It's possible. There are the Five Songs of King Wulfharth, which are supposed to be from 500 FE, and they contain a reference to Alduin as Time-Eater, turning all the Nord into six-year olds, and these were written by Nords. At the same time, there are the secret songs, which contradict one of them (but not the one that matters here).

For Morrowind, I like a simple one that sets the aggression of Cliff Racers to 0. They don't go away, they just don't attack you unless you attack them.

Of course, it's also possible that the Nords muddled the distinctions at times.

But then you remove Jiub's whole reason to exist!
Edit: I'm sorry, I mean Saint Jiub.

Jiub can still go on his crusade; I just don't have to deal with cliff racers, because they're all attacking him.
EDIT: I am now picturing a mod that inserts an Essential Jiub into the game, and gives all cliff racers 100 aggression.... only to him. So, occasionally, you'll run into him, being mobbed by cliff racers.

You know what would be a cool mod?

Re: The Elder Scrolls XV: This is my Thu'um Stick
I think blanket preventing cliff racers attacking is maybe taking things a bit far. I think I saw a mod once that made it so that only *infected* cliff racers would go after you, while healthy ones would leave you alone, which seems reasonable.
-
Re: The Elder Scrolls XV: This is my Thu'um Stick
Maybe a mod that makes them less frequent?
Though the idea of the essential St Jiub is hilarious and I support it.
-
Re: The Elder Scrolls XV: This is my Thu'um Stick
Probably just taking a third of their vision range off would help. Make them not aggro from half an Island away.
-
Re: The Elder Scrolls XV: This is my Thu'um Stick
For those of you who're getting kicks out of imagining an "essential" Jiub - remember that Morrowind's "essential" is not the same as Oblivion's or Skyrim's; it does not confer effective immortality but instead just means that the player gets a "the thread of prophecy has been severed" message when the character dies.
-
Re: The Elder Scrolls XV: This is my Thu'um Stick
I'd like a mod where Jiub performs the pilgrimage of the Seven Graces, and then goes around while attracting every single cliff racer that spawns on Vvardenfell and killing them. Like, you see a cliff racer flying fast off to the horizon? It's flying to Jiub. They don't care about you, they've got him on their minds.
I installed a few mods in Skyrim to make animals act in a way that made more sense to me. For example, wolves do eat people, but it's not like they try to kill everyone they meet. Mudcrabs also were crazy aggressive, and definitely weren't an interesting fight. So I added a mod that pacifies wolves, one that pacifies mudcrabs, and then added a mod that creates large wolf packs that behave much more aggressively. Then I added horse herds, differentiated skins, and so on. One step closer to the perfect trekking sim!

Err, what? Sanguine's quest in Skyrim is the one where you get drunk and wake up in the temple to Dibella.

Don't forget about his Oblivion quest: murder and soul trap one of each race! Plus doesn't Apocrypha shapeshift as you try to navigate it?

Indeed and as you retrace your steps you end up in a keep fighting a bunch of dark mages after which you find Sanguine waiting for you. Looking around the fort or spying on the conversations reveals them to be Sanguine cultists who take sadistic pleasure in torturing their prisoners.
Sanguine lead you there, and since the quest only triggers after you’ve reached a certain level (meaning you have probably wiped out a few forts) he most likely knew what would result from you getting there. Also in the rare event that Sanguine stumbles through the portal on your end he will attack and kill the mages himself.

How are you coming to the conclusion they're Sanguine cultists? :smallconfused: There's a Shrine to Dibella in there.

Wiki says that's a result of having Morvunskar respawn and having a Radiant quest there.

Pretty much. everything being green and the shapeshifting actually makes it harder to navigate sometimes especially when you find yourself in those corridors that all just look the freaking same and you don't know where to go. oh and you teleport around to, which makes it even more confusing, get too close to the "water" and you get whapped by a tentacle, stand in the "water" and you burned as if by acid, its clearly not a place for human habitation, who knows how Miraak survived in it for thousands of years....
and its name: Apocrypha! as in something apocryphal. information of doubtful authenticity, or unknown origin. which implies we don't know where the information Hermaeus Mora has comes from and cannot verify its source, which casts doubt on how truthful it actually is. considering Apocrypha includes books from the future, and Tamriel's dragon breaks ensure there multiple timelines to consider from various periods of history, this makes sense as you could be looking up history that didn't happen or finding out things in some other time period that isn't really relevant or useful to you, and none of can be confirmed to be true as your stuck in a place that just gathers whatever information it can without sorting out whether the information is verified or useful or not, taking books of childrens tales and such just as much as textbooks. and its not categorized, the books are just stacked haphazardly on top of one another or lazily strewn about or discarded. there is even ruined books in there.
Herma-Mora doesn't care about the actual use of the information (he took the Skaal's knowledge for no reason since how to make Stahlrim doesn't seem of much use to most people) nor does he care about making sure the books within are accurate, well kept, useful, or neatly organized. he just hoards them, and puts them wherever when is done reading them while his seekers pick them up read them and then do the same without actually fixing it.
Apocrypha is the worst kept library in existence actively trying to make you lost, floating on an acid sea of tentacles while octopus nerds try to kill you for disturbing their reading. I think that speaks volumes about how orderly Herma-Mora is.

No argument on the first point--I already said Hermaeus Mora takes knowledge just because. The Skaal shaman had knowledge Mora did not possess, ergo he wanted it, regardless of its utility. However, as I've already said, that to me is more a sign of the orderly mind of a collector than anything else--Hermaeus Mora is a stamp collector, only he collects intangible knowledge rather than little bits of paper. The books in Apocrypha are irrelevant, because much of the knowledge Mora possesses (the above-mentioned Skaal secrets, for example) isn't actually written down anywhere.
As for it not being a great library--it isn't meant to be one! Mora isn't lending out his knowledge to anyone who happens into his domain, he wants anyone learning stuff they shouldn't (which is pretty much anything, in his view) to be dead. That's why there are traps all over the place, but even so, it's not a chaotic place--there is always a route to find through it, and that route does not change no matter how many times you leave and come back to the same Black Book.

Because they opened a portal to his plane.
We know he can’t have done it because of Martin’s sacrifice.

That’s because Miraak rebelled.
Throughout Dragonborn Miraak is setting up his conquest of Solstheim but not in Hermaeus Mora’s name, he wants to leave Apocrypha and establish his own kingdom in Mundus.
Hermaeus, taking rejection with the typical grace of a Daedric Prince manipulates the Last Dragonborn into killing Miraak to take his place. That’s why Mora mocks Miraak for thinking he could hide his little plot from Mora inside Apocrypha and why Miraak’s last words are a warning that the same will happen to the Last Dragonborn.

I think it’s supposed to be acidic ink.
It would fit with the theme of the place at least.

Doesn't necessarily follow that the inhabitants opened that portal.

They’re mages, they spend a lot of time getting drunk according to the guys working the forge and there’s a portal to Revelry in their basement. Looks like a Sanguine cult to me.

Re: The Elder Scrolls XV: This is my Thu'um Stick
I'm looking for a Skyrim mod, and neither Nexus nor Google is giving me any help whatsoever, so perhaps someone here knows the answer.
It's a mod that makes the ground look wet when it's raining.
There are some excellent weather mods, lots of mods for making people look wet and a few for making specific static things in specific places look wet - but that road outside Whiterun, no matter how hard it rains, it stays dry as 007's martini. There must be a way of fixing it, but danged if I can find it.
Anyone?

Re: The Elder Scrolls XV: This is my Thu'um Stick
So, I find myself instinctively steering "at least two metres" away from other pedestrians - in Skyrim.
On the plus side, it does severely cut down on the annoying greetings. On the other hand, I really find myself jumping when someone comes up behind me - again, in Skyrim - and says something.
Neurotic or normal? Heck, what is normal nowadays? I'll live with it.

Is it a Coronavirus-influenced distance or are you avoiding the annoying greetings? Because if the latter there was a mod called ‘Silence is Golden’ that cuts down the chatter a lot.
The former I can’t help with, but if you’ve got it ingrained sufficiently that it’s affecting your gameplay you’re probably doing it in the real world too, so good job.

Re: The Elder Scrolls XV: This is my Thu'um Stick
Regardless of epidemological concerns (gosh I hope that adjective is correct!), each person has a wildly different personal space. I recall as I moved to the city from a small town (not rural, we have an IBM center in town) I recall being extremely annoyed that people in the city regularly bump into you and undercut my personal space. This of course has changed, until recently where I rediscovered that I am very much okay with people suddenly keeping their distance. Similarly I cope with theempty streets better than most.
But that just as an aside. Yes, in gaming, my sense of distance is somewhat warped. Unless it is a game that works with proximity based things, like a MOBA and their skill shots/AoEs, or a roleplaying game where I control a group. This is also one of the reasons why I hate companions in Skyrim. I can't stand it when a glorified packmule breathes down my neck in any given moment, providing a bit of pitiful extra damage at best, and alarming the whole damn dungeon of my presence at worst.
With regular NPCs I've just discovered I tackle them to both end their voice acting, and to do something I'd love to do IRL. Shove annoying buggers outta my way.

In spite of the name, consumables that aren't healing potions are never meant to be used.

Re: The Elder Scrolls XV: This is my Thu'um Stick
I think Morrowind is the only game with consumables where I am actually capable of bringing myself to use them.
Because some of the consumables you can get are magnitudes above your own level and allow you to beat enemies that are far stronger than you are.
Umbra isn't that hard when you can paralyze him for a minute and a half.
