I'm not quite sure what you mean by "doesn't fit in the linkbar"
I've never had trouble with long URLs; I just copy and paste them in. The only thing I can think of is check to make sure you don't have [img] or [url] tags around it -- that makes it say that the image is in the wrong format (or something similar).
