless? I guess we'll find out tomorrow.

Re: Will Save World for Gold
I think he sold it somewhere.

Victory by being ****ed up ? Ardon can join Kimblee on that front. Now, is it a literal statment, because if so, that raises a LOT of questions. Mainly "What the hell have you done with your soul".

Huh, so, based on comments here, Having no soul is not a 4E eladrin thing, which is kinda what I though was going on there. Interesting.
And I will wait to pass final judgement, but if the soulless thing is not entirely literal, there is a decent possibility I will actually finally start warming up to Ardon after this.

And here i thought his soul was just like... very small, or just not in the usual place... apparently it really isn't in there at all... wat?:smallconfused:

Re: Will Save World for Gold

Maybe it's a metaphor for PCs being soulless puppets in the hands of bored players ? That, or Ardon already sold it to a random devil. I hope he got a good price for it.
And so, now, he has a voice in his head. And risks possession each time he is knocked out or faints. On the plus side, he trolled the heck of that spirit.
-
Re: Will Save World for Gold
Given right after the spirit said it could read Ardon's mind, and the first question Ardon asked was "Where is my soul then?" I'm guessing Ardon knows exactly where his soul is. Whether it's in a phylactery-style container somewhere else, or he traded it away for something, he may not have it inside him, but it does exist.

Re: Will Save World for Gold
Which means I could get to like him after all. Could, not quite committed to it just yet.

He's a trap, taking the class powers of whomever tries to possess him. Can he do it because his own soul is absent/dead/sequestered/traded away/lost when an inside straight draw beat his three kings? Is it minmaxing on his part? If he grows a new soul through caring for his party, will he lose the edge?

Re: Will Save World for Gold
Everyone, take a good long look: that is the flaw with every plan that cannot be ironed out. Luck. Probability. no matter how good your plan, it will fall apart the first time the dice decide to do something you don't want.
