I don't have any on hand, but I believe 3x6? Slightly larger than MtG cards but smaller than index cards.

You're not tempted to do the "custom M:tG"-style ones like you did for 40k Warlord traits, with your hand-picked artwork? Those were pretty cool.

The tactics cards arr M:TG size. I have a fair number from buying the starter boxes. The unit cards are a bit bigger, though.

You know what? It's a good idea.

Re: Warhammer 40K Tabletop Thread XXXVIII: toy soldiers r srs bsns
Got Tactics in MTG sleeves so confirm that. Stat cards are indeed a sucky larger size with no sleeve option, but well, thats what laminating is for.
The KT OP Kit comes with a metric ton of the basic ones, so if your local store ever ran it they probably have them lying around.

So is it fair to say that if you're just hanging out with friends and are just getting into the hobby, you're fine with buying a boxed set for a team? But if you want to participate in a local club or get any more serious about it, you'll need to develop a roster?
Thanks!

Affirmative.
You know your opponent's Roster. They know yours.
You both know the Mission you're playing and the win conditions.
Build a Team to counter what you think your opponent is going to run, and they're going to do the same, against you.

Much like Start Collecting boxes, not all boxed teams are made equal. Research a bit, figure out what you want to play, and then check your local community to see if people can part with those for cheap (many models, like howling banshees, are great in Kill Team but crap in regular 40k).

You say 'clean my house' 'cause it eats bugs, but that damn thing is so big I imagine it doing dishes and sweeping leaves. It looks like it could fight a pidgeon and win :s.

Yeah, probably. Huntsman's gotta catch it first, but the bird would have to land eventually and Huntsmen are fast.
To be fair, the bottom two are a bit of an optical illusion, it's still a ****ing big spider, but it's "only" about 30cm across. The top one that won't show from the link IS still eating a pygmy possum.

Y'know... Normal, same, non Australian people would toss that monster outside.
Or give it the business end of a 12 gauge. As all Tyranids deserve.

Such is the dichotomy of living in Australia. The spiders are horrific... But you can see where they are and avoid them, and they have no interest in hurting you. Meanwhile, there are other, worse things that you can't see and the spiders tend to eat them.
If you walk in on one sat on your toilet seat, just give it a minute to finish and wait your turn. Nobody will be happy if you try to jump the queue. :smallwink:

Yep. 100%. It's exactly how I want to paint my Lictor.
I returned him to eating bugs.
Also, those are brand new photos. So no-one's gonna have them cached. Imgur works now, right? :smallconfused:

Females spiders will absolutely bite you. Multiple times. It will hurt.

Huntsmen are awesome! They just race around eating actually lethal spiders.

"Why are they called Huntsmen?"
...Exactly why you think.
I wish I had video of the spider jumping on my Marine.
...Oh right. Those same huge legs that allow it to run fast, also allow them to jump/leap.

Yeah, but they're not going to go out of their way to chase you down and bite you on purpose, is what I'm getting at. Just don't... y'know.... wrestle them under a bowl at 2am, flash bright lights into their eyes and feed them Space Marines, and you'll probably not incur their vengeance while you sleep. :smalltongue:

And it's so cool. The more important part is that when they bite you, it just hurts.

Re: Warhammer 40K Tabletop Thread XXXVIII: toy soldiers r srs bsns
So.
Anybody here know an easy way to strip paint off something the size of a Mastodon? :smalltongue:
I could of course just grab a brush and some 91% alcohol, but I was wondering if somebody had an idea that was more efficient/effective. I also have some excess glue to clean off, but imagine the only way that's happening is with a file/art knife.

I had enough trouble stripping Skyweavers and Starweavers for a commission, and they're not even that big. My main issue was that they float. :smallsigh:
Find a container big enough for the Mastodon. Buy a volume of solvent less than the volume of the container.
A funnel will help you save most of the solvent.

These days I'm almost exclusively using ice-cream containers, they come in multiple sizes, and come with lids to reduce fume exposure... Also you get ice-cream. Though a Mastodon is pretty big...
If you found a deep casserole dish from a second-hand store or something, that'd work too.
Done.

Local player has an empty ice cream tub, or a 5 gallon bucket with a lid to loan me. Gonna pick it up Tuesday, then estimate how much solvent I need before heading over to the grocery store to pick it up.
Thanks for the helpful advice, Cheese.

Surely there's something you can use between a 1-2L ice-cream tub, and a 5 gallon bucket. :smalleek:
ION; Something vaguely concerning...
Having a conversation about Kill Team today with a prospective TO for an event sometime soon... Those Faction Kill Team boxes are no longer in print, thus, like everything else GW has put out that goes OOP, he said that the Tactics cards in the Faction boxes would be illegal. He says Faction Boxes aren't Supplements and thus aren't legal, and then he doubled down saying that Faction boxes are OOP, and thus not accissible, and why shouldn't they be illegal?
Does that make sense? Is that the ruling? Is that how everyone else plays? Use the Tactics from Elites or GTFO? :smallconfused:

If you pack the ice cream tub with small rocks or something like that, then you can likely spare a sizeable amount of solvent.
