Re: LGBTAitp 27: Of Shoes, and Ships, and Sealing Wax
I have to say, I'm not a huge fan of shaving my legs. Tried it once, looked good afterwards, but really didn't want to make it a regular thing. Too much time taken up for me. Plus, my clothes usually cover my legs, and it's very rare I wear anything that doesn't. So yeah.
Did feel nice to be smooth, though.

Feels really weird, in my opinion. I prefer hair. Also I hardly ever wear anything besides long cargo pants. And I'm a man so hairy legs are fairly expected.

Especially when you end up in more traditional 'manly' professions, like the military or aircraft mechanic. (Both are jobs I've had, and believe me, the testosterone is overwhelming.)

Re: LGBTAitp 27: Of Shoes, and Ships, and Sealing Wax
I'm just lazy, which is why I don't shave my legs. :smalltongue: If I want to wear something other than jeans or long things I just add in tights or leggings.
-
Re: LGBTAitp 27: Of Shoes, and Ships, and Sealing Wax
Yeah, I get the laziness bit. It does take quite some time, but I love how smooth they feel after I shave and put on a pair of tights or stockings. So even if I don't get to show them off, its totally worth it for me.

Yeah, I'm almost half-seriously considering being a lumberjack. So I need to grow a big beard, and get high heels(?).

Even only shaving a third of my face I usually don't bother all weekend and end up going to class Monday with thick stubble because I still haven't bothered.
Woo laziness.

Shoes aren't the greatest (they're growing on me as my first girl shoes though, lol), but they were only a tenner and confirmed that I am, in fact, a size 10 - I was looking through the kmart for something I could buy cheaply to test out when someone asked if I needed help finding anything. I replied that I knew the style "but just eneded to find it in my size..."
Cue awkward pause and them thnakfully assuming it was just a slip of the tongue on my part
(well it was technically)
Was going to do some more shopping today but I saw someone in the store who I'm not out to so made a quick strategic withdrawl before they saw me.
So yeah, shaved my legs for the first time today - took an hour and a half O_o but I did manag to avoid slicing off anything too important though :smallamused:
Did it whilst my ipod was on shuffle - first song that came on was Time Warp, second was YMCA, third was Vogue (fourth was
Sound of Eight Hooves, though). After the struggle to reach the backs of my thighs I finally understand why so many women do yoga. Feeling very positive after a somewhat average couple of weeks of bad dysphoria and general blerg about life.
I totally forgot about that show. :smalltongue:
Also, those pants look awesome on you and that makes me jealous. X3

It's a lot easier to lay back on the couch and bring your knees up to your chest - you can reach from the front, you can see, the skin's more stretched... Only real issue's how indescribably awkward it'd be if someone walked in on you. :smalltongue:

Re: LGBTAitp 27: Of Shoes, and Ships, and Sealing Wax
My laziness makes me take really long showers, and I just shave my legs during those. My legs get itchy if I don't shave fairly often.
Thanks for the well wishes about the new semester . It's gone pretty well so far. Most people here have been fine.
One thing that's been really weird is that while everyone new I meet pegs me as female, people I already know don't seem to notice anything different. That's made things awkward a few times. It doesn't help that to a lot of people I still go by the same genderless nickname that I did before.
For the discussion on tucking, I've never actually been able to find good resources on how to go about it. I'm not sure I would anyway, for comfort reasons, but I would like to know more.

My sort of laziness is weird. If it's a longer boring task I can actually commit to it more easily than a quick boring task. And if it's something I can give half my attention to, I'm more likely to do it while watching a show.

Happy hugs for everyone with good news!
And I get to add to it all! I had an amazingly aweome day today! On Friday, I asked my friends if they'd start using female pronouns for me. This was in a text message after I had already gone home, but...
Anyway, one of my friends invited me over to her house today, because neither of us had plans. We played some games and baked some cookies (she is a MASTER baker...I was in awe :smalleek: ). And the part I liked the best was it was the first time I spent most of the day In Real Life being refered to as "she" and "her." It was great  !
The one bit of shadow is that I chickened out on telling my parents the need to come with me next Wednesday (to my therapist, but they don't need to know that part yet). But I cheated and sent them an e-mail to their work inboxes, so they'll find out tomorrow.

Nice. The pants/rights look weird, there's an artifact on the foreleg that's messing with my eyes. Looks like you're wearing shorts under the pants.
I actually like the shoes though. I prefer a wedge heel over the new common stilletos.

Back of the legs... Yeah. There's no way that can be done easily in the shower or tub without looking like a pin-up. >///<

The feel of fabric on the skin when you've just shaved is delicious though.

For the play-by-play, I don't think it's playground safe. But a google search will turn up results, and even some diagrams of the internal anatomical bits. My most literate resource was an article on a cosplay forum, so don't let the URL throw you off.

Almost done with my paper. I think I'm beginning to understand Derrida. Couldn't have done it without looking at his work by way of Cixous (Thank you, Cixous, for writing The Newly Born Woman and defining bisexuality in a way that parallels Derrida's differance so closely).
For those wondering, Cixous' bisexuality is the acceptance of the inner other - of the feminine within the masculine and the masculine within the feminine - as opposed to Freudian bisexuality, which really negates the sexes in combining them.

I'm sqeeing a bit at making someone a bit jealous
And thanks to everyone else for all the kind words, it felt so good to finally look a bit feminine, even if only for a while
Saw a dress I really liked in a shop today - I think I'm feeling confident enough that I'm going stop window shoping and just going to buy it tomorrow (price tag dependant of course! I think it's around $200... >_>).
Siuis, that might not be an artifact, but the way my legs are as a legacy of several dislocated knees (which also doesn't help the flexability stakes much either). Not so good for heels either, but I'll make it work, lol!

Thanks for linking that blog, Zorg - I found this on it, which is the single most useful and clear guide to what hormone treatments are available I've ever seen. And amazingly for official medical material, it's written in an incredibly understanding and accepting tone!
Now why can't our NHS be as competent as Canada?
