My mom never even filled out a job application to get a job, though she filled out a couple after already being hired just so that her employer had an application on file. Some people are just lucky like that.

Hanners explains smoking.

Btw, this is how military bots used to look:

Drunk at work how long ago? Sheesh, Faye's lucky Dora didn't fire her sooner.
Also, uh. When did they get rights?

Anyone else think Hanners look changed from "slightly annoyed" to "I'm going to murder someone soon" throughout this comic?
She's probably counting her heartbeats, calculating mean intervals between them, and estimating how long it will take for the 48 hours to pass.
If anything, this comic serves as ample evidence for the "Winslow could serve as Hannelore's assistant".
Y'know, since that's kinda what his position was in the first place.
I was thinking that it demonstrated a closer relationship between Winslow and Tilly than anything else.
It's early days I know, but even if Hannelore doesn't keep her on as PA (and why should she? Does a Barista really need TWO helpers on hand all the time?) I can see her staying on as Winslow's friend. Maybe even getting a job as HIS assistant, since he has apparently been taken on at the Anthro-Community Centre as their head counsellor?
Or.... and now I'm REALLY jumping the gun.... they'll stay on in a romantic sense? Tilly is gender-fluid/asexual, and Winslow is physically genderless.... Maybe it could work out as a comparison to Faye and Bubbles' bashful fumbling? :smalltongue:
Now, if Tilly could have just started OUT this way, instead of like an overwhelming force of nature that ignored Hannelore's wishes in her attempt to 'help', we'd be SO much further ahead!
That Hanners is letting her take part in the sacred laundry ritual suggests considerable acceptance. And actually, she IS being helpful. Although given Hannelore's need to become stronger through enduring stress and desensitization, I'm not sure picking up her prescriptions (that's a LOT of pills!) and keeping the spiders at bay is long term good...
Based on the expectations of zealots like Kurzweil, the singularity hasn't happened in this comic.
Or more likely, "the singularity" is total BS in that regard, and the utter lack of meaningful change in this comic is a sly poke at the whole concept, since "the singularity happened" and nothing changed.
Well the simplest meaning is just something after which we can't predict what happens because highly intelligent self improving AIs might change things quickly, but the unpredictable thing might be that everything is pretty much the same for humans. When supporters make predictions about what happens after the singularity they kinda go against the fundamental premise of the singularity.
But yeah could well be a comment about the idea.

Foreshadowing!
(Said in Dalek voice...)
Hmm I am starting to suspect Tilly really was added as a potential partner for our newly human bodied robot.
Except Bubbles, robots look like really bland humans.
"it helps humans empathize with us"
"the designers just think it's cute"
how are these not the same statement?
Yeah, the "singularity happened"... https://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=1777
This strikes me more as Jeph taking the piss out of techno-evangelists than anything serious.
Sigh. Don't open her mail guys, that's extremely rude. PA or not, her mail is none of your business unless she explicitly decides it is.

This is simultaneously my favorite Pintsize and Winslow moment.
I still think Winslow was more amusing/adorable as a walking iPod. That expression in the last panel is just gold.

Also, my archive binge has made it readily apparent how much I miss Angus.
Man, now I kind of miss Angus.

This. This is why we miss Angus.
