Checked it out, got bored after the first battle. I think it's something about political messages that just doesn't work with me...
Also, picking on a popular children's (as well as a good niche of adults') game just for the publicity... I'd share it with my Facebook friends wouldn't it be for the fact that I under no circumstances want this to go viral.

Well yes, I know that, it's just, I'd have expected to age levels on the forum to stay about the same as the years pass, so we'd have no more talk about alcohol in one year than compared to the last. But suddenly there's much more mention of it than before.
I think that the general maturity of everyone (I'm not sure if I'm included in this, actually.:smallwink:) has gone up, so we can talk about this stuff more maturely. And also, Coid. He makes all conversations go to the Coid-z0ne. :smalltongue:

Congratulations, you've been successfully trolled. :smalltongue:
Hate is an ugy word, AT, and suing is bad. Also, parody is protected speech. The PETA Cooking Mama was actually kinda fun, it was just so bizarre... The turkey bled when it was being plucked.

I still hate PETA. And you should get on AIM. Because I love you. Also, I've had that one line from Need You Now stuck in my head all day.

PETA are actually great at what they do, if you're the kind of person who joins a cause without ever doing any research on the organization in question. But their games and stuff are actually pretty well-made, honestly, even if they ARE preachy and over the top.

Pretty sure as a parody it's covered under Fair Use.

ION: I fell asleep and dreamed I was robbed on Halloween by a fraternity in animal costumes who were pretending to be a band called Travis Vans and the One Man Bands. Later the truth was revealed at the mall and everyone took turns beating them up.

Nintendo's sued people over less. Such as just the use of the word "Metroid." Anyway. I don't think we can talk about anything more, but I can think of some ways they could probably pull it off.

They were mostly dressed as jungle cats. They approached me in a bar where I was eating with my friends and asked me to sign a petition to help promote the band. At first I started to give them the false name Franklin Roosevelt, but stopped, apologized, and told them I didn't want to sign.
I kept apologizing all night. Later I saw them and apologized and who I can only assume was Travis Vans said, Look, bro, it's alright. Your apology's accepted. This is a robbery.

Yeah, it already came up in the Pokemon thread. To quote my reaction:

If you called a company a long string of hateful swearwords and then took some of their iconic characters and portrayed them in a very negative light, it's not a parody, it's an attack on the brand.
Parody is only for comedy, not activism.

Source? Since Nintendo Metroid lawsuit brings nothing up.

Source is a nerdy friend who I trust enough at word value. Though, to quote him: "I'm pretty sure this probably falls firmly under fair use. But then again, there was that old hilarious lawsuit when Nintendo tried to sue Suicide Girls because one of the models simply MENTIONED Metroid."

Or it could be said to be slander which is punishable by most countries.
Oh, introducing said site as a term did yield this.

"We know that many of our fans are old enough to make their own choice about what they want to view on the Internet. We value the support of our fans and we respect their decisions. The letter was sent as part of an ongoing Nintendo program to aggressively protect our younger consumers from the hundreds of sexually-explicit sites each year that use Nintendo properties to attract children. We are proud of our efforts in this area. Unfortunately, the site posting identified in our letter was targeted by mistake.
As a gesture of goodwill, we would like to offer you (and RuneLateralus) a free Nintendo video game system and game of your choice."

That's what I was thinking. But I think we should stop this legal talk before someone gets infracted or something.

Re: Mynxae's Maliciously Magnificent Random Banter #183
See, I made the connection between pokemon and animal abuse years ago. Didn't make a big thing out of it, just a little joke that kept my friends from getting sucked in to endless discussions that I had no chance to participate in. (don't you hate when that happens? and you're sitting awkwardly off to the side, wishing you were anywhere else but knowing it would be rude to walk away?) But now I can't use that joke anymore, because PETA picked it up and now people will think I'm both serious and an idiot. CURSE YOU, JOKE-RUINERS!

Well, today was a good birthday. (though it did highlight rather plainly that my only friends live states and even entire countries away)
I got an expensive new chair, a coca-cola, a couple of cards (and a few more over the coming weeks if my previous 20 birthdays have been any indication) a conditioner for that chair, two bags of peppermints... and three pairs of pants for the job i'm quitting, two of which I'm gonna be taking back so I can get Dishonored tomorrow.

Happy Birthday HalfTangible!
He's twenty-one today, twenty-one today,
He's got the key to the door,
He's never been twenty-one before,
His father says he can do what he likes,
So shout hip-hip hooray!
For he's a jolly good fellow,
Twenty-one today!

Oh, and ignore the lyrics of the song, I couldn't fine the non-gender specific version.
